Determination Of Barrier Height Temperature Coefficient By Norde's Method In Ideal Co/N-Gaas Schottky Contacts, Abdulmeci̇t Turut Jan 2012

Determination Of Barrier Height Temperature Coefficient By Norde's Method In Ideal Co/N-Gaas Schottky Contacts, Abdulmeci̇t Turut

Turkish Journal of Physics

We have formed the ideal Co/n-GaAs Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs) by magnetron DC sputtering. The experimental current-voltage data of the Co/n-GaAs SBD are almost independent of the sample temperature and quite well obey the thermionic emission model from 100 K to 320 K. We have showed that the temperature coefficient of the barrier height can be determined using Norde's method instead of the temperature-dependent capacitance-voltage measurements or the flat-band barrier height values because the thermionic emission current dominates in the ideal SBDs. We have obtained a barrier height temperature coefficient value of \alpha = 0.41 meV/K for Co/n-GaAs SBDs used …

Effect Of Zinc Incorporation On The Density Of Defect States In A-Se_{85}Te_{15} Glassy Alloy, Shikha Shukla, Santosh Kumar Jan 2012

Effect Of Zinc Incorporation On The Density Of Defect States In A-Se_{85}Te_{15} Glassy Alloy, Shikha Shukla, Santosh Kumar

Turkish Journal of Physics

Present work incorporates the study of d.c. conductivity measurements at high electric fields in vacuum evaporated thin films of Se_{85-x}Te_{15}Zn_x (x = 0, 2, 4, 6 and 10) glassy alloys. Current-Voltage (I-V) characteristics have been measured at various fixed temperatures. In these samples, at low electric fields, ohmic behavior is observed. However, at high electric fields (E \sim 10^4 V/cm), non ohmic behavior is observed. An analysis of the experimental data confirms the presence of space charge limited conduction (SCLC) in the glassy materials studied in the present case. From the fitting of the data to the theory of SCLC, …

Structural And Magnetic Characterization Of Bi_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}Fe_{0.98}X_{0.02}O_3 (X = Mg, Al, Ti, V) Polycrystalline Multiferroic Compounds, Mansour Al-Haj Jan 2012

Structural And Magnetic Characterization Of Bi_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}Fe_{0.98}X_{0.02}O_3 (X = Mg, Al, Ti, V) Polycrystalline Multiferroic Compounds, Mansour Al-Haj

Turkish Journal of Physics

The multiferroic compounds Bi_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}Fe_{0.98}X_{0.02}O_3, X = Mg, Al, Ti, V, were prepared by the solid state reaction method and were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry, and differential scanning calorimetry. The compounds were found to have the rhombohedral perovskite-like structure, accompanied by the existence of small amounts of the usual impurity phases Bi_2Fe_4O_{9} and Bi_{25}FeO_{40}. The appearance of weak ferromagnetism is due to partial destruction of the spiral spin structure due to lattice distortion and suppression of oxygen vacancies. The magnetic transition temperatures of the compounds are 342, 346, 349, and 345 °C, respectively.

Design, Implementation, And Performance Analysis Of The Worldfip/Atm Local Bridge, Tuncay Aydoğan, İbrahi̇m Özçeli̇k, Aki̇f Kutlu, Hüseyi̇n Eki̇z

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

World factory instrumentation protocol (WorldFIP) is a fieldbus network protocol that provides a link between level zero (sensors/actuators) and level one (field controllers such as programmable logic controllers, etc.) in industrial automation systems. Accessing and connecting the WorldFIP remotely is important for monitoring, maintaining, and controlling devices in a factory in which asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) is used as a backbone network. In this study, a transparent WorldFIP/ATM bridge was designed and implemented in order to access devices on WorldFIP via an ATM network. This designed bridge may also provide control of the devices over wide area networks. The bridge's …

Adaptive Qos Scheduling In A Service-Oriented Grid Environment, Tan Fong Ang, Teck Chaw Ling, Keat Keong Phang

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The use of grid technology and web services for resource sharing has received tremendous attention in recent years. The merging of these 2 technologies is able to provide additional multiple types of services and functionalities. However, the problem of scheduling services to meet quality of service (QoS) requirements remains challenging. This paper proposes an adaptive QoS (AQoS) scheduling algorithm for service-oriented grid environments. AQoS uses benchmarking and curve-fitting based on historical records to estimate job length. Job length and users' QoS requirements are then used to make scheduling decisions. AQoS is able to maximize service availability, reliability, and resource utilization …

Fast Software Multiplication In F_2[X] For Embedded Processors, Serdar Süer Erdem Jan 2012

Fast Software Multiplication In F_2[X] For Embedded Processors, Serdar Süer Erdem

