A Novel Kind Of Akns Integrable Couplings And Their Hamiltonian Structures, Yu-Juan Zhang, Wen-Xiu Ma, Ömer Ünsal

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

We present a novel hierarchy of AKNS integrable couplings based on a specific semidirect sum of Lie algebras associated with sl$(2)$. By applying the variational identity, we derive a bi-Hamiltonian structure of the resulting coupling systems, thereby showing their Liouville integrability.

More Accurate Jensen-Type Inequalities For Signed Measures Characterized Via Green Function And Applications, Mario Krnic, Josip Pecaric, Mirna Rodic

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper we derive several improved forms of the Jensen inequality, giving the necessary and sufficient conditions for them to hold in the case of the real Stieltjes measure not necessarily positive. The obtained relations are characterized via the Green function. As an application, our main results are employed for constructing some classes of exponentially convex functions and some Cauchy-type means.

On Armendariz-Like Properties In Amalgamated Algebras Along Ideals, Abdeslam Mimouni, Najib Mahdou, Mounir El Ourrachi

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Let $f: A\rightarrow B$ be a ring homomorphism and $J$ be an ideal of $B$. In this paper, we investigate the transfer of Armendariz-like properties to the amalgamation of $A$ with $B$ along $J$ with respect to $f$ (denoted by $A\bowtie^fJ)$ introduced and studied by D'Anna, Finocchiaro, and Fontana in 2009. Our aim is to provide necessary and sufficient conditions for $A\bowtie^fJ$ to be an Armendariz ring, nil-Armendariz ring, and weak Armendariz ring.

On The Bounds Of The Forgotten Topological Index, Suresh Elumalai, Toufik Mansour, Mohammad Ali Rostami

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The forgotten topological index is defined as the sum of cubes of the degrees of the vertices of the molecular graph $G.$ In this paper, we obtain, analyze, and compare various lower bounds for the forgotten topological index involving the number of vertices, edges, and maximum and minimum vertex degree. Then we give Nordhaus--Gaddum-type inequalities for the forgotten topological index and coindex. Finally, we correct the number of extremal chemical trees on 15 vertices.

Comparison Of Group Key Establishment Protocols, Serap Şahi̇n, Rabi̇a Aslanoğlu

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Recently group-oriented applications over unsecure open networks such as Internet or wireless networks have become very popular. Thus, group communication security over unsecure open networks has become a vital concern. Group key establishment (GKE) protocols are used to satisfy the confidentiality requirement of a newly started communication session by the generation or sharing of an ephemeral common key between the group members. In this study, we analyze the computation and communication efficiency of GKE protocols. Besides confidentiality, the security characteristics of identification and integrity control are also required for all steps of the protocol implementations. Thus, the main contribution of …

A Game-Theoretic Framework For Active Distribution Network Planning To Benefit Different Participants Under The Electricity Market, Bo Zeng, Jinyue Shi, Junqiang Wen, Jianhua Zhang

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

With the deregulation of the power sector, distribution system planning is transforming from the traditional integrated decision mode to the multiple-player-based decentralized paradigm. However, this could potentially cause an adverse impact on the performance of the system due to interest conflict of market players during operations. To address such an issue, this paper develops a game-theoretic framework for active distribution network planning under the electricity market. The interplay between the distribution utility (DISCO) and distributed generation investors (DGO) is formulated as a noncooperative, two-person-based Stackelberg game in which the DISCO, as the leader of the game, makes expansion of the …

Unknown Input Observer Based On Lmi For Robust Generation Residuals, Souad Tahraoui, Abdelmadjid Meghabbar, Djamila Boubekeur Jan 2017

Unknown Input Observer Based On Lmi For Robust Generation Residuals, Souad Tahraoui, Abdelmadjid Meghabbar, Djamila Boubekeur

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this paper, a method of generating robust residuals of a linear system, subject to unknown inputs, is proposed. The impact of disturbances and uncertainty may create difficulties at the decision stage of diagnosis (false alarm); this has resulted in the use of a robust observer for the unknown inputs to ensure the robustness of the system based on the unknown input observer with an optimal decoupling approach, which has a sensitivity that is minimal to unknown inputs and maximal to faults. A generation of robust residuals is then transformed into a problem of robustness/sensitivity constraints (H$_{\infty }$, H and …

Periodic Control For The Cart Pendulum System With Structured Uncertainty, Arindam Chakraborty, Jayati Dey Jan 2017

Periodic Control For The Cart Pendulum System With Structured Uncertainty, Arindam Chakraborty, Jayati Dey

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The robust stabilization of the cart pendulum system was studied under structured uncertainty with a continuous-time periodic controller. The cart pendulum system was considered here as the test set-up as it is a well-known example of an unstable nonminimum phase system. The uncertainty in the system rose due to measurement error or dry friction in it. In this paper, the robust stability of the periodic controller in the presence of uncertainty was examined. The gain margin and delay margin endow with the periodic controller were superior to those obtained in the case of linear time invariant (LTI) control even in …

Low Power 3rd Order Feedforward Sigma Delta Adc Design, Feyyaz Meli̇h Akçakaya, Günhan Dündar

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this work, a 3-bit feedforward 3rd order sigma delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is presented. In this proposed architecture, feedforward paths and multibit design help the integrator output swings to become smaller, which renders the exploitation of a telescopic cascode opamp in the integrators possible. Moreover, a double sampling method is used to relax the opamp specifications. The proposed sigma delta ADC consumes 28.2 $\mu $W and has 81.3 dB SNDR according to postlayout simulations.

