Ampere was the first to show that wires carrying current experienced forces when placed in magnetic fields. Later it was shown that charged particles moving in magnetic fields also experience forces. Common applications of these phenomena are the electric motor, the galvanometer, and the cathoderay tube. Since a moving electric charge is equivalent to a current, we shall first consider the force acting on a charge q moving with velocity v in a magnetic field of induction B. The electrons of an atom occupy certain energy levels when the atom is far from other atoms. When a large number of atoms are assembled to form a conducting metallic solid, the energy levels of the valence electrons are displaced in position to form a conduction band, as discussed in Section 28-4. The valence electrons occupy energy levels within the conduction band and are relatively free to drift from atom to atom within the metal. In this study a survey was made of the attitudes of Indonesian Seventh-day Adventists toward nursing. This was done for the purpose of discovering why there is a shortage of women applicants to the Seventh-day Adventist nursing school in Bandung, Java. The study was accomplished through the use of questionnaires administered to four selected groups in two geographic areas of Indonesia, and revealed attitudes of two adult groups and two student group. One hundred and twenty-one persons responded to the questionnaires.

"A long-sensitive time Wilson Cloud Chamber has been built and tested. A usable sensitive time of 2.5 seconds has been achieved by the use of a system of five expansion valves, the first three of which are used to obtain the sensitive time and the final two to continue the expansion at a supersaturation slightly less than critical in order to allow all droplets formed to grow in size and fall into the liquid. Aqueous precipitation of uranium as the peroxide has been used as a purification procedure since the early days of the Manhattan Project. The procedure has successfully produced an extremely pure product when handled in small batches. Heretofore peroxide precipitation has been utilized for relatively pure fuel from gaseous diffusion plants or in purifying column extraction products from salvage processes. A search of the unclassified literature had rendered no information upon the feasibility of separating fission products and fuel cladding materials by selective precipitation of uranium peroxide.

"The Missouri "Lead Belt" comprises approximately 50 square miles, centering around the town of Flat River, in St. Francois County. Missouri. This district has been producing lead for more than 200 years, the total production being at least 8,000,000 tons of lead, valued at more than $1,000,000,000. For many years, the annual production of the district has been at least one-fourth of the total production in the United States.

The purpose of this report is to study the basement rocks of North Dakota. The basement rocks of North Dakota may be divided into two categories. The eastern division comprises deeply weathered material and extends from the Red River westward for approximately thirty miles. The western division essentially comprising adamellite (more than 1/3 but less than 2/3 alkali feldspar and more than 10 percent quartz), extends from a north-south line thirty miles west of the Red River to the Montana border.

In North Dakota the Pierre shale was deposited in all portions of the State except the southeastern corner, where it was either never deposited or removed by pre-Pleistocene erosion. In the western part of North Dakota the Pierre is overlain by later Cretaceous and Tertiary sediments, but to the east of the Missouri River, where it forms the bedrock, it is mantled by glacial drift. However, numerous exposures of the Pierre are present, generally in road cuts and river valleys of the southwestern and northeastern corners of the State. Nine bands were observed in HOOF and thirteen DCOF. A rotational analysis was completed on five of the fundamental bands in each molecule. The ground state moments of inertia are internally consistent. The value of B which is quoted is actually B̅ = 1/2 (B+C). As the symmetric top approximation is used throughout, no information was obtained about the actual values of B and C themselves. We know, however, that they cannot differ by very much because symmetric top approximation gives consistent results.

Introduction: The properties of liquid ammonia are similar in many ways to those of water. Liquid ammonia has the very high specific heat of 1.10 calories per gram. Hydrogen bonding occurs to a considerable degree although not as extensively as in water. Evidence of hydrogen bonding as reflected in boiling points is shown in Table I. The dielectric constant is 22 at -33° which is also very high for a solvent which is comparatively inert to reactive metals. (Hexane has a dielectric constant of 1.87.)
