Five weeks into the current academic year, Cedarville University industrial and innovative design seniors have already wrapped up a transportation design project that could save lives.
For their most recent project in transportation design, the students examined a real-life problem seen by first responders across the nation--how can their response time be shortened so that more lives are saved? This project began with a concept developed by Tom Balliett, CFO, Co-founder and Instructor at the International Center for Creativity (ICC) in Columbus, Ohio. As a paramedic, Balliett was intrigued by a new project that the lieutenant governor of Iowa, Adam …

This study aimed to find out how the spokespersons for the Israeli occupation army, specifically the "coordinator and Avichay Adraee" pages on Facebook, covered the issue of the six self-liberated Palestinian prisoners from the highly secure walls of Gilboa prison through a tunnel they dug under their cell's bathroom. The study used the total population sample to analyze the two pages' content from September 6, 2021, to November 30, 2021. The study found that these pages used media frames to distort the image of the Palestinian prisoners. The most dominant frame was the strategic frame by 40% to show the …

The Kelce/Swift Phenomena: Real-Time Analysis Of Social Media Activity During The October 1st Chiefs/Jets Game, Yi Luo Montclair State University, Jin-A Choi, Bond Benton
School of Communication and Media Scholarship and Creative Works
When the Kansas City Chiefs played the New York Jets in one of the world's major media centers, it presented a unique opportunity to study the phenomena of public interest in the Travis Kelce/Taylor Swift “romance.” A nationally televised game provides a specific timeframe and a moment of public visibility that invites dialogue and interaction. The space specifically built for such real time dialogue and interaction about a topic is social media. With that in mind, an investigation into the social media activity occurring in-game related to Kelce/Swift is merited

From Patriarchal Stereotypes To Matriarchal Pleasures Of Hybridity: Representation Of A Muslim Family In Berlin, Rahime Özgün Kehya Dr
Journal of Religion & Film
Sinan Çetin’s blockbuster Berlin in Berlin (1993) is a Turkish-German co-production. In contrast to certain representational tendencies with German orientalism or Turkish occidentalism, it deconstructs the intersectional structures of migration, religion, and gender. The portrayal of religion in films about Turkish-German labour migration is a kind of cultural narcissism often projected into national cinema by denigrating the faith of the other and glorifying one’s own religion. However, perspectives at such intersections are critical and require sensitivity in filmmaking, as films can create prejudice or help build peaceful relationships around these sensitive issues. The paper employs discourse analysis in linking Derrida’s …

Review: European Sources Of Human Dignity: A Commented Anthology Mette Lebech. Oxford: Peter Lang, 2019. Pp. 345. On The Problem Of Human Dignity: A Hermeneutical And Phenomenological Investigation Mette Lebech., Robert Mcnamara
International Dialogue
A coordinating feature of much contemporary discourse—philosophical and theological, social and cultural, political and legal—is the idea of human dignity. The sense of its necessity as an idea grounding and organizing thought, feeling, and action about the human being is shared across different and often otherwise contrary worldviews. But to what does the expression “human dignity” refer? What is human dignity? And why is it important? Anyone who has looked at the problem with anything more than a cursory glance knows that these are not easy questions, and Mette Lebech sets herself the task of attaining an answer in two …