A Multifunctional Dstatcom For Power Quality Improvement, Mohammad Mahdianpoor, Arash Kiyoumarsi, Mohammad Ataei, Rahmat Allah Hooshmand, Houshang Karimi

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) is used for various purposes such as load balancing, harmonic rejection, and power factor correction (PFC) in power distribution networks. In unbalanced and polluted power systems, the classic definition of power factor cannot be used for PFC due to the existence of harmonics and negative sequence components in voltage and current waveforms. In this paper, PFC is performed using the IEEE power factor definition for harmonic and unbalanced environments. Moreover, the application of a proportional-resonant (PR) controller is proposed as an effective controller in the stationary frame for DSTATCOM performance improvement. The PR controller is …

The Impact Of Sampling Frequency And Amplitude Modulation Index On Low Order Harmonics In A 3-Phase Sv-Pvm Voltage Source Inverter, Qamil Kabashi, Myzafere Limani, Nebi Caka, Milaim Zabeli

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Nowadays, variable speed AC motors are widely used in industry and there are many speed adjustment techniques available. In the last decade there has been a trend towards the use of space vector PWM--IGBT inverters, due to easier digital realization and better utilization of the DC bus. Every power inverter produces a total harmonic distortion (THD) on its output that causes extra losses in stator of induction motors. By eliminating a number of low order voltage/current harmonics it is possible to reduce harmonic losses (stator losses) and mechanical oscillations in general. This could be achieved by implementing filters in the …

Implementation Of A Personal Area Network For Secure Routing In Manets By Using Low-Cost Hardware, Himadri Nath Saha, Rohit Singh, Debika Bhattacharyya, Pranab Kumar Banerjee

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Presently, mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are being used extensively in the defense, private, domestic, etc. fields and each of these emulates a personal area network (PAN). A MANET does not require any infrastructure; moreover, it can behave as a mobile network. These features have boosted the popularity of MANETs in the community. As more and more fields become dependent on MANETs, the system needs to be more energy aware and low cost. To commercialize MANETs, the routing protocols need to be lightweight, secure, and energy efficient, and the hardware on which it is to be implemented should be low …

Minimizing Scheduling Overhead In Lre-Tl Real-Time Multiprocessor Scheduling Algorithm, Hitham Seddig Alhassan Alhussian, Mohamed Nordin Bin Zakaria, Fawnizu Azmadi Bin Hussin

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this paper, we present a modification of the local remaining execution-time and local time domain (LRE-TL) real-time multiprocessor scheduling algorithm, aimed at reducing the scheduling overhead in terms of task migrations. LRE-TL achieves optimality by employing the fairness rule at the end of each time slice in a fluid schedule model. LRE-TL makes scheduling decisions using two scheduling events. The bottom (B) event, which occurs when a task consumes its local utilization, has to be preempted in order to resume the execution of another task, if any, or to idle the processor if none exist. The critical (C) event …

Implementation Of Zero Voltage Switched Sepic/Zeta Bidirectional Converter For Low Power Applications Using Fpga, Venmathi Mahendran, Ramaprabha Ramabadran

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper presents a derived SEPIC/ZETA bidirectional converter (BDC) with reduced ripple in the noninverted output voltage. This converter is obtained by the fusion of unidirectional SEPIC and ZETA converters that ensures reduced ripple in the inductor currents. The optimal selection of duty ratio enables the proposed converter to operate either in SEPIC or ZETA mode under forward and reverse power flow. The presence of auxiliary circuit not only reduces the voltage stress on the switches by operating under zero voltage switching condition but also provides isolation between the input and the output ports. The operational principle and the stability …

An Intelligent Approach In Delay Tolerant Network Routing, Azadeh Omidvar, Karim Mohammadi Jan 2017

An Intelligent Approach In Delay Tolerant Network Routing, Azadeh Omidvar, Karim Mohammadi

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Delay tolerant networks (DTNs) are wireless intermittent networks. DTNs have different applications such as wildlife tracking, military, and space searching. Conventional mobile ad hoc network (MANET) routing protocols are not efficient in these networks because of intermittency. DTNs use store-carry-forward (SCF) for data transferring. In SCF, nodes store the messages and carry them until finding appropriate nodes for forwarding. Message replication greatly helps to improve the delivery ratio while increasing overhead. This paper examines the use of intelligent routing to choose nodes that have more probability to reach their destination. This will help to increase the message delivery ratio while …

