Hydrographic Data From The Atlantic Plankton Cruises Of The R/V Pathfinder, December 1959 - December 1960, Edwin B. Joseph, William H. Massmann, John J. Norcross
Hydrographic Data From The Atlantic Plankton Cruises Of The R/V Pathfinder, December 1959 - December 1960, Edwin B. Joseph, William H. Massmann, John J. Norcross
Reports
The data included in this report have resulted from a series of monthly offshore cruises conducted by the Ichthyology Research Section. The cruises were made to obtain information on the distribution and abundance of pelagic eggs and larvae of fishes. Since the biological results will be reported in a series of separate papers (Joseph, Massmann and Norcross, 1961), it was felt that the raw hydrographic data shpuld be made available in a single source.
The area covered is approximately 2500 square nautical miles of the neritic zone within the 20-fathom contour. The shore line encompasses the mouth of Chesapeake Bay …

Preliminary Report: Monolayer Behavior Studies, 1959, Bureau Of Reclamation
Publications (WR)
During the fall of 1959, monolayer behavior studies were made on two lakes in the southwest; Boulder Basin of Lake Mead, Nevada, and Lake Sahuaro near Phoenix, Arizona.
These studies were made to evaluate the effect of geographical and climatological conditions on movement and behavior of monolayers. The Lake Sahuaro tests also were used to provide data for design and development of improved methods of application and maintenance of a film on this lake in anticipation of full scale, evaporation-reduction tests to be performed there during the summer of I960.
The Lake Mead studies produced the following general points of …

Contour Banks For Filling Dams, B A'B Marsh
Contour Banks For Filling Dams, B A'B Marsh
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
A LTHOUGH contour banks have been used in this State for many years to lead water into earth tanks or "dams," it is only comparatively recently that the idea has become really popular.
Thanks to the publicity given to this matter during the last three years many farmers now know that dams may be filled by contour banks, but because they do not know the finer points of the method, they are apt to mislead themselves into thinking that their territory is unsuitable for putting it into practice.

Final Report: Heat Transport Of The Florida Current., Frank Chew, L. P. Wagner, Robert C. Work
RSMAS Technical Reports
Excess solar isolation received in the low latitudes of the earth is lost by way of transfer to the overlying air and by way of bodily movements of warm water out of the region. The Florida Current is one such movement of warm water, characterized by its narrow width, high speed, and high temperature. Because of these characteristics, the influence of the Florida Current on atmospheric processes is of paramount importance.

Succession In A Dune Community At Mentor Headlands, Ohio, Harold G. Marshall
Succession In A Dune Community At Mentor Headlands, Ohio, Harold G. Marshall
Biological Sciences Faculty Publications
Continual sand deposition on the Lake Erie shore, adjacent to the mouth of the Grand River, has led to the formation of a developing sand dune community and through the years a successional pattern of plant growth. An analysis was made of the general plant composition of the area by means of four transects directed from the bare beach inland. Definite zonation of specific plant species was present throughout the community in parallel formation. Named for the dominant plant types they contained, the major stages were: dune grass, poplar, aspen, and oak.
Make The Best Use Of Your Rainfall, J E. Watson
Make The Best Use Of Your Rainfall, J E. Watson
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 3
Farmers are not always satisfied with the rain that falls on their farms—it is often too little, too much, too soon or too late. However, the farmer has a very great responsibility to make the best use of the rain he gets, and if he gets too much, to see that the excess can flow down to the rivers without causing damage.
