Tuning The Mechanical Properties And Degradation Properties Of Polydioxanoneisothermal Annealing, Xiliang Liu, Shaomin Feng, Xin Wang, Jin Qi, Dong Lei, Yadong Li, Wei Bai

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Polydioxanone (PPDO) is synthesized by ring-opening polymerization of p-dioxanone, using stannous octoate as the catalyst. The polarized optical micrograph (POM) shows thes pherulite growth rate of PPDO decreases with an increase in the isothermal crystallization temperature. PPDO is compression-molded into bars, and PPDO bars are subjected to isothermal annealing at a range of temperatures (Ta = 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 °C), and correspond to three different annealing times (ta = 1h, 2h, 3h). The effect on PPDO is investigated by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). With …

Development Of Thermoplastic Polyurethane/Polyaniline-Doped Membranes Forthe Separation Of Glycine Through Electrodialysis, Khurram ., Asif Ali Qaiser, Rashid Saleem, Naveed Shahzad Ali, Shahbaz Nazir, Tousif Hussain, Abdul Ghaffar

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Recently, membrane-based separation processes, particularly electrodialysis, have attracted attention for the separation and purification of organic and amino acids from animal feedstock waste. In this study, cation exchange membranes were synthesized by making a composite of thermoplastic polyurethane and polyaniline (PANI) via the doping of various aromatic sulfonic acids, such as ß -naphthol sulfonic acid and phenol sulfonic acid. The PANI was prepared using a standard method, which was further used in the composite blending at varying concentrations of 10%- 20%. The impact of the concentration of PANI and the nature of the dopant on the membrane characteristics were comparatively …

Biostratigraphy And Paleoenvironments Of The Oligocene Succession(İhsaniye Formation) At Karaburun (Nw Turkey), Michael D. Simmons, Michael D. Bidgood, Paul G. Connell, Stjepan Coric, Aral I. Okay, David Shaw, Emilia Tulan, Jan Mayer, Gabor C. Tari

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The biostratigraphy and paleoenvironments of the İhsaniye Formation exposed at Karaburun in northwest Turkey is described based upon the study of abundant and well-preserved foraminifera, calcareous nannofossils and palynomorphs. The studied succession is Early Oligocene in age, with calcareous nannofossil zones upper NP21 (Subzone CNO1) to lower NP23 (Subzone CNO3) and planktonic foraminifera zones O1 (~P18) and O2 (~P19) represented, and palynological assemblages suggestive of zones D13 to D14a. Based on these new data, a revised interpretation of the stratigraphic succession is presented. Deposition was controlled by a now inverted normal fault, with deposition of older stratigraphy (upper NP21 to …

Coseismic Surface Deformation And Fault Model Of The 27 May 2017 Mw 5.2 Saruhanlı-Manisa (Western Turkey) Earthquake From Insar, Ahmet Murat Akoğlu Jan 2020

Coseismic Surface Deformation And Fault Model Of The 27 May 2017 Mw 5.2 Saruhanlı-Manisa (Western Turkey) Earthquake From Insar, Ahmet Murat Akoğlu

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The shortened revisit times and accurate orbits of the new generation of radar satellites like Sentinel-1 improved the applicability of the synthetic aperture radar interferometry (InSAR) technique to investigate more moderate size events. Here the technique is used to characterize the 27 May 2017 Mw 5.2 Saruhanlı (Manisa) earthquake that took place in western Turkey in the Gediz Graben. Though seismological focal mechanism solutions of the earthquake clearly indicated that the event is due to normal faulting, the nodal plane ambiguity and the presence of two closely located faults in the epicentral region prevented the assessment of the causative fault. …

3d Surface Modeling Of Late Pleistocene Glaciers In The Munzur Mountains(Eastern Turkey) And Its Paleoclimatic Implications, Zeynel Çilğin

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Located in the Eastern Anatolian Region in Turkey, the Munzur Mountains (Munzurs; 3463 m above sea level) are one of the most important glacial landscapes in Turkey, with evidence for extensive glaciations in the past and small-scale glaciation at present. As Turkey's second-largest glaciated region, these mountains include various glacial landforms, primarily glacial valleys, hanging valleys, cirques, and moraines. However, only limited data are available on the extent and chronology of former glaciations in the Munzur Mountains. This study produced data on the extent of paleoglaciers, calculated their equilibrium line altitudes (ELAs), revealed paleoclimate conditions, and modeled paleo temperatures during …

