On The Geometry Of Null Curves In The Minkowski 4-Space, Recep Aslaner, A. İhsan Boran
On The Geometry Of Null Curves In The Minkowski 4-Space, Recep Aslaner, A. İhsan Boran
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we study the basic results on the general study of null curves in the Minkowski 4-space R_1^4. A transversal vector bundle of a null curve in R_1^4 is constructed using a frenet Frame consisting of two real null and two space-like vectors. The null curves are characterized by using the Frenet frame.
Integral And Homothetic Indecomposability With Applications To Irreducibility Of Polynomials, Fati̇h Koyuncu, Ferruh Özbudak
Integral And Homothetic Indecomposability With Applications To Irreducibility Of Polynomials, Fati̇h Koyuncu, Ferruh Özbudak
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Being motivated by some methods for construction of homothetically indecomposable polytopes, we obtain new methods for construction of families of integrally indecomposable polytopes. As a result, we find new infinite families of absolutely irreducible multivariate polynomials over any field F. Moreover, we provide different proofs of some of the main results of Gao [2].

Partial Open Book Decompositions And The Contact Class In Sutured Floer Homology, Tolga Etgü, Burak Özbağci
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We demonstrate how to combinatorially calculate the EH-class of a compatible contact structure in the sutured Floer homology group of a balanced sutured three manifold which is associated to an abstract partial open book decomposition. As an application we show that every contact three manifold (closed or with convex boundary) can be obtained by gluing tight contact handlebodies whose EH-classes are nontrivial.

Uniqueness For Meromorphic Functions And Differential Polynomials, Chao Meng
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this article, we deal with the uniqueness problems on meromorphic functions concerning differential polynomials and prove the following result: Let f and g be two transcendental meromorphic functions, \alpha be a meromorphic function such that T(r,\alpha)=o(T(r,f)+T(r,g)) and \alpha \not\equiv 0,\infty. Let a be a nonzero constant. Suppose that m,n are positive integers such that n>m+10. If \Psi_f' and \Psi_g' share ``(0,2)", then (i) if m\geq 2, then f(z)\equiv g(z); (ii) if m=1, either f(z)\equiv g(z) or f and g satisfy the algebraic equation R(f,g)\equiv 0, where R(\varpi_1,\varpi_2)=(n+1)(\varpi_1^{n+2}-\varpi_2^{n+2})-(n+2)(\varpi_1^{n+1} -\varpi_2^{n+1}). The results in this paper improve the results of Xiong-Lin-Mori …

Oscillation Of Nonlinear Neutral Delay Differential Equations Of Second-Order With Positive And Negative Coefficients, Mustafa Kemal Yildiz, Başak Karpuz, Özkan Öcalan
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Some oscillation criteria for the following second-order neutral differential equation [x(t)\pm r(t) f( x(t-\gamma))]''+p(t) g(x(t-\alpha)) -q(t) g(x(t-\beta )) = s(t) where t\geq t_0, \gamma,\alpha,\beta \in R^+ with \alpha \geq \beta, r \in C^2([t_0,\infty ), R^+) , p,q\in C([t_0,\infty ),R^+) and f,g\in C(R,R), s\in C([ t_0,\infty),R) have been obtained. Our results are not restricted with boundedness of solutions.

Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Let \A be a unital Banach algebra and let m, 1 \leq m \leq 4, be an integer. If f: \A \to \A is an approximate m-order derivation in the sense of Hyers-Ulam-Rassias, then f: \A \to \A is an exact m-order derivation.

Perturbation Of Closed Range Operators, Mohammad Sal Moslehian, Ghadir Sadeghi
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Let T, A be operators with domains D(T) \subseteq D(A) in a normed space X. The operator A is called T-bounded if Ax \leq a x +b Tx for some a, b\geq 0 and all x \in D(T). If A has the Hyers--Ulam stability then under some suitable assumptions we show that both T and S: = A+T have the Hyers--Ulam stability. We also discuss the best constant of Hyers--Ulam stability for the operator S. Thus we establish a link between T-bounded operators and Hyers--Ulam stability.

Lebesgue-Stieltjes Measure On Time Scales, Asli Deni̇z, Ünal Ufuktepe
Lebesgue-Stieltjes Measure On Time Scales, Asli Deni̇z, Ünal Ufuktepe
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The theory of time scales was introduced by Stefan Hilger in his Ph. D. thesis in 1988, supervised by Bernd Auldbach, in order to unify continuous and discrete analysis [5]. Measure theory on time scales was first constructed by Guseinov [4], then further studies were made by Guseinov-Bohner [1], Cabada-Vivero [2] and Rzezuchowski [6]. In this article, we adapt the concept of Lebesgue-Stieltjes measure to time scales. We define Lebesgue-Stieltjes \Delta and \nabla-measures and by using these measures, we define an integral adapted to time scales, specifically Lebesgue-Stieltjes \Delta-integral. We also establish the relation between Lebesgue-Stieltjes measure and Lebesgue-Stieltjes \Delta-measure, …
Korovkin Type Error Estimates For Positive Linear Operators Involving Some Special Functions, Ogün Doğru, Esra Erkuş-Duman
Korovkin Type Error Estimates For Positive Linear Operators Involving Some Special Functions, Ogün Doğru, Esra Erkuş-Duman
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In the present paper, we introduce a new sequence of linear positive operators with the help of generating functions. We obtain some Korovkin type approximation properties for these operators and compute rates of convergence by means of the first and second order modulus of continuities and Peetre´s K-functional. In order to obtain explicit expressions for the first and second moment of our operators, we obtain a functional differential equation including our operators. Furthermore, we deal with a modification of our operators converging to integral of function f on the interval (0,1).

