In Situ Measurements Of Solution Conductivity In Microwave Field, Yong-Qing Su, Chun-Peng Liu

Journal of Electrochemistry

The curves of the conductivity as a function of temperature for 24 kinds of solutions have been in situ measured both in the microwave field and in absence of microwave field. The results indicated that the relationship between the conductivity in microwave field (Lw) and temperature (T) can be expressed by an equation Lw=a′+b′T+c′T2 , similar to the one that is valid in absence of the microwave field Ln=a+bT+cT2. Conductivity in the absence and presence of microwave field can be linked by the equation ln Lw=A+BLn+CL2n.

Journal of Electrochemistry

Simultaneous frequency and current responses during potential cycling of Pt electrode were measured in 0.1 mol·L-1 H2SO4 solution by using EQCM.Quantitative analysis of the mass change revealed that the increase of mass in the hydrogen and double_layer regions in a positive_going potential scan was due to water adsorption on the Pt electrode, further calculation indicated that water molecules adsorbed on Pt electrode in the double_layer regions through a low discharge quomodo .The EQCM studies provided quantitative results of surface mass variation during water adsorption and oxidation, and have thrown new light in elucidating the structure of double_layer between electrode and solution.

Journal of Electrochemistry

Cadmium p_toluenesulfonate was synthesized and tested electrochemically for the first time. This salt can lose all the hydrated water easily and the dehydrated salt do not deliquesce in the air.Hence, the cadmium p_toluenesulfonate is suitable for the electrochemical studies in organic solvents. When the Cd(Ⅱ) reduced on Pt electrode in Cd(pCH3C6H4SO3)2+TBAP+DMSO, underpotential deposition of cadmium occurred at first, and then cadmium deposited. 4_Methyl_7_hydroxylcoumarin and 3_aminocoumarin coordinate with Cd(Ⅱ) respectively, as a result the reductive potentials of Cd(Ⅱ) moved to the negative direction.

Application Of Biphenyl Electroploymerization For Overcharge Protection In Li-Ion Batteries, Li-Fen Xiao, Xin-Ping Ai, Yu-Liang Cao, Han-Xi Yang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The electropolymerization of biphenyl at overcharged positive electrode was investigated for overcharge protection of Li_ion batteries. Biphenyl in electrolyte as an additive can electrochemically polymerize at 4.5~4.75 V(vs. Li/Li+) to form a layer of conductive film on cathode surface. The surface film increases the internal resistance and the gases released during the electropolymerization also increases the internal pressure of the batteries, which therefore enhance the sensitivities of the electrical disconnecting devices. During prolonged overcharge, the growth of the conductive polymer film can create short circuit between the positive and negative electrodes and cause self_discharge of the batteries to a safer …

Journal of Electrochemistry

ZnO nanoparticle films were prepared on the Au film, PANI film and ITO by sol_gel method, and their morphological optical and photoelectrochemical properties were also studied. The results showed that the porous structure of PANI can suppress the aggregation of ZnO particles, resulting in the blue shift of on_set in the UV_Vis spectra and fluorescence spectra of ZnO_PANI composite film compared with that of ZnO_Au film. It was suggested that the ZnO_PANI composite film can be used in photoelectric coversion.

Journal of Electrochemistry

In the present work, different shaped carbon nanotubes were produced by the general CVD and the template method at different temperature (600 ℃,700 ℃) with the reaction gas of acetylene. The morphology, structure and the electrochemical lithium intercalation performance were comparatively studied and characterized by TEM, HRTEM, SEM, XRD, Raman techniques and Charge/Discharge Test. It was found that the different preparation methods and temperatures all had an obvious effect on these properties of carbon nanotubes. In our samples, with the increase of preparation temperature, the degree of crystallinity decreased, and the reversible specific capacity increased respectively.

As control experiments, nonspecific antigens and lower concentration SEC1 antigens were directly observed. In addition, an acidic solution was used to break the antigen-antibody pair and made the sensor reuse. Electrochemical evidence was …

Journal of Electrochemistry

The oxidation of hypophosphite on a polycrystalline platinum electrode was studied by SNIFTIRS and cyclic voltammetry, the in-situ IR spectra were analyzed as a function of Pt electrode potentials in the solution of 0.5 mol/L H 2SO 4+0.1 mol/L NaH 2PO 2. It was found that the dissociative adsorption of hypophosphite ions occurs on Pt surface, and the oxidation product is H 3PO 4, rather than H 2PO 3 - which was considered to produce on Ni electrodes, thereby a new insight into mechanism of hypophosphite oxidation on Pt in acidic media was provided.

Preparation And Performance Of Lifeo_2 Coated Nickel Oxide Cathode For Molten Carbonate Fuel Cells, Chun-Ming Wang, Fei Li, Ke-Ao Hu

Journal of Electrochemistry

A novel cathode for molten carbonate fuel cells was prepared by coating LiFeO 2 over the surface of porous NiO cathode by a simple combustion process. The analytical results of X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDAX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) indicated that the LiFeO 2 coating on the surface of NiO particles consisted of nonometer-sized LiFeO 2 grains and sintered tightly with the NiO particles. The LiFeO 2 coating dramatically reduced the contacting area of NiO with the carbonate melts, thus the solubility of NiO in the carbonate melts was decreased. Meanwhile, …