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Groundwater quality is a crucial parameter for sustainable wetland management. The evaluation of the aquifer vulnerability is important for the protection of groundwater resources. The DRASTIC model is the most significant technique for the assessment of aquifer vulnerability. This study aimed to build a vulnerability map for groundwater of the Salda Lake wetland basin by DRASTIC method in a GIS environment. Seven environmental parameters (depth to water table, net recharge, aquifer media, soil media, topography, impact of the vadose zone media, and hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer) were used in the DRASTIC method and GIS was used to constitute a …

Determination Of Deformations By Using The Psi Technique At A Common Dump Site Ofthree Different Open-Pit Marble Mines In Turkey, Fati̇h Poyraz, Yavuz Gül, Burakhan Duymaz Jan 2020

Determination Of Deformations By Using The Psi Technique At A Common Dump Site Ofthree Different Open-Pit Marble Mines In Turkey, Fati̇h Poyraz, Yavuz Gül, Burakhan Duymaz

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Slopes are formed to carry out mining activities such as stripping, ore production, transportation, and waste management in open-pit mines. The instability of slopes is a potential source of risks for mine safety. An unexpected slope failure may damage people, buildings, and equipment in the immediate area. Moreover, it leads to the disruption of mining production and an increase in production cost. For this reason, the regular examination and systematic monitoring of slopes should be performed to determine the early warning signs of failure. Thus, it may be possible to reach acceptable risk levels and to plan and implement the …

Photochromic And Fluorescence Properties Of Coumarin Fulgimides, Khamis Nassor Ally, Leyla Öztürk, Mahmut Köse Jan 2020

Photochromic And Fluorescence Properties Of Coumarin Fulgimides, Khamis Nassor Ally, Leyla Öztürk, Mahmut Köse

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Four new fulgimides possessing a fluorescent coumarin unit were synthesized from the corresponding fulgides, and their photochromic as well as fluorescence properties were investigated. The open-ring forms of coumarin fulgimides were found to exhibit fluorescence in the visible region. Upon exposure to UV light, the fulgimides were transformed into the nonfluorescent closed-ring forms, which can be reverted to the initial fluorescent open-ring forms on exposure to visible light. The efficiency of quenching of fluorescence was as high as 95% at the photostationary state of UV irradiation.

Asymptotic Properties Of Solutions To Second-Order Difference Equations, Janusz Migda Jan 2020

Asymptotic Properties Of Solutions To Second-Order Difference Equations, Janusz Migda

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper the second-order difference equations of the form \[ \Delta^2 x_n=a_nf(n,x_{\sigma(n)})+b_n \] are considered. We establish sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions with prescribed asymptotic behavior. In particular, we present conditions under which there exists an asymptotically linear solution. Moreover, we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions.

Submanifolds Of Almost Poly-Norden Riemannian Manifolds, Selcen Yüksel Perktaş Jan 2020

Submanifolds Of Almost Poly-Norden Riemannian Manifolds, Selcen Yüksel Perktaş

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Our aim in the present paper is to initiate the study of submanifolds in an almost poly-Norden Riemannian manifold, which is a new type of manifold first introduced by Şahin [17]. We give fundamental properties of submanifolds equipped with induced structures provided by almost poly-Norden Riemannian structures and find some conditions for such submanifolds to be totally geodesics. We introduce some subclasses of submanifolds in almost poly-Norden Riemannian manifolds such as invariant and antiinvariant submanifolds. We investigate conditions for a hypersurface of almost poly-Norden Riemannian manifolds to be invariant and totally geodesic, respectively, by using the components of the structure …

Galerkin-Like Method For Solving Linear Functional Differential Equations Underinitial Conditions, Şuayi̇p Yüzbaşi, Murat Karaçayir Jan 2020

Galerkin-Like Method For Solving Linear Functional Differential Equations Underinitial Conditions, Şuayi̇p Yüzbaşi, Murat Karaçayir

