Electrochemical Investigations Of Semiconductor Silicon Wafers, Xuan Cheng, Chang Jian Lin Aug 2000

Electrochemical Investigations Of Semiconductor Silicon Wafers, Xuan Cheng, Chang Jian Lin

Journal of Electrochemistry

Electrochemical characteristics of semiconductor silicon wafers were investigated in dilute hydrofluoric acid solutions using DC polarization and AC impedance techniques under both illuminated and dark conditions. Both techniques were extremely sensitive to the trace amount (10 -9 wt% level) of copper presented in solutions, but only sensitive to the 10 -6 wt% level of non ionic surfactant OHS contained in solutions. The results revealed that the electrochemical reactions took place favorably and became predominated at silicon/solution interface under illuminated condition.

Mechanisimic Study Of Fes Electrode Process, Cong-Sheng Guan, Shu-Zhen Duan Aug 2000

Mechanisimic Study Of Fes Electrode Process, Cong-Sheng Guan, Shu-Zhen Duan

Journal of Electrochemistry

The mechanism of FeS electrode process has been investigated by using linear cyclic voltammetry. The electrode porcess of FeS is accompanied with the formation and dissolution of insoluble FeS and controlled by ohmic resistance. The peak currents and potentials on the cyclic voltammograms are dependent lineally on the square root of the scan rates. According to this, an ohmic resistance controlling model of FeS electrode has been put forward, and the relative functions between peak currents or potentials and scan rates have been deduced. The theoretical deduction is corresponding to the results of the experiments.

The Effect Of Anode Thickness In Sofcs With Anode Supported Ysz Film, Yi Huang Zhang, Yi Jiang, Zi Gui Lu, Yong-Lai Dong, Jing-Wang Yan

Journal of Electrochemistry

Solid oxide fuel cells with supported yttria stabilized zirconia electrolyte films on anode substrates of various thickness have been fabricated. The electrochemical performances of the SOFCs have been examined. The results showed that the cell performance was limited by the anodic overpotential, which is caused mainly by a concentration polarization when the anode substrate is thick. The anodic overpotential was reduced obviously as the thickness of anode substrate was decreased. As a result, the performance of the SOFC cell was improved. With a 0.5 mm anode substrate, a SOFC cell produced a power density about 0.19 W/cm 2 at 800 …

The Lineal Polarization Method For Corrosion Rate Measurement Of Reinforcing Bar Of Concrete In Situ, Ai-Ling Du, Wen-Tao Hou, He-Ming Zhang, Jian-Qun Luo

Journal of Electrochemistry

A linear polarization method was applied to measure corrosion rate of reinforcing bar of concrete in situ. Generally in the experiment, the area and shape of the reinforcing bar as a working electrode can be changed and adjusted according to our needs. But polarization area cannot be defined when reinforcing bar is polarized in situ, so that a real R p can't be obtained. Thus the purpose of present work is to improve the measurement system. We used the double_ring auxiliary electrodes made by ourselves. The size of the double_ring auxiliary electrodes was adjusted repeatedly until the real polarization area …

The Electrochemical Polymerization Of Erythrosin And The Fluorescence Spectra Of Polyerythrosin, Hong Ping Zhu, Shao Lin Mu

Journal of Electrochemistry

The solution used for the electrolysis consisted of 0.03 mol·dm -3 erythrosin, 0.05 mol·dm -3 sodium tetraborate and 0.5 mol·dm -3 KCl with pH 8.50. Polyerythrosin film with red color has been electrochemically synthesized using repeated potential cycling between -0.20 and 1.10 V (vs.SCE). The film growth and the electrochemical property of polyerythrosin are affected by electrolytic conditions. Two main absorption peaks of polyerythrosin at 326 nm and 370 nm appear in the UV visible spectrum, which are different from that of the monomer. Polyerythrosin in dimethyl sulfoxide or dimethylformamide has a strong fluorescence intensity and the fluorescence intensity of …

Journal of Electrochemistry

In this paper, we have synthesized series of single_phase LiAl yNi 1-y O 2 (differentive in value_y) by solid reaction. Through examining their electrothemical properties, found that, under a proper sintering condition, Li xAl 0.25 Ni 0.75 O 2 solution for cathode materials of rechargeable lithium ion batteries showed more pleasing properties in overcharge_resist and cycling life ( vs LiNiO 2). When x>1, the capacity can be kept 125mAh/g after 30 cycles under higher charged/discharged voltages ranging from 3.0 V to 4.8 V, whereas that of pure LiNiO 2 has only 61 nAh/g after 25 cycles. The results of …

Journal of Electrochemistry

Electrochemical etching of single crystal GaAs (111) was performed with a regular mold which resembles the micro_gear patterns. The etched patterns on GaAs was very consistent with the negative copies of the mold when the confined etchant layer technique (CELT) was used. However when the scavenger chemical of H 3AsO 3 was not added in the etching solution, the regular micro_gear patterns of the mold could not be obtained. In addition ,the procedure of fabricating a electrochemical mold is introduced and the characteristics of the mold are briefly discussed.

