Pheasant Weights And Time Of Season In Relation To Meat Production In Nebraska, Levi L. Mohler
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: Staff Research Publications
During the 1942 pheasant hunting season in Nebraska 479 bagged cock pheasants were weighed in western and southwestern counties. Analysis of the weights revealed that the time of the open season apparently has a material effect upon the tonnage of meat harvested for human consumption.

The Feeding Habits Of Gambusia Affinis Affinis, With Special Reference To The Malaria Mosquito, Anopheles Quadrimaculatus, A.D. Hess, Clarence M. Tarzwell
United States Environmental Protection Agency: Publications
The viviparous top minnow, Gambusia affinis affinis (Baird and Girard), has for many years been considered an important predator of the immature stages of mosquitoes. Various field workers have reported on the value of this species in controlling both anopheline and culicine mosquitoes, but few detailed studies have been made. Probably the most detailed of these has been that of Hildebrand (1925). His investigations were made during the summers of 1921-24 in the vicinity of Augusta, Ga., with the subspecies G. affinis holbrooki. Employing the common dipper method, he compared the densities of anopheline and culicine larvae and pupae in …

An Analysis Of Fishing In The Tva Impoundments During 1939, R. William Eschmeyer, Clarence M. Tarzwell
United States Environmental Protection Agency: Publications
An inventory of fishing on Norris, a storage reservoir, was begun in 1938. The following year it was extended to Wheeler, a run-of-the-river reservoir, and to the tailwater area below Wilson Dam. This inventory, therefore, covered each of the three general types of fish habitats created by the TVA dams. This discussion is a summary of the 1939 fishing data, together with recommendations for fish management based on the creel census information. The data collected totaled 34,270 usable fishing records, representing a catch of 98,495 fishes.

The Comparative Ability Of The Bob-White And The Ring-Necked Pheasant To Withstand Cold And Hunger, Paul L. Errington
Other Publications in Wildlife Management
The native Bob-white (Colinus virginianus) and the introduced Ring-necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus torquatus) may both, on occasion, suffer severe winter mortality over much of their common range in north-central United States. Their habitats often overlap, although the Pheasant has a greater cruising radius and an ability to live in a more open type of country than the Bob-white. In given localities they also live upon much the same kinds of winter foods.
The scope of this paper is not intended to cover the ecological adjustments of Pheasants or of Bob-whites to their winter environment so much …

Freestone County, Texas [Water Quality Survey Of Wells And Springs With Test Hole Data, 1936], Samuel F. Turner
United States Geological Survey: Water Reports and Publications
Introduction
The purpose of this survey was to obtain information concerning existing wells and springs and the quantity and quality of water they yield, and to put down test holes where additional information was needed.
This project was part of a statewide Works Progress Administration project known as a "Statewide Inventory of Water Wells," sponsored by the [Texas] State Board of Water Engineers. The Division of Ground Water of the United States Geological Survey cooperated in the technical direction of the project and the Bureau of Industrial Chemistry of the University of Texas furnished laboratory space and equipment and supervised …

The Reptiles Of Cherokee County, Kansas, Myron Alec Hurd
Electronic Theses & Dissertations
Cherokee County has an area of 585 square miles. The greater part is covered with hydrophytes and mesophytes, but there are some Xerophytic areas. A large part of its area is covered with typical prairie grassland. Thickets of plum, sumac, persimmon, hawthorne, blackberry, and buck brush occur in pastures and wastelands. Along the streams may be found the elm-ask-oak assocations and other plants. Along the embankments may be found blackberry, sumac, and wild rose. Surrounding the ponds and marsh areas are rushes, reeds, button willows, and willows.
The mean annual temperature is 56 degrees fahrenheit. The three summer months average …
Bird Studies Of The Bear River Marshes, Ernest W. Parkinson
Bird Studies Of The Bear River Marshes, Ernest W. Parkinson
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The establishment of the Bear River Bay Bird Refuge has created for the state of Utah an immense and valuable biological field, a veritable paradise for naturalist and sportsman alike. The naturalist wants a place to study wild life and the sportsman desires game. With the proper control of open seasons on wild fowl the hunting instinct and incentive for the sport should be satisfied for the sportsman. To the naturalist this region will open up bountiful treasures of knowledge that is to be gained only by intense and prolonged scientific study.

A Study Of The Vegetation Of Northeastern Arizona, Herbert Christian Hanson
A Study Of The Vegetation Of Northeastern Arizona, Herbert Christian Hanson
University Studies (University of Nebraska): Papers
The State of Arizona is marked by a great series of cliffs that extend from the mouth of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River in the northwestern part of the state southeastward into New Mexico. This line of cliffs, rising 1000 to 4000 feet above the desert plains forms the southwestern and southern boundary of the great physiographic province called the Colorado Plateaus. It is roughly circular and includes northeastern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico, western Colorado, and a large part of Utah. This province is subdivided by a number of deep canyons and high cliffs into numerous plateaus. The …
