Glaciation In Montana, Alvin H. Lense
Glaciation In Montana, Alvin H. Lense
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
Glacial deposits are increasingly entering into consideration in engineering projects, soil surveys, ground-water supply, sources for industrial materials, and other economic enterprises. In the field of engineering, glacial deposits if present must be considered in connection with reservoir sites, dam or bridge abutments, road building, and other types of construction work.

Laboratory Model Shaking Table; An Investigation Of Defects And Suggested Improvements, George C. Horak
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
The laboratory model is considered in this thesis. Information gained from this investigation has not been transferred to the larger industrial machines. Some of the factors noted concerning the efficiency of the laboratory shaking table are inherent in this small scale model only.

The Goss Lemming Mouse, Synaptomys Cooperi Gossii (Goues), In Nebraska, Edson Fichter, Merle F. Hansen
Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum
In the course of studies on the cestode parasites of microtine rodents by one of the authors (Hansen), specimens of mice were sent to the United State National Museum where they were identified by Dr. David H. Johnson. Two of these microtines proved to be Synaptomys cooperi gossii (Coues). These specimens of Synaptomys (U.S.N.M. Nos. 282343 and 282344), collected at Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, on September 16, 1946 (male) and November 20, 1946 (female), respectively, are the first ones to be identified from Nebraska.
Geology Of The Ozark-Martin Mine Area, Madison County, Missouri, William Clifton Hayes
Geology Of The Ozark-Martin Mine Area, Madison County, Missouri, William Clifton Hayes
Masters Theses
"General descriptions of the region adjacent to the Ozark and Martin Mines of Madison County, Missouri have been included in a number of early publications dealing with the Einstein Silver Mine area, but a detailed geologic map has not been made. It was thought that through detailed mapping and by a detailed analysis of all of the geologic features present, a more definite relationship between mineralization and structure might be determined"--Introduction, Purpose and Scope of Work, page 1.
Geology Of The Einstein-Apex Tungsten Mine Area, Joel B. Pomerene
Geology Of The Einstein-Apex Tungsten Mine Area, Joel B. Pomerene
Masters Theses
"The geological problem existing in the Silver Mine area, the relationship of mineralization to structure, particularly to faulting and jointing, was pointed out to the writer by Prof. O. R. Grawe. Several geologists have made reconnaisance [sic] surveys of the whole region, but so far no detailed geologic map has been published of the immediate area. Prof. Grawe pointed out that such a map would be of value in the better understanding of the area and would be especially useful in the event that another national emergency required the development of all possible sources of tungsten"--Introduction, Selection of the Problem, …
Insoluble Residues Of Five Sections Of The Amsden Formation, Wilmer R. Peterson
Insoluble Residues Of Five Sections Of The Amsden Formation, Wilmer R. Peterson
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
The term, "insoluble residue," as used in this report is that portion of the original rock sample remaining after the sample has been digested by a mixture of one part hydrocloric acid and two parts water. The remains or insoluble residue from this acid treatment may vary from nothing to I00 percent.

The Geologic History Of The Bison In The Great Plains (A Preliminary Report), C. Bertrand Schultz, W. D. Frankforter
Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum
THE GEOLOGIC history of the bison in North America is a subject which has received little attention to date. Osteological rather than geological problems have been the main concern of most writers who have so far published. If the geologic history of the bison is to be learned, it will be necessary to devote more time and effort in the field in determining the age of the deposits in which various specimens have been discovered and in making more extensive collections from deposits of known age. Unfortunately the majority of the type specimens have been surface finds and little attempt …
Geology And Ore Deposits Of The Dunmore Mine, Ouray County, Colorado, Caswell Silver
Geology And Ore Deposits Of The Dunmore Mine, Ouray County, Colorado, Caswell Silver
Earth and Planetary Sciences ETDs
The Dunmore lode is located near Ouray, Colorado in the northwest part of the San Juan Mountains. In structure as well as mineral assemblage it shows a connection between the chimneys and veins of the region. The lode averages about 100 feet wide for 1,200 feet along the Dunmore claim. The fissure zone is over two miles long and displacement along it has offset a folded pre-Cambrian complex 4,500 feet prior to the deposition of 2,400 feet of volcanic tuff. Fissures in the pre-Cambrian rocks controlled in part the intrusion of dikes and the formation of veins. Late Tertiary faulting …

An Investigation Into The Adaption Of The Induction Furnace For Determining The Equilibrim Diagram Of The System Cu2s-Fes, John R. Cole
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
This investigation was started in an effort to find an accurate and efficient method of determining the freezing points of ferrous and cuprous sulphides, mixtures of the two substances, and from this to establish the liquidus line of the equilibrium diagram.
A Preliminary Investigation Of The Hydrometallurgy Of Philipsburg Manganese, W. L. Goodman
A Preliminary Investigation Of The Hydrometallurgy Of Philipsburg Manganese, W. L. Goodman
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
In the past the steel industry of the United States has depended almost wholly on imports for its supplies of manganese. Although it is well known that there are enormous deposits of low grade manganese ore in the United States the production of substantial amounts of ferro-grade material from domestic sources presents a field for constructive and practical research.
Economic Talc Deposits Of Montana And Related Firing Problems, Charles J. Lyden
Economic Talc Deposits Of Montana And Related Firing Problems, Charles J. Lyden
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
This thesis has to do with a study of the production of talc in Montana, describing the local geology of each deposit, and a description of the laboratory tests that were made on various grades of Montana talc in an attempt to determine why some grades of talc can be burned in solid forms while others must be ground, mixed with a binder and molded.

Permability And Porosity Of Devonian Dolomites In Northwestern Montana, Jack W. Nordquist
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
The purpose of this investigation is to record data pertaining to porosity and permeability derived from physical tests performed on Devonian dolomites occurring in northwestern Montana, and to subsequently summarize the results obtained as an aid in determining the possibility of those dolomites being suitable reservoir rocks for oil and gas accumulation.

Progress Report On The Ground-Water Resources Of The Las Vegas Artesian Basin, Nevada, George B. Maxey, C. Harry Jameson
Publications (WR)
Whether the tremendously increased population acquired by Las Vegas in the years 1940 to 1942 will be retained cannot at present be foretold. However, the valley will undoubtedly be expected to support a considerably larger population than it did at any time prior to 1940, and continually increasing demands on the water supply for innumerable pcacetimc activities must be anticipated. Therefore, a sound evaluation of tho ground water resources of Las Vegas Valley is directly in line with the other wisely progressive planning programs which are now operating or are taking shape in the valley as well as in the …