Cathodic Indirect Oxidation Of Organic Compounds(Ⅱ)——Cathodic Indirect Epoxidation Of Olefine, Xue Ying Zhang, Bao Qiu Cui, Deng Ping Gu, Wei Li

Journal of Electrochemistry

We described a novel cathodic indirect epoxidation system in which O 2 was first cathodically reduced to H 2O 2. Then VO(acac) 2 was oxidized by H 2O 2 homogeneously to VO(acac) 2OOH which was used to epoxidize some olefine such as maleic, fumaric and crotonic acids. Many affecting factors on the current efficiency were optimized. The research will contribute to the developments of organic electrosynthesis.

Bounded Point Evaluations And Local Spectral Theory, Abdellatif Bourhim

Mathematics - All Scholarship

We study in this paper the concept of bounded point evaluations for cyclic operators. We give a negative answer to a question of L.R. Williams Dynamic Systems and Apllications 3(1994) 103-112. Furthermore, we generalize some results of Williams and give a simple proof of theorem 2.5 of L.R. Williams (The Local Spectra of Pure Quasinormal Operators J. Math. anal. Appl. 187(1994) 842-850) that non normal hyponormal weighted shifts have fat local spectra.

Exploring The Structure Of A Possible Light Scalar Nonet, Joseph Schechter, Deirdre Black, Amir H. Fariborz Aug 2000

Exploring The Structure Of A Possible Light Scalar Nonet, Joseph Schechter, Deirdre Black, Amir H. Fariborz

Physics - All Scholarship

We first review the work of the Syracuse group, which uses an effective chiral Lagrangian approach, on meson-meson scattering. An illustration providing evidence for the existence of a strange scalar resonance of mass around 900 MeV is given. An attempt to fit this \kappa (900) together with a similarly obtained \sigma (560) and the well known a_0(980) and f_0(980) into a nonet pattern suggests that the underlying structure is closer to a dual quark-dual antiquark than to a quark-antiquark. A possible mechanism to explain a next higher-in mass scalar meson nonet is also discussed. This involves mixing between q{\bar q} …

Total Cross Sections For Dissociative Electron Attachment In Dichloroalkanes And Selected Polychloroalkanes: The Correlation With Vertical Attachment Energies, Kayvan Aflatooni, Paul Burrow

Paul Burrow Publications

Electron attachment into the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital of a typical polychloroalkane in the gas phase forms a temporary negative ion in which the impinging electron resides on a combination of local C–Cl σ* orbitals. Because of the antibonding character of these orbitals, these anions may dissociate, producing Cl- with cross sections that vary enormously over the chloroalkane family. In this work, we present absolute total dissociative electron attachment (DEA) cross sections for 33 of these compounds, and we show that the peak values of the cross sections correlate strongly with the vertical attachment energies (VAEs) for formation of …

An Improved Channel Model For Adsl And Vdsl Systems, D. Franklin, Jiangtao Xi, Joe F. Chicharo Aug 2000

An Improved Channel Model For Adsl And Vdsl Systems, D. Franklin, Jiangtao Xi, Joe F. Chicharo

Faculty of Informatics - Papers (Archive)

This paper examines existing channel models used with xDSL systems and identifies a key shortcoming - namely, the implicit assumption that all impulse noise originates at the transmitter. Based on extensive data collected from the local loop, a new model is proposed which addresses this problem by combining a digital filter model of the transmission line with a distributed noise source. This better reflects the nature of a real telephone line, and thus provides a more solid basis for simulation and optimisation of xDSL systems.

On The Infomax Algorithm For Blind Signal Separation, Jiangtao Xi, Joe F. Chicharo, Ah Chung Tsoi, W. C. Siu

Faculty of Informatics - Papers (Archive)

This paper provides an analytical examination of the INFOMAX algorithm and establishes its effectiveness for blind signal separation using extensive simulation results. Results obtained show that the INFOMAX is not able to separate signal sources unless signal pre-processing is carried-out whereby the data to train the separating matrix is decorrelated. Further, results also show that if one uses the decorrelation pre-process alone it is able to effectively separate signal sources in many instances. Hence we conclude that the INFOMAX algorithm may not be a useful approach for signal separation.

An Examination Of Ip/Atm Cut-Through Forwarding In Dynamically Routed Networks, P. Boustead, Joe F. Chicharo Aug 2000

An Examination Of Ip/Atm Cut-Through Forwarding In Dynamically Routed Networks, P. Boustead, Joe F. Chicharo

Faculty of Informatics - Papers (Archive)

Multiprotocol over ATM (MPOA), IP switching and multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) have distinctly different mechanisms for cut-through packet forwarding. MPOA and IP switching use flow-based cut-through (FBC) forwarding while MPLS uses routing table linked cut-through forwarding (TLC). This paper examines the sensitivity of each these cut-through forwarding mechanisms to changes in underlying routing tables. We examine a scenario where a congestion-sensitive dynamic routing protocol, such as OSPF optimised multipath, leads to frequently changing routing tables. We show that FBC forwarding reacts significantly worse than flow length distributions predict, taking up to 1200 seconds to react to route changes and forward …
