Neutrino’S Non-Zero Electric Potential As An Origin Of Gravitation, Domain Structure And Expansion Of The Universe., Polievkt Perov
College of Arts & Sciences Faculty Works
The axial electric potentials of neutrinos as neutral composite structures, while being very small at large distances, do not vanish, and the same can be said about the neutrino “asymmetric dipoles” (paired neutrinos of not the same kind). Depending on the orientation of the “asymmetric dipole”, its far-field electric potential in some direction can be positive or negative, interacting with other “dipoles” at that large distance attractively or repulsively depending on their mutual orientation. The mutual orientation of the dipoles locally (inside a galaxy) might be such that they are aligned and experience the attractive force toward the local center …

The mechanism of action (MoA) of a clickable fatty acid analogue 8-(2-Cyclobuten-1-yl)octanoic acid (DA-CB) has been investigated for the first time. Proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics were combined with a network analysis to investigate the MoA of DA-CB against Mycobacterium smegmatis (Msm). The metabolomics results showed that DA-CB has a general MoA related to that of ethionamide, a mycolic acid inhibitor that targets enoyl-ACP reductase (InhA), but DA-CB likely inhibits a step downstream from InhA. Our combined multi-omics approach showed that DA-CB appears to disrupt the pathway leading to the biosynthesis of mycolic acids, an essential mycobacterial fatty acid …

The accuracy and ease of metabolite assignments from a complex mixture are expected to be facilitated by employing a multi-spectral approach. The 2D 1H-13C HSQC and 2D 1H-1H-TOCSY are the experiments commonly used for metabolite assignments. The 2D 1H-13C HSQC-TOCSY and 2D 1H-13C HMBC are routinely used by natural products chemists but have seen minimal usage in metabolomics despite the unique information, the nearly complete 1H-1H and 1H-13C and spin systems provided by these experiments that may improve the accuracy and reliability …

Beyond Standard Model: Neutrino-Antineutrino Pairs In Nuclear Reactions Of Beta-Decay And Proton-Neutron Transmutation., Polievkt Perov
College of Arts & Sciences Faculty Works
On examples of different beta-decay reactions, we show that the neutrino-antineutrino pairs should be added as necessary reagents to the equations of the decay reactions where a neutrino or an antineutrino is among the products of the reaction. In our models, quarks and leptons are all made of basic fractional +-e/3 charges. Transfer of basic charges between reagents forms the products of the reaction. We suggest that there is no direct conversion of u-quark to d-quark and visa versa. Each transmutation involves a transfer of basic charges from a neutrino to a quark so the structure of remaining charges in …

Dissolved Nitrogen Removal In Biochar Amended, High Permeability Media For Urban Stormwater Treatment, Mark Vicciardo
Dissolved Nitrogen Removal In Biochar Amended, High Permeability Media For Urban Stormwater Treatment, Mark Vicciardo
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Nutrient pollution in stormwater drives the eutrophication of inland and costal waterbodies which leads to sea grass retreat and the proliferation of harmful algal blooms (HAB). These anthropogenic effects destabilize ecosystems, and some HABs can pose direct human health risk. Bioretention, or the storage and controlled discharge of stormwater run-off in an ecologically engineered setting, is a potential solution to this problem. However, it relies heavily on the settling of particles as a nutrient removal mechanism, and thus struggles with pollutants, such as dissolved nitrogen, which is a particular problem in Florida where the geological prominence of phosphorus leaves nitrogen …
Understanding Waveguides In Resonance, Pieter Johannes Daniel Vandenberge
Understanding Waveguides In Resonance, Pieter Johannes Daniel Vandenberge
Dissertations and Theses
Several important classes of modern optical waveguides, including anti-resonant reflecting and photonic bandgap fibers, make use of geometries that guide energy in low refractive index material, a property that makes them of significant interest in numerous applications, notably including high-power delivery and guidance. These waveguides frequently exhibit resonance phenomena, in which their ability to propagate an input signal is sharply curtailed at particular operating frequencies. In this work we detail new advances in understanding these resonance effects and their implications for numerical modeling of these structures.
Part 1 focuses on the fields of slab waveguides, relatively simple structures for which …

Challenges To Reindeer, Reciprocity, And Indigenous Sami Sovereignty Amidst The Impact Of Green Energy Developments, Lisa Heikka-Huber
IdeaFest: Interdisciplinary Journal of Creative Works and Research from Cal Poly Humboldt
The Indigenous people of Europe known as the Sami, (also spelled Saami) many of whom live throughout the world, have continued to maintain active nomadic communities today as their ancestors did. A wide spanning region of Northern Europe’s Arctic Zone or Sampi often referred to as Fennoscandia, encompasses four countries, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia’s Kola Peninsula (Roland & Löffler, 2012). The nomadic Sami people follow the migration pathways of their reindeer herds through the wilderness bi-annually. This paper will discuss many perspectives, including the battle Sami people and other Indigenous communities have endured while combating green energy development from …

