The fiscal sector in Pakistan has been facing mule-layered challenges over several years. One of the reasons is the stubborn and unproductive nature of its public expenditure, and the other one is the lower tax revenues. This issue of hovering fiscal deficit is mostly dealt with the tools of fiscal contraction/austerity which can have a potential impact on the private sector of the economy. This study is an effort to empirically analyze the household’s demand for energy mix (electricity, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), kerosene, and firewood) in the District Kotli, AJK. The study estimates the demand elasticities (price and expenditure) by employing the Linear Approximate Almost Ideal Demand System (LA-AIDS) to 384 households sampled across District Kotli, AJK in 2017. The empirical estimations are carried out by using the Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SUR), keeping intact the adding-up, homogeneity and symmetry restrictions.

This paper focuses on understanding the significance, linkage, issues and prospects of food, water, and energy nexus in the context of Pakistan. It aims to facilitate in exploring measures and developing policies that can be adopted to ensure these essential resources’ management, usage and availability while meeting the sustainable development goals. The Pakistan’s data used for GLS was from 1991 to 2020. The results showed that the availability of freshwater withdrawals in Pakistan for agriculture irrigation, population, and agricultural land has a positive and significant impact on the Food Production Index.

The overarching goal was to investigate individual perceptions and opinions about different environmental challenges including climate change. The responsibility and trust on key stakeholders, that are responsible to minimize the negative consequences of climate change, was also identified. For this purpose, data were collected by interviewing 605 students from different universities of Lahore, belonging to diverse educational backgrounds and geographic regions in Pakistan.

Non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) are expected to play a pivotal role in the future wireless ecosystem. Due to its high-dynamic characteristics, the accurate estimation and compensation of carrier frequency offset (CFO) are crucial for supporting 5G new radio (NR) enabled satellite direct access. With emphasis on ensuring reliable uplink synchronization, we propose a clustering-neural network based CFO estimation scheme by virtue of NR random access preambles. By leveraging the sparsity and regularity of input samples, the proposed scheme can achieve fast and precise prediction of CFOs, while establishing robustness against time uncertainty and channel variation within a satellite beam. A new dark sector antibaryon, denoted ψD, could be produced in decays of B mesons. This Letter presents a search for B+→ψD+p (and the charge conjugate) decays in e+e− annihilations at 10.58 GeV, using data collected in the BABAR experiment. Data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 398 fb−1 are analyzed. No evidence for a signal is observed. Branching fraction upper limits in the range from 10−7–10−5 are obtained at 90% confidence level for masses of 1.0<mψD< 4.3 GeV/c2. The result is also reinterpreted to provide …

Insights from high pressure and temperature experiments involving in-situ measurements of the electrical resistivity of Fe-5wt%Ni at temperatures of up to 2000 K, under pressures of 2-5 GPa in a 1000-ton cubic-anvil press have been used to reveal Vesta’s core dynamics. The Wiedemann–Franz law was used to calculate the thermal conductivity from the measured electrical resistivity data. Comparing the findings of this study with prior investigations on both pure Fe and Fe-10wt%Ni indicates that an increase in Ni ranging from 0-10wt% has negligible effect on the electrical resistivity of Fe alloys. The purpose of this research was to synthesize bi-functionalized nanoparticles (NPs) based on carbon dots (CDs), that can perform cancer theranostics in hopes to increase efficacy for both the diagnostics and therapeutics for cancer. In this study, CDs were synthesized using a microwave method. Samples were produced using different time and temperature settings to determine the process yielding the best results. After the initial and final screenings, 16 minutes at 180°C and 650 watts produced the highest yield of CDs with the greatest capacity for bonding to the cancer drug and targeting agent. The urgency of antibiotic resistance has been recognized, necessitating prompt, and focused efforts from the scientific community. Innovative alternatives, such as nanoparticles and photocatalytic agents, have been investigated to confront drugresistant microbes. As an antimicrobial and photocatalytic agent, zinc oxide (ZnO) has demonstrated considerable promise. This study utilized a cutting-edge method called laser-assisted chemical bath synthesis (LACBS) to create undoped and Al-doped ZnO nanostructures without a catalyst. Humans can leverage domain context to recognize novel patterns and categories based on limited known examples. In contrast, computational learning methods are not adept at exploiting context and require sufficient labeled examples to achieve similar accuracy. Many temporal data domain, for example, seismic signals and oil mining sensor data, requires domain expert annotation, which is both costly and time-consuming. The dependency on training data limits the applicability of machine learning algorithms for domains with limited labeled data. In renewal theory, the Inspection Paradox refers to the fact that an interarrival period in a renewal process which contains a fixed inspection time tends to be longer than one for the corresponding uninspected process. We focus on the paradox for Bernoulli trials. Probability distributions and moments for the lengths of the interarrival periods are derived for the inspected process, and we compare them to those for the uninspected case.

The Hubble tension can be addressed by modifying the sound horizon (rs) before recombination, triggering interest in early universe estimates of the Hubble constant, H0, independent of rs. Constraints on H0 from an rs-free analysis of the full shape BOSS galaxy power spectra within Λ CDM were recently reported and used to comment on the viability of physics beyond Λ CDM. We present detailed characterization of laser driven fusion and neutron production (∼105/second) employing 8 mJ, 40fs laser pulses on a thin (< 1 µm) D2O liquid sheet employing a measurement suite. At relativistic intensity (∼5×1018W/cm2) and high repetition-rate (1 kHz), the system produces consistent D-D fusion, allowing for consistent neutron generation. Evidence of D-D fusion neutron production is verified b y a measurement suite with three independent detection systems: an EJ-309 organic scintillator with pulse-shape discrimination, a 3He proportional counter, and a set of 36 bubble detectors. Forming judgments and making decisions based on those judgments is an important and inescapable part of life. Moral decision-making often affects oneself and the people surrounding them. Convection-permitting regional climate models (RCMs) have recently become tractable for applications at multi-decadal timescales. These types of models have tremendous utility for water resource studies, but better characterization of precipitation biases is needed, particularly for water-resource-critical mountain regions, where precipitation is highly variable in space, observations are sparse, and the societal water need is great. The breakdown of metabolisms' regulation within the brain can lead to neurological disease like Alzheimer's Disease (AD). For the first time, the novel application of Schiff-base copper complexes in all-inorganic perovskite CsBrBr3 solar cells has been explored and turns out they could be utilized as effective hole-transporting materials. Schiff-base copper complexes with halogen ligands (R=Cl and Br) are synthesized with an ease approach at a low cost, both of which exhibit decent power conversion efficiency of 4.55% and 5.71%, respectively, when being constructed into solar devices as hole transport layers. Thanks to high thermal/chemical stability of those Schiff-base metal complexes, the strengthened stability was achieved which is comparable to that of carbon-based CsBrBr3 solar cells. …

This research focuses on the field of surface nanobioscience, wherein different nanosurfaces that will be used as working electrodes in the electrochemical cell are manufactured and surface modified to understand the critical binding interactions between biologically significant molecules like proteins, carbohydrates, small drug molecules, and glycoproteins. This research is essential if we are to determine whether a synthetic molecule can serve as a therapeutic candidate or diagnose a disease in its early stages.