Protection Coordination For A Distribution System In The Presence Of Distributed Generation, Muhammad Yousaf, Tahir Mahmood Jan 2017

Protection Coordination For A Distribution System In The Presence Of Distributed Generation, Muhammad Yousaf, Tahir Mahmood

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper proposes an effective strategy to overcome the impacts on coordination among protection devices due to distributed generator (DG) integration. Increased fault current magnitude and changes in power flow directions are the major impacts imposed by DGs on a typical distribution system. The recloser-fuse coordination is much influenced upon the integration of DGs. The proposed approach presents the rehabilitation of recloser-fuse coordination for post-DG integration effects using the directional properties of a recloser. The simulation results show that coordination among protection devices can be regained using fast operation of the recloser to design a fuse saving scheme in the …

A Hybrid Tracking System For Image-Guided Spine Surgery Using A Tracked Mobile C-Arm: A Phantom Study, Peyman Ghobadi Azbari, Alireza Ahmadian, Hooshang Saberi, Mohammadreza Ay, Mostafa Abdolghaffar, Keyvan Amini Khoiy

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In recent years, an increasing number of various surgeries are observed utilizing fluoroscopy. The radiation exposure received by patients and medical staff and the surgical guidance in multiple planes frequently necessitate the positioning of a mobile C-arm. Operative navigation enables a mobile C-arm to provide multiplanar surgical guidance and decreases the radiation dose to the patient and operating room personnel. In this study, we propose a video-based tracked mobile C-arm (referred to as a "tracked C-arm system") to position the system. This system defines a reference framework to maintain the video-optical tracker data and computed tomography (CT) or cone-beam CT …

Probabilistic Data Fusion Model For Heart Beat Detection From Multimodal Physiological Data, Tehseen Zia, Zulqarnian Arif Jan 2017

Probabilistic Data Fusion Model For Heart Beat Detection From Multimodal Physiological Data, Tehseen Zia, Zulqarnian Arif

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Automatic detection of heart beats constitutes the basis for electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis and mainly relies on detecting QRS complexes. Detection is typically performed by analyzing the ECG signal. However, when signal quality is low, it often leads to the triggering of false alarms. A contemporary approach to reduce false alarm rate is to use multimodal data such as arterial blood pressure (ABP) or photoplethysmogram (PPG) signals. To leverage the correlated temporal nature of these signals, a probabilistic data fusion model for heart beat detection is proposed. A hidden Markov model is used to decode waveforms into segments. A Bayesian network …

Adaptive Control Of Pure-Feedback Systems In The Presence Of Parametric Uncertainties, Mehrnoosh Asadi, Heydar Toossian Shandiz Jan 2017

Adaptive Control Of Pure-Feedback Systems In The Presence Of Parametric Uncertainties, Mehrnoosh Asadi, Heydar Toossian Shandiz

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The purpose of this study is to investigate an adaptive control approach for completely nonaffine pure-feedback systems with linear/nonlinear parameterization. In this approach, the parameter separation technique and the idea of the positive function of linearly connected parameters are coupled effectively with the combination of backstepping and time-scale separation. Subsequently, a fast dynamical equation is derived from the original subsystem, where the solution is sought to approximate the corresponding ideal virtual/actual control inputs. Furthermore, the adaptation law of unknown parameters can be derived based on Lyapunov theory in the backstepping technique and there is no need to design a state …

There are three identical 1-phase stator discs and four in-phase rotor discs in the proposed multistage AFPMG. In this research, 4 case studies were analyzed on the design of the multistage AFPMG. First, a phase shift model (PSM) positions the three 1-phase stator discs to behave as a 3-phase generator. Actually, the PSM computes phases for three …

Adslanf: A Negotiation Framework For Cloud Management Systems Using A Bulk Negotiation Behavioral Learning Approach, Rajkumar Rajavel, Mala Thangarathinam Jan 2017

Adslanf: A Negotiation Framework For Cloud Management Systems Using A Bulk Negotiation Behavioral Learning Approach, Rajkumar Rajavel, Mala Thangarathinam

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

One of the major challenges in cloud computing is the development of a service-level agreement (SLA) negotiation framework using an intelligent third-party broker negotiation strategy. Current frameworks exploit various negotiation strategies using game theoretic, heuristic, and argumentation-based approaches for obtaining optimal negotiation with a better success rate (negotiation commitment). However, these approaches fail to optimize the negotiation round (NR), total negotiation time (TNT), and communication overhead (CO) involved in the negotiation strategy. To overcome these problems, certain researchers have exploited trade-off, concession, and behavioral learning strategies with varying degrees of sacrifices (reductions) in their concerned proposal generation. Such sacrifices can …