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

We present a novel method for fast multiplication of polynomials over F_2 which can be implemented efficiently in embedded software. Fast polynomial multiplication methods are needed for the efficient implementation of some cryptographic and coding applications. The proposed method follows a strategy to reduce the memory accesses for input data and intermediate values during computation. This strategy speeds up the binary polynomial multiplication significantly on typical embedded processors with limited memory bandwidth. These multiplications are usually performed by the comb method or the Karatsuba-based methods in embedded software. The proposed method has speed and memory advantages over these methods on …

Reconfigurable Antenna Structure For Rfid System Applications Using Varactor-Loading Technique, Yusuf Sevi̇nç, Adnan Kaya Jan 2012

Reconfigurable Antenna Structure For Rfid System Applications Using Varactor-Loading Technique, Yusuf Sevi̇nç, Adnan Kaya

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

A novel method is presented for electrically tuning the frequency of a compact radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag antenna. A tuning circuit, comprising a radio frequency (RF) switch and discrete passive components, was completely integrated into the antenna element, which is thus free of DC wires. The low-profile printed antennas were fabricated together with the layouts of the DC control circuits and other RF/baseband circuit footprints. A surface-mounted varactor was applied as a frequency-tuning element at the proper places of the meandered slots in the compact antenna. Prototype designs showed that the in-band frequency (return loss < 10 dB) was tunable from 2.4 GHz to 2.8 GHz when the bias voltage varied from 4 V to 7 V. The impact of the tuning circuit on the antenna's return loss and radiation pattern were experimentally studied through comparison with the performance of a reference antenna not incorporating the tuning circuit. The proposed frequency tuning concept can be extended to more complex compact structures as well as other types of antennas to give enhanced electrical performance.

Research On Cutoff Wavelength Of Dominant Mode And Field Patterns In Trapezoidal Microshield Lines, Hai Sun, Yujiang Wu

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The influence of the position of the metallic signal strip on the cutoff characteristic of the dominant mode and the field patterns in 3 types of trapezoidal microshield lines are calculated by the edge-based finite element method. These trapezoidal microshield lines include trapezoidal microshield lines with a single signal line, dual signal lines, and 3 signal lines. The cutoff wavelength of the dominant mode can be adjusted by changing the dimensions of metallic signal strips as well as by adjusting their positions. Field patterns of the dominant mode and the first-higher-order mode for different dimensions and the dielectric constant of …

Effects Of Diacritics On Turkish Information Retrieval, Adi̇l Alpkoçak, Meltem Ceylan Jan 2012

Effects Of Diacritics On Turkish Information Retrieval, Adi̇l Alpkoçak, Meltem Ceylan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

We investigate the effects of improper use of diacritics in the Turkish alphabet on information retrieval. A diacritic is simply a supplementary sign added to a letter to change the sound value of the letter, and the Turkish alphabet has 5 special letters derived from Latin by adding different diacritics. The statistical analysis performed in this study shows that retrieval performance significantly decreases when documents and queries contain letters with different forms, such that documents consist of letters with diacritics while queries consist of standard Latin letters and vice versa. In order to tackle this challenge, we propose 3 approaches: …

\Delta (E2/M1) And X(E0/E2) Mixing Ratios In ^{134}Ba By Means Of Ibm-2, Abdul Ridha Hussain Subber, Flih Hussain Al-Khudair

Turkish Journal of Physics

The ^{134}Ba isotope (Z = 56) lies in the transitional region closer to the vibrational range of nuclei. Energy levels B(E2), B(M1) and the mixing ratios \delta (E2/M1) and X(E0/E2) for selected transitions were calculated in the framework of the proton-neutron interacting boson model (IBM-2). All results were compared with experimental data. Some experimental X(E0/E2) ratios were calculated from available experimental data. Majorana parameters were found to have a great effect on the calculated energy levels of the 2_3^+ and 2_4^+, which indicate that both of them have mixed symmetry properties.

Carbon Isotope And Stomatal Data Of Late Pliocene Betulaceae Leaves From Sw China: Implications For Palaeoatmospheric Co2-Levels, Bainian Sun, Suting Ding, Jingyu Wu, Chong Dong, Sanping Xie, Zhicheng Lin

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The cuticular \delta^1^3C values and stomatal parameters (stomatal density and stomatal index: SD and SI) of two Betulaceae species, Betula mioluminifera Hu et Chaney and Carpinus miofangiana Nathorst, from a suite of superposed horizons in West Yunnan, southwestern China, were measured in order to recover Late Pliocene CO2 levels. Correlations are given for \delta^1^3C, SD, epidermal cell density (ECD), and SI. \delta^1^3C reveals a positive trend with the SD and SI in the two species, and such a positive correlation can also be observed between the \delta^1^3C and ECD in C. miofangiana. However, \delta^1^3C has a slightly negative correlation with …

