Scattering And Inverse Scattering On The Line For A First-Order System With Energy-Dependent Potentials, Ramazan Ercan May 2018

Scattering And Inverse Scattering On The Line For A First-Order System With Energy-Dependent Potentials, Ramazan Ercan

Mathematics Dissertations

A first-order system of two linear ordinary differential equations is analyzed. The linear system contains a spectral parameter, and it has two coefficients that are functions of the spatial variable . Those two functions act as potentials in the linear system and they also linearly contain the spectral parameter λ, and hence they are referred to as energy-dependent potentials. Such a linear system arises in the solution to a pair of integrable nonlinear partial differential equations (known as the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations) via the so-called inverse scattering transform method. The direct and inverse problems for the corresponding first-order linear …

KSU Journey Honors College Capstones and Theses

KSUGo seeks to better enable students to interact with their community, maintain a level of safety on and off campus, improve their course management skills, and increase information propagation among students and campus officials. Currently, Kennesaw State does not have a dedicated general purpose native application on any mobile device platform for students, faculty, or staff to use for improving their everyday Kennesaw State experience. This project seeks to rectify that need by providing a native application with support for the Android platform.

Evaluation Of Silica Hydride Materials For The Lc–Ms Analysis Of Cathinones And Benzylpiperazines, Seiichiro Watanabe Apr 2018

Evaluation Of Silica Hydride Materials For The Lc–Ms Analysis Of Cathinones And Benzylpiperazines, Seiichiro Watanabe

Seiichiro Watanabe

A new LCMS approach is tested for the analysis of controlled substances using bath salts (cathinones) as a model system. Since the structure of cathinones have a polar functionality (the amine group) as well as an aromatic component, separation on the LC column could be achieved in the reversed-phase(RP) or aqueous normal phase (ANP) modes. Since silica hydride columns can function in both modes they have considerable potential for the analysis of substances that have both polar and nonpolar functionalities. Four different silica hydride-based columns (C18, phenyl, cholesterol and diol) are tested in either the RP or ANP and RP …

DEEPEND Datasets

Conductivity, temperature, and depth data from the ship's CTD, which was deployed at each of the DEEPEND stations. Depth of cast was variable, but extended from near-surface waters to below the euphotic zone. This data also includes measurements from a red light transmissometer, a chlorophyll fluorometer, and a dissolved oxygen sensor. The data is used in the assessment of the water column's vertical structure, and for comparison with physical models. Data were collected in the northern Gulf of Mexico from May 2-12, 2017.

Spectral Remote Sensing Reflectance Of The Water Surface Collected At Multiple Stations, Cruise Dp05, May 2017, Chuanmin Hu, David English

DEEPEND Datasets

Remote sensing reflectance, Rrs(λ), is used for validation of airborne and satellite ocean color measurements. Inverse models also employ Rrs measurements to estimate the bio-optical properties of near-surface waters or shallow benthic environments. It has been used to detect algal blooms, floating vegetation. The presence of oil also alters the water’s specular reflectance properties, and thus the measured Rrs. Rrs(λ) is measured from the ship using a handheld spectroradiometer. Multiple measurements of the light reflected from the water’s surface, a portion of the sky, and a calibrated, diffuse reflectance reference plaque are made using a spectroradiometer with a limited field …

Development Of Structure Of Ceramic Brick With Regard To Environmental Factors, Z. K. Babayev, Z. B Djumaniyazov, Y. X. Yaqubov, E. X. Xudayberganov

Central Asian Problems of Modern Science and Education

Preliminary studies have established that the process of burning ceramic bricks containing coke-fines as burn-in additives proceeds much faster, with minimal energy expenditure than the traditional method. Also, under these conditions, it is established that the coke fines serve as a reducing agent and accompanies the decomposition of difficult to decompose salts (Na2SO4, CaSO4), which eliminates such negative phenomena as high education. The reducing medium also positively influences the reduction of iron oxides (Fe2+ to Fe+ ) contained in loess-like loam, the chemical ratio of which is Fe+ more active than Fe2+, which predetermines the acceleration of the formation of …

Seawater was collected and filtered for microbiome and bacterioplankton sequencing and analyses at various depths during planned DEEPEND cruise expeditions to the GOM in 2016. Filters were stored and then processed for total environmental genomic DNA according to standard methods (see earthmicrobiome.org). 16S rRNA amplicon libraries covering the V4 hypervariable regions were generated with universal PCR primers and then sequenced on an Illumina MiSeq DNA sequencing platform. Raw paired-end sequences were joined and quality filtered in the bioinformatics program, QIIME. Vertical baseline characterizations will track alpha and beta diversity at different depths ranging from 0 – 1500 m, assess seasonal …

Mesospheric Densities And Temperatures Derived From 11 Years Of Data Acquired With The Rayleigh-Scatter Lidar At The Atmospheric Lidar Observatory At Utah State University, Vincent B. Wickwar, Joshua P. Herron

Browse all Datasets

Frequent observations were carried out with the Rayleigh-scatter lidar at Utah State University’s Atmospheric Lidar Observatory (41.742572° N, 111.808273° W, and 1466 m) from August 1993 through December 2004. Of 964 nights observed, a total of 839 nights were judged good for deriving temperatures. These 839 were reduced to obtain all-night relative neutral densities and absolute temperatures. These results extend from 45 to ≤ 95 km, thereby covering the mesosphere. This netCDF file starts by giving the number of nights included in the file. For each night, the netCDF file then provides defining parameters and derived profiles, as defined below. …

Open Source Classroom Polling (Interactive Response) Facility, Ronald I. Greenberg

Ronald Greenberg

The contents of the UNIX directory resulting from unzipping the .zip file provide a demonstration of a simple polling facililty that instructors can use in class any time that students have access to a web browser. This is a good way to have students work problems and see to what extent they are converging towards correct answers. Unlike other polling facilities, this one is completely free without any restrictions on number of simultaneous users, etc. It also allows a feature most polling facilities do not in that it may be used for completely free-form answers, and the instructor can still …

Chlorophyll Concentration And Optical Absorption Spectra Of Particulate And Dissolved Material, Collected At Several Depths On Deepend Cruises Dp05 From January-December 2017, Chuanmin Hu

DEEPEND Datasets

The optical absorption spectra from seawater’s particulate and dissolved components can be used to compute the penetration of light to various depths, estimate the proportion of living to non-living particulate matter, assess photosynthetic light availability and the type of phytoplankton present, and to validate satellite or airborne ocean color measurements. Chlorophyll and phaeopigment concentrations are often used to estimate the amount of phytoplankton present, and to allow extrapolation of in situ fluorometric measurements. Water was collected using a CTD rosette near the surface and from several depths at each sampling station occupied by the DEEPEND cruise DP05 (see GRIIDC dataset …