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we present a weighted residual Galerkin method to solve linear functional differential equations. We consider the problem with variable coefficients under initial conditions. Assuming the exact solution of the problem has a Taylor series expansion convergent in the relevant domain, we seek a solution of the given problem in the form of a polynomial having degree $N$ of our choice. Substituting this polynomial with unknown coefficients in the given equation yields an expression linear in these coefficients. We then proceed as in the weighted residual method and take inner product of this expression with monomials up to …

Coefficient Estimation Of A Certain Subclass Of Bi-Close-To-Convex Functions Analytic In The Exterior Of The Unit Disc, Sarbeswar Barik

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we introduce two new subclasses of biunivalent functions analytic in the exterior of the unit disc. The bounds obtained for the $zero^{th}$, first and second coefficient improves upon earlier known results. The results are obtained by refining the well-known estimates for the initial coefficients of the Carth$\acute{e}$odory functions.

The $2$-Adic And $3$-Adic Valuation Of The Tripell Sequence And An Application, Jhon Jairo Bravo, Maribel Díaz, José Luis Ramírez

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Let $(T_n)_{n\geq 0}$ denote the Tripell sequence, defined by the linear recurrence $T_n=2T_{n-1} + T_{n-2}+T_{n-3}$ for $n\geq 3$ with $T_0=0$, $T_{1}=1$ and $T_2=2$ as initial conditions. In this paper, we study the $2$-adic and $3$-adic valuation of the Tripell sequence and, as an application, we determine all Tripell numbers which are factorials.

Sensitivity Analysis In Parametric Vector Optimization In Banach Spaces Via ${\Tau}^W$-Contingent Derivatives, Thanh Tung Le, Thanh Hung Pham Jan 2020

Sensitivity Analysis In Parametric Vector Optimization In Banach Spaces Via ${\Tau}^W$-Contingent Derivatives, Thanh Tung Le, Thanh Hung Pham

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

This paper is concerned with sensitivity analysis in parametric vector optimization problems via ${\tau}^w$-contingent derivatives. Firstly, relationships between the ${\tau}^w$-contingent derivative of the Borwein proper perturbation map and the ${\tau}^w$-contingent derivative of feasible map in objective space are considered. Then, the formulas for estimating the ${\tau}^w$-contingent derivative of the Borwein proper perturbation map via the ${\tau}^w$-contingent of the constraint map and the Hadamard derivative of the objective map are obtained.

On ${\Bf H}$-Curvature Of $(\Alpha,\Beta)$-Metrics, Akbar Tayebi, Masoome Razgordani Jan 2020

On ${\Bf H}$-Curvature Of $(\Alpha,\Beta)$-Metrics, Akbar Tayebi, Masoome Razgordani

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The non-Riemannian quantity ${\bf H}$ was introduced by Akbar-Zadeh to characterization of Finsler metrics of constant flag curvature. In this paper, we study two important subclasses of Finsler metrics in the class of so-called $(\alpha,\beta)$-metrics, which are defined by $F=\alpha\phi(s)$, $s=\beta/\alpha$, where $\alpha$ is a Riemannian metric and $\beta$ is a closed 1-form on a manifold. We prove that every polynomial metric of degree $k\geq 3$ and exponential metric has almost vanishing ${\bf H}$-curvature if and only if ${\bf H}=0$. In this case, $F$ reduces to a Berwald metric. Then we prove that every Einstein polynomial metric of degree $k\geq …

A Reduced Computational Matrix Approach With Convergence Estimation For Solving Model Differential Equations Involving Specific Nonlinearities Of Quartic Type, Ömür Kivanç Kürkçü Jan 2020

A Reduced Computational Matrix Approach With Convergence Estimation For Solving Model Differential Equations Involving Specific Nonlinearities Of Quartic Type, Ömür Kivanç Kürkçü