Journal of Food and Drug Analysis
In Taiwan, the number of applications for inspecting imported food has grown annually and noncompliant products must be accurately detected in these border sampling inspections. Previously, border management has used an automated border inspection system (import food inspection (IFI) system) to select batches via a random sampling method to manage the risk levels of various food products complying with regulatory inspection procedures. Several countries have implemented artificial intelligence (AI) technology to improve domestic governmental processes, social service, and public feedback. AI technologies are applied in border inspection by the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA). Risk management of border inspections …

Environmentally persistent free radicals (EPFRs), a group of emerging pollutants, have significantly longer lifetimes than typical free radicals. EPFRs form by the adsorption of organic precursors on a transition metal oxide (TMO) surface involving electron charge transfer between the organic and TMO. In this paper, dihalogenated benzenes were incorporated to study the role of electronegativity in the electron transfer process to obtain a fundamental knowledge of EPFR formation mechanism on ZnO. Upon chemisorption on ZnO nanoparticles at 250 °C, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) confirms the formation of oxygen adjacent carbon-centered organic free radicals with concentrations between 1016 and 1017 spins/g. …

Human Action Recognition Based On Skeleton Edge Information Under Projection Subspace, Benyue Su, Peng Zhang, Bangguo Zhu, Mengjuan Guo, Min Sheng
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In recent years, human action recognition based on skeleton data has received a lot of attention in the fields of computer vision and human-computer interaction. Most of the existing methods focus on modeling the skeleton points in the original 3D coordinate space. However, skeleton points ignore the physical chain structure of the human body itself, which makes it difficult to portray the local correlation of human motion. In addition, due to the diversity of camera views, it is difficult to explore the comprehensive representation of actions in different views under the original point-based 3D space. In view of this, …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: For an automatic vehicle sorting problem involving mixed sorting of two types of orders, an order splitting strategy and a method for batch adjustment of sub-orders after splitting are proposed by considering the phenomena of blockage of automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) and idleness of manual collection stations in the order sorting process. In addition, with the optimization objective of minimizing the total order completion time, an order sorting integer planning model with order splitting is established. An improved discrete grey wolf optimization algorithm is proposed to jointly optimize the three sub-problems of order batching, batch sorting, and product unloading …

A 3D streamline visualization method based on clustering fusion is proposed. It consists of a distance measurement method between features and a clustering fusion method, which takes the inter-feature distance and spatial distance as the similarity between streamlines for clustering and then performs weighted merging and subdivision of the obtained clustering result. The method has been tested on data sets …

Gesture Recognition For Dynamic Vision Sensor Based On Multi-Dimensional Projection Spatiotemporal Event Frame, Lai Kang, Yakun Zhang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Vision-based gesture recognition is a commonly used means of human-computer interaction in the fields of virtual reality and game simulation. In practical applications, rapid changes in gesture movements will lead to blurred imaging with traditional RGB cameras or depth cameras, which brings great challenges to gesture recognition. To solve the above problems, a dynamic visual data gesture recognition method based on a multi-dimensional projection spatiotemporal event frame (STEF) is proposed by a using dynamic vision sensor to capture high-speed gesture movement information. The spatiotemporal information is embedded in the data projection surface and fused to form a multidimensional projection …

Multi-Agent Path Planning With Obstacle Penalty Factor, Xingyu Yan, Dayan Li, Niya Wang, Kaixiang Zhang, Jianlin Mao
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: In light load environments, complex obstacle areas will exacerbate local conflicts between agents, leading to a decrease in path solving efficiency. This paper proposes a multi-agent path planning (MAPF) method with obstacle penalty factors in light load environments. First, in the low-level single machine planning process based on the conflict-based search (CBS) algorithm framework, by judging the distribution type of surrounding obstacles that are about to expand the agent's position, corresponding obstacle penalty factors are assigned to them; then, the penalty factors in the path planning process are accumulated and used as the heuristic value of single machine planning …

Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The finite element model (FEM) of permanent magnet linear synchronous machines (PMLSMs) takes a long computing time and cannot directly display the relationship between structural parameters and output thrust, thus failing to guide the structural parameter optimization of the machine. An improved simulation model of PMLSMs based on the subdomain analytical method and deep neural network (DNN) algorithm is proposed. The magnetic flux density, no-load counter electromotive force (EMF), and other data are obtained according to Maxwell's equations. The nonlinear relationship between the structural parameters of the machine and output thrust is fitted by the DNN algorithm. Based on …
