Nebraska Tractor Tests
All tractors tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory were certified by their manufacturers as being stock model machines, conforming to specifications filed with the application for test. No special or high-test fuels were used except as recommended by the manufacturer as necessary.
All results within the official tractor test report were actually attained in tests and are without correction or allowances for friction, temperature, altitude, etc. The results were initially accomplished with the tractor in charge of skilled operators employed by the University.
Unless otherwise noted, each tractor was apparently in good condition at the end of the testing …

Duck, Goose And Pheasant Records From Ogallala Game Dressing Station, 1943-1946, John H. Wampole
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts
For several seasons records of the number of ducks brought in to be dressed have been kept at an Ogallala dressing station. Records have been tabulated and summarized in an effort to measure the hunter success. Since no record of hunter-days or hunter-trips is obtainable, this report is based upon seasonal totals, daily averages, and numbers per bag. Table III (page 27) shows the number of bags, seasonal totals and average numbers of birds per bag. Table IV shows the take by months and Table V shows the averages per day for the three months of each season.
Wildlife Records From Mail Carriers In April, Levi L. Mohler
Wildlife Records From Mail Carriers In April, Levi L. Mohler
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts
608 mail carriers kept records of game birds seen during the week of April 21 - 26. This was the eighth time that mail carriers have cooperated on a statewide basis. April counts were omitted in 1946 but comparisons are made below of 1945 and 1947 data.
The mail carriers' work provides an inexpensive method of getting extensive statewide observations, and informational bulletins returned to the carriers are of definite value as a public relations step. (Many ot the carriers send in long letters, in addition to the card form, and in a number of instances they have reported information …

The Geologic History Of The Bison In The Great Plains (A Preliminary Report), C. Bertrand Schultz, W. D. Frankforter
Bulletin of the University of Nebraska State Museum
THE GEOLOGIC history of the bison in North America is a subject which has received little attention to date. Osteological rather than geological problems have been the main concern of most writers who have so far published. If the geologic history of the bison is to be learned, it will be necessary to devote more time and effort in the field in determining the age of the deposits in which various specimens have been discovered and in making more extensive collections from deposits of known age. Unfortunately the majority of the type specimens have been surface finds and little attempt …

Physical And Chemical Properties Of Soil Profiles Of The Burchard And Steinauer Series, Henry W. Smith, H. F. Rhoades
Physical And Chemical Properties Of Soil Profiles Of The Burchard And Steinauer Series, Henry W. Smith, H. F. Rhoades
Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station: Historical Research Bulletins
The purpose of this bulletin is to report an investigation of the soils mapped as types of the Burchard and Steinauer series. Burchard soils are described as nearly mature Prairie soils, and Steinauer soils as Lithosols, by the Division of Soil Survey. The C horizons of soils of both series consist of calcareous glacial drift. A part of the conclusions drawn from the investigation of these soils is based upon observations made in the field in southeastern Nebraska, the remainder upon laboratory data for samples taken by horizons from nine profiles.

Corona Discharge From Antenna Wire: A First Partial Report, Robert Katz
Corona Discharge From Antenna Wire: A First Partial Report, Robert Katz
Robert Katz Publications
Purpose: 1. To examine the conditions for corona at the surface of a wire. This report is a theoretical discussion. No test procedure was used.
Conclusions:
1. Calculation of the gradient at the surface of the fixed-wire liaison antenna (bare copperweld, .040" diameter) on the B-17 airplane indicates that it is of the order of 200 times the gradient measured at the top generating voltmeter.
2. Further work will be done by the Special Devices Branch in an attempt to determine the conditions under which insulated wire goes into corona.

A Theorem On The Unit Groups Of Simple Algebras, Ralph Hull
A Theorem On The Unit Groups Of Simple Algebras, Ralph Hull
Department of Mathematics: Faculty Publications
Let k be an algebraic number field of finite degree m and let A be a normal simple algebra of degree n, order n2, over k. Our object is to prove the following theorem.
THEOREM. If A is an R-algebra, that is, if n>2 or at least one infinite prime place of k is unramified in A when n=2, then any two distinct maximal orders of A have distinct groups of units.
On Certain Arithmetical Functions Due To G. Humbert, M. A. Basoco
On Certain Arithmetical Functions Due To G. Humbert, M. A. Basoco
Department of Mathematics: Faculty Publications
G. Humbert has discussed, in a series of brief notes, a certain class of entire functions with interesting arithmetical properties. These functions are defined, in an essentially unique manner, by certain functional equations. The Fourier series representations of the solutions of these equations are similar in form to those for the elliptic functions snu, cnu, dnu, and so on. They differ from these, however, in that their domain of validity extends throughout the entire complex plane (Z∞ excluded) and moreover, in that their arithmetized forms involve incomplete numerical functions of the divisors of an integer.

Censusing Pheasants By Detonations, H. Elliot Mcclure
Censusing Pheasants By Detonations, H. Elliot Mcclure
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: Staff Research Publications
A study of the ecology and management of the ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus c. torquatus) was begun in Nebraska in the spring of 1941. Prime among the objectives of the survey was to devise some method by which the populations could be estimated or counted. In conjunction with roadside counts as practiced in Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania and other states, attempts were made to derive a closer estimate than by that method. Every game technician working with roadside counts of pheasants realizes the difficulties involved. Having had success in estimating the numbers of mourning doves by counting their calls …