On \Tau-Lifting Modules And \Tau-Semiperfect Modules, Mustafa Alkan
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Motivated by [1], we study on \tau-lifting modules (rings) and \tau-semiperfect modules (rings) for a preradical \tau and give some equivalent conditions. We prove that; i) if M is a projective \tau-lifting module with \tau(M) \subseteq \delta(M), then M has the finite exchange property; ii) if R is a left hereditary ring and \tau is a left exact preradical, then every \tau-semiperfect module is \tau--lifting; iii) R is \tau-lifting if and only if every finitely generated free module is \tau-lifting if and only if every finitely generated projective module is \tau-lifting; iv) if \tau (R) \subseteq \delta (R), then R …

Approximation By Certain Linear Operators Preserving X^2, Lucyna Rempulska, Karolina Tomczak
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
We investigate certain positive linear operators L_n preserving the functions e_k (x)=x^k, k=0, 1, and modified operators L_n^* which preserve e_0 and e_2. We show that the error of approximation of f by L_n^* (f) is smaller than for L_n(f).

On \Phi-Recurrent Kenmotsu Manifolds, Uday Chand De, Ahmet Yildiz, Funda Yaliniz
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The object of this paper is to study \phi-recurrent Kenmotsu manifolds. Also three-dimensional locally \phi-recurrent Kenmotsu manifolds have been considered. Among others it is proved that a locally \phi-recurrent Kenmotsu spacetime is the Robertson-Walker spacetime. Finally we give a concrete example of a three-dimensional Kenmotsu manifold.

Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper we study constant angle surfaces in Euclidean 3--space. Even that the result is a consequence of some classical results involving the Gauss map (of the surface), we give another approach to classify all surfaces for which the unit normal makes a constant angle with a fixed direction.

Applications Of The Golden Ratio On Riemannian Manifolds, Cristina-Elena Hretcanu, Mircea Craşmareanu
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
The Golden Ratio is a fascinating topic that continually generates new ideas. The main purpose of the present paper is to point out and find some applications of the Golden Ratio and of Fibonacci numbers in Differential Geometry. We study a structure defined on a class of Riemannian manifolds, called by us a Golden Structure. A Riemannian manifold endowed with a Golden Structure will be called a Golden Riemannian manifold. Precisely, we say that an (1,1)-tensor field \widetilde{P} on a m-dimensional Riemannian manifold (\widetilde{M}, \widetilde{g}) is a Golden Structure if it satisfies the equation \widetilde{P}^{2}=\widetilde{P}+I (which is similar to that …

Criteria Of Nilpotency And Influence Of Contranormal Subgroups On The Structure Of Infinite Groups, Leonid Andreevich Kurdachenko, Javier Otal, Igor Yakov Subbotin
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
Following J.S. Rose, a subgroup H of a group G is called contranormal if G=H^G. In a certain sense, contranormal subgroups are antipodes to subnormal subgroups. It is well known that a finite group is nilpotent if and only if it has no proper contranormal subgroups. However, for infinite groups this criterion is not valid. There are examples of non-nilpotent infinite groups whose subgroups are subnormal; in particular, these groups have no contranormal subgroups. Nevertheless, for some classes of infinite groups, the absence of contranormal subgroups implies nilpotency of the group. The present article is devoted to the search of …

Killing And Geodesic Lightlike Hypersurfaces Of Indefinite Sasakian Manifolds, Fortune Massamba
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
In this paper, we study a lightlike hypersurface of indefinite Sasakian manifold, tangent to the structure vector field \xi. Theorems on parallel and Killing distributions are obtained. Necessary and sufficient conditions have been given for lightlike hypersurface to be mixed totally geodesic, D-totally geodesic, D\perp-totally geodesic and D'-totally geodesic. We prove that, if the screen distribution of lightlike hypersurface M of indefinite Sasakian manifold is totally umbilical, the D\perp-geodesibility of M is equivalent to the D\perp-parallelism of the distribution T M^\perp of rank 1 (Theorem \ref{Theoscre}). Finally, we give the D\perp-version (Theorem 4.22) of the Theorem 2.2 ([11], page 88).

Dual Quaternions In Spatial Kinematics In An Algebraic Sense, Bedi̇a Akyar
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
This paper presents the finite spatial displacements and spatial screw motions by using dual quaternions and Hamilton operators. The representations are considered as 4 \times 4 matrices and the relative motion for three dual spheres is considered in terms of Hamilton operators for a dual quaternion. The relation between Hamilton operators and the transformation matrix has been given in a different way. By considering operations on screw motions, representation of spatial displacements is also given.

Let R be a commutative ring with identity and M be an R-module with Spec(M) \neq \phi. A cover of the R-submodule K of M is a subset C of Spec(M) satisfying that for any x \in K, x \neq 0, there is N \in C such that ann(x) \subset (N:M). If we denote by J = \bigcap_{N \in C} (N:M) and assume that M is finitely generated, then JM=M implies that M=0, M is called C-injective provided each R-homomorphism \phi : (N:M) \rightarrow M with N \in C can be lifted to an R-homomorphism \lambda : R \rightarrow M. …

Linear Connections On Light-Like Manifolds, Teki̇n Dereli̇, Şahi̇n Koçak, Murat Li̇moncu
Turkish Journal of Mathematics
It is well-known that a torsion-free linear connection on a light-like manifold (M,g) compatible with the degenerate metric g exists if and only if Rad(TM) is a Killing distribution. In case of existence, there is an infinitude of connections with none distinguished. We propose a method to single out connections with the help of a special set of 1-forms by the condition that the 1-forms become parallel with respect to this connection. Such sets of 1-forms could be regarded as an additional structure imposed upon the light-like manifold. We consider also connections with torsion and with non-metricity on light-like manifolds.