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

This study aims to efficiently solve model differential equations involving specific nonlinearities of quartic type by proposing a reduced computational matrix approach based on the generalized Mott polynomial. This method presents a reduced matrix expansion of the generalized Mott polynomial with the parameter-$\alpha$, matrix equations, and Chebyshev--Lobatto collocation points. The simplicity of the method provides fast computation while eliminating an algebraic system of nonlinear equations, which arises from the matrix equation. The method also scrutinizes the consistency of the solutions due to the parameter-$\alpha$. The oscillatory behavior of the obtained solutions on long time intervals is simulated via a coupled …

Conformally Flat Willmore Spacelike Hypersurfaces In $\Mathbb{R}^{N+1}_1$, Zonggang Deng, Tongzhu Li

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we give the equation satisfied by umbilics-free Willmore spacelike hypersurfaces using the conformal invariants in Lorentzian space forms. At the same time, we give the equation satisfied by hyperelastic spacelike curves in $2$-dimensional Lorentzian space forms and classify the closed hyperelastic spacelike curves. Finally conformally flat Willmore spacelike hypersurfaces are classified in terms of the hyperelastic spacelike curves in $2$-dimensional Lorentzian space forms.

Vector Fields And Planes In $\Mathbb{E}^4$ Which Play The Role Of Darboux Vector, Mustafa Düldül Jan 2020

Vector Fields And Planes In $\Mathbb{E}^4$ Which Play The Role Of Darboux Vector, Mustafa Düldül

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we define some new vector fields along a space curve with nonvanishing curvatures in Euclidean 4-space. By using these vector fields we determine some new planes, curves, and ruled hypersurfaces. We show that the determined new planes play the role of the Darboux vector. We also show that, contrary to their definitions, osculating curves of the first kind and rectifying curves in Euclidean 4-space can be considered as space curves whose position vectors always lie in a two-dimensional subspace. Furthermore, we construct developable and nondevelopable ruled hypersurfaces associated with the new vector fields in which the base …

Higher-Order Sturm-Liouville Problems With The Same Eigenvalues, Hanif Mirzaei Jan 2020

Higher-Order Sturm-Liouville Problems With The Same Eigenvalues, Hanif Mirzaei

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we consider self-adjoint Sturm?Liouville problem (SLP) of higher-order. We define an equivalence relation between second- and higher-order SLP. Using the Darboux lemma and equivalence relation we obtain the closed form of a family of SLP which have the same eigenvalues. Also, some spectral properties of this family of Sturm?Liouville problems are investigated.

Regular Sequences In The Subrings Of C(X), Fariborz Azarpanah, Delavar Esmaeilvandi Jan 2020

Regular Sequences In The Subrings Of C(X), Fariborz Azarpanah, Delavar Esmaeilvandi

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

We show that the intermediate subalgebras between $C^*(X)$ and C(X) do not contain regular sequences with length $\geq$ 2. This shows that depth(A(X)) $\leq$ 1 for each intermediate subalgebra A(X) between $C^*(X)$ and C(X). Whenever an intermediate subalgebra A(X) is proper, i.e. A(X) $\neq$ C(X), we observe that the depth of A(X) is exactly 1. Using this, it turns out that depth($C^*(X)$) = 0 if and only if $X$ is a pseuodocompact almost $P$ -space. The regular sequences in the subrings of the form $I + \mathbb{R}$ of C(X), where $I$ is a $z$-ideal of C(X), are also investigated and …

Discrete-Time Average-Cost Mean-Field Games On Polish Spaces, Naci̇ Saldi Jan 2020

Discrete-Time Average-Cost Mean-Field Games On Polish Spaces, Naci̇ Saldi

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In stochastic dynamic games, when the number of players is sufficiently large and the interactions between agents depend on empirical state distribution, one way to approximate the original game is to introduce infinitepopulation limit of the problem. In the infinite population limit, a generic agent is faced with a so-called mean-field game. In this paper, we study discrete-time mean-field games with average-cost criteria. Using average cost optimality equation and Kakutani's fixed point theorem, we establish the existence of Nash equilibria for mean-field games under drift and minorization conditions on the dynamics of each agent. Then, we show that the equilibrium …

We derive explicit formulæ for inverse matrix, LU -decomposition and inverse matrices $L^{-1}$ and $U^{-1}$ for all matrices. Generally, we present $q$-versions of these matrices and their related results.
