Step-By-Step Modification Of Graphite Felt Electrode For Vanadium Redox Flow Battery, Jing-Yuan Lou, Dong-Jiang You, Xue-Jing Li
Journal of Electrochemistry
As a well-known electrode material of the vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB),graphite felt electrode is the frequently-used electrode material in VRFB, and its low electrochemical activity is one of the key factors for the low power density of VRFB. In this work, we proposed a step-by-step modification method, which used KMnO4 to oxidize graphite felt first and then placed in an activation solution to excite its reactivity, to improve the electrochemical performance of the graphite felt electrode. According to the results from cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) characterizations …

Water electrolysis for hydrogen production is beneficial for solving the problem of energy crisis and environmental issues. It is necessary to study highly active and cost-effective catalysts toward hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) to reduce the consumption of noble metals. Herein, we report the synthesis of core-shell structured Ru@Pt0.24Ru nanoflowers electrocatalyst by stepwise reduction of Ru and Pt precursors in the mixture of oleylamine and benzyl alcohol at 160 oC. The average diameter of the resultant Ru@Pt0.24Ru was 16.5±4.0 nm with a bulk atomic ratio between Pt and Ru of 0.24:1 and a surface ratio of …

Preparation And Process Optimization Of Cathode Materials For Lithium-Sulfur Batteries, Kai Wu
Journal of Electrochemistry
Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries represent promising candidates for next-generation energy storage system due to their high energy density and low material cost. However, the industrial application of Li-S batteries remains challenges because of the shuttle effect from lithium polysulfides and the lack of facial routes for Li-S battery preparation. To solve these problems, a cathode consisting of different commercial carbon materials, namely, acetylene black (SP), Ketjen Black (KB) and carbon nanotube (CNT), with sulfur (S) is prepared separately for Li-S battery. After the process of 8-h ball milling for KB/S composite, together with the polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) binder, the cathode could …

Journal of Electrochemistry
Cerium dioxide (CeO2) thin films have been applied as new material in many technical fields such as solid oxide fuel cells, catalysts, UV absorbents, pharmacology, and coatings for corrosion protection of many metals and alloys. Electrodeposition is widely considered to be one of the best preparation methods for CeO2 film. In this work, the CeO2 films were prepared by photo-assisted anodic deposition in the bath solutions containing 0.05 mol·L-1 cerium (III) nitrate, 0.1 mol·L-1 ammonia acetate and 70% (V/V) ethanol onto 316L stainless steel (SS) surface. The synergistic effects of …

Handwritten signature identification and verification has become an active area of research in recent years. Handwritten signature identification systems are used for identifying the user among all users enrolled in the system while handwritten signature verification systems are used for authenticating a user by comparing a specific signature with his signature that is stored in the system. This paper presents a review for commonly used methods for preprocessing, feature extraction and classification techniques in signature identification and verification systems, in addition to a comparison between the systems implemented in the literature for identification techniques and verification techniques in online and …

In this article we study the Schrödinger-Poisson system−∆ u+ V (| x|) u+ λφu= f (u), x∈ R3,−∆ φ= u2, x∈ R3, where V is a singular potential with the parameter α and the nonlinearity f satisfies critical growth. By applying a generalized version of Lions-type theorem and the Nehari manifold theory, we establish the existence of the nonnegative ground state solution when λ= 0. By the perturbation method, we obtain a nontrivial solution to above system when λ= 0.

Numerical Simulation Of Nonlinear Vibrations Of Discrete Mass With Harmonic Force Perturbation, M. Yusupov, B. A. Akhmedov, Olga Karpova
Acta of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent
The problem of vibration of a single-mass system under the force excitation of vibration associated with a fixed base by a weightless nonlinear viscoelastic spring is considered. To take into account the rheological properties of the spring material, the Boltzmann-Volterra principle was used. Mathematical models of the problem under consideration are obtained, which are described by integro-differential equations. A solution method based on the use of quadrature formulas has been developed and a computer program has been compiled on its basis, the results obtained are presented in the form of graphs. The influence of nonlinear and rheological properties of a …

Levee construction aboveground and hydrocarbon removal from belowground in coastal wetlands can create hydrologic changes that increase plant stress through flooding. But the significance of the subsidence they cause individually or in combination is contested. This study untangled them to demonstrate elevational limits of salt marshes by studying dredged and natural waterways in two salt marshes in Louisiana, USA. The areas had a homogenous plant cover before drilling for oil and gas extraction peaked in the 1960s, and now are a mixed network of natural waterways and dredged canals used to drill wells with an average drill date of 1965.8 …

Quantum fluctuations in the effective spin-1/2 layered structure triangular-lattice quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnet Ba3CoSb2O9 lift the classical degeneracy of the antiferromagnetic ground state in magnetic field, producing a series of novel spin structures for magnetic fields applied within the crystallographic ab plane, including a celebrated collinear ‘up-up-down’ spin ordering with magnetization equal to 1/3 of the saturation magnetization over an extended field range. Theoretically unresolved, however, are the effects of interlayer antferromagnetic coupling and transverse magnetic fields on the ground states of this system. Additional magnetic-field-induced phase transitions are theoretically expected and in some cases have …

Artificial freezing is a commonly used method for stopping water and providing temporary support during the excavation of saturated sand. This study on the damage characteristics of frozen soil lays the foundation for the analysis of the mechanical properties of frozen soil and the stability of frozen bodies. In order to study the damage mechanical properties of frozen sand, three-dimensional laboratory tests on frozen sand with different intermediate principal stress coefficients were carried out at -5℃. Based on the Weibull random distribution of micro element failure of frozen soil, the Drucker-Prager strength criterion was invoked as the statistical distribution variable, …

In order to increase the degree of production of CBM development blocks, when the production of a single well enters a decline period, the development plan needs to be adjusted, and the production increase and stability can be achieved through the measures such as layer adjustment or layer compensation. In terms of time, it is believed that the main coal seam should be developed first when it is put into production. After the decline period, the secondary main coal seam should be supplemented and combined; in space, combined with the development dynamics, the analytic hierarchy process is used to determine …