Kinematics And Basin Formation Along The Ezinepazar-Sungurlu Fault Zone, Ne Anatolia, Turkey, Mehmet Korhan Erturaç, Okan Tüysüz

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

The Ezinepazar-Sungurlu Fault (EzSF) is a major offshoot of the dextral North Anatolian Fault (NAF) zone, which bifurcates from the main fault strand around the Niksar pull-apart basin (37°E) and strikes through the Central Anatolian Block for 200 km to the west (34°E). The easternmost segment of the EzSF, the Ezinepazar Fault (EzF), which ruptured during the 1939 Erzincan earthquake (Mw= 7.8), has a very remarkable expression as a single-strand fault. Micromammal dating of young sediments along this segment indicate that the EzF was initiated during the Middle Pleistocene (0.7-1 Ma) and propagated westward accumulating 6.5±0.5 km maximum morphological offset. …

Three-Dimensional Numerical Simulation Of Crystal And Crucible Rotations During Czochralski Growth Of Ge_Xsi_{1-X} Single Crystals, Serkan Abbasoğlu

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The influence of crystal and crucible rotations on the flow field and the radial segregation of silicon are predicted during the growth of Ge_xSi_{1-x} crystals by the Czochralski method under microgravity conditions. Time-dependent 3-dimensional numerical simulations are carried out to present the influence of several rotation rates on the radial segregation and flow fields during the growth of Ge_xSi_{1-x}. Thermal and solutal Marangoni convection are also considered during this study. Different crystal rotation rates varying between 0 and 30 rpm and stationary or -2 rpm crucible rotation rates are considered. The results show that the crystal and crucible rotation rates …

Product Of Graded Submodules, Ameer Jaber Jan 2012

Product Of Graded Submodules, Ameer Jaber

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Let \Delta be an abelian group. By considering the notion multiplication of \Delta-graded modules (see [7]) over a commutative \Delta-graded ring with unity, we introduce the notion of product of two \Delta-graded submodules which we use to characterize the \Delta-graded prime submodules of a multiplication \Delta-graded module. Finally we proved a graded version of Nakayama lemma for multiplication \Delta-graded modules.

The Character Variety Of A Class Of Rational Links, Khaled Qazaqzeh Jan 2012

The Character Variety Of A Class Of Rational Links, Khaled Qazaqzeh

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Let G_n be the fundamental group of the exterior of the rational link C(2n) in Conway's normal form, see [7]. A presentation for G_n is given by \langle a, b (ab)^n = (ba)^n\rangle [3, Thm. 2.2]. We study the character variety in SL(2, C) of the group G_n. In particular, we give the defining polynomial of the character variety of G_n. As an application, we show a well-known result that G_n and G_m are isomorphic only when n = m. Also as a consequence of the main theorem of this paper, we give a basis of the Kauffman bracket skein …

On F_S-Supplemented Primary Subgroups Of Finite Groups, Lujin Zhu, Long Miao

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Let G be a finite group and F a formation of finite groups. A subgroup H of G is called F_s-supplemented in G if there exists a subnormal subgroup T of G such that G = HT and (H \cap T)H_G/H_G is contained in the F-hypercenter Z^F_{\infty}(G/H_G) of G/H_G. In this paper, we study the structure of finite groups by using F_s-supplemented subgroups.

C^*-Convexity And C^*-Faces In *-Rings, Ali Ebrahimi Meymand, Gholam Hossein Esslamzadeh

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Existence of rich algebraic, geometric and topological structures on self-adjoint operator algebras raises the general question that, for a particular theorem which of these structures have made the result work. The present paper is an effort toward the answer of this question, by investigating the role of algebraic structure in the subject of C^*-convexity. In this paper, we extend the notions of C^*-convexity, C^*-extreme point and C^*-face to *-rings and we study some of their properties. We introduce the notion of C^*-convex map on C^*-convex subsets of a *-ring. Moreover we identify optimal points of some unital *-homomorphisms on some …

Small Covers Over Products Of A Polygon With A Simplex, Yanying Wang, Yanchang Chen Jan 2012

Small Covers Over Products Of A Polygon With A Simplex, Yanying Wang, Yanchang Chen

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The equivariant homeomorphism class of an (orientable) small cover over a simple convex polytope P^n bijectively corresponds to the equivalence class of its (orientable) coloring under the action of automorphism group of face poset of P^n. By calculating the number of orbits of group actions we determine the number of equivariant homeomorphism classes of small covers over products of a polygon with a simplex. Moreover, we calculate the number of equivariant homeomorphism classes of all orientable small covers over the product.
