Production, Price, And Inventory Theory, George A. Hay
Production, Price, And Inventory Theory, George A. Hay
Cornell Law Faculty Publications
This paper is an attempt to derive empirically testable hypotheses regarding the principal determinants of firms' decisions on production, price, and finished goods inventory. The general approach to the problem is that many of the same factors which affect the optimal value for one variable will also influence decisions on the other two, and that a "proper" model must take into account the interdependence of these variables and the simultaneous nature of the decisions involving them. This is in contrast to literature on the theory of inventories (see Paul Darling and Michael Lovell) in which the firm is assumed to …

Special Drawing Rights And Their Implications For Domestic And External Finance, Central Bank Of Nigeria Cbn
Economic and Financial Review
The need to create the new international monetary asset called Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) arose largely from the widening gap between the volume of world trade and the means of financing it (that is, international monetary reserves). Special Drawing Rights are 'paper gold', transferable among the participating countries who are committed to accept them in exchange for convertible currencies.

The Neo-Classical Contributions To The Theory Of International Trade, Mohammed Arifeen
The Neo-Classical Contributions To The Theory Of International Trade, Mohammed Arifeen
Economics Theses & Dissertations
In a dynamic economy some of the most challenging policy problems tend to originate in the realm of international economic relations. In the post World War II period, these problems have been intensified and become more complex. Students of international economics often feel perplexed by numerous divergent and diametric views that well-trained and prudent men frequently offer for the solutions of what appear to be rather simple problems. Lack of understanding of the theoretical framework of international trade is largely responsible for students' puzzlement.
It is the purpose of this thesis to assemble a minimum framework of the theoretical issues …
Consumption Planning With Special Reference To U.A.R., Ahmed Nabil Kamel
Consumption Planning With Special Reference To U.A.R., Ahmed Nabil Kamel
Archived Theses and Dissertations
Consumption may be defined as any activity consisting of the using up of goods and services resulting in the direct satisfaction of human desires. Therefore we may be described as consumers when we are eating food, sleeping on a bed, visiting the doctor or going to school. It is undoubtedly true that consumption is the ultimate aim of all economic activities. In a sense it is therefore true to say that to plan consumption is to plan the whole economy. Any decision taken by the planners with regard to investment, saving, income or foreign trade is bound to have important …
The Teaching Of Economics - A Radical Approach To Economics: Basis For A New Curriculum, Richard C. Edwards, Arthur Macewan
The Teaching Of Economics - A Radical Approach To Economics: Basis For A New Curriculum, Richard C. Edwards, Arthur Macewan
Department of Economics: Faculty Publications
The purpose of this paper is to outline a radical approach to economics and to suggest how several important social problems might be dealt with in that framework. Our effort to develop a new curriculum is motivated by the conviction that the orthodox approach to economics cannot deal with the important problems of modern society.
Orthodox economic analysis as presented from the elementary course through the graduate seminar is based upon an acceptance of the status quo in social relations. Microanalysis presupposes the individualistic ownership and decision-making systems typical of capitalist societies, and in this narrow context the pecuniary behavior …

A Forecast Of Iranian Demand For Agricultural Food Products, Ivan F. Beutler
A Forecast Of Iranian Demand For Agricultural Food Products, Ivan F. Beutler
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Domestic demand for Iranian agricultural food commodities was projected for 1970, 1975 and 1980. Demand for particular commodities was projected separately for Tehran (the capital city), urban Iran and rural Iran.
Income and population growth were the most significant explanatory variables in this long term projection.
Two cross-sectional family budget surveys, taken six years apart, provided consumption data for Tehran and urban Iran. A series of family budget studies provided Engel curve data for rural Iran.
The income effect was estimated for each food item by least squares regression analysis. The resulting income elasticities were found to be significantly different …

Attitudes Of Selected College Professors And College Students In Utah Toward Labor Unions, Dwain Dee Stephenson
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The attitudes of selected university professors and students in Utah toward labor unions were obtained through the medium of a questionnaire.
Most students and professors favored anti-trust laws for unions, were against the abolishment of the right-to-work law, and were evenly divided in their feelings concerning the settlement of strikes by compulsory arbitration.
A majority of students and professors were against an increase in overtime pay and a shorter work week. Students favored and professors opposed a raise in the minimum wage.
Professors and students anticipated growth in union membership as a percentage of the labor force.
Except for professors …

A Comparison Of The Utah Cattle Slaughter Market With The California Cattle Carcass Market, M. Lloyd Davies
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Reliable price data for fat cattle in Utah are becoming difficult to obtain because fewer and fewer slaughter cattle go through market channels where live cattle prices are reported.
The objectives of this study were to determine how correlated Utah fat cattle prices are with the California dressed meat market for cattle and formulate an equation or equations enabling reliable price predictions to be made for the Utah slaughter cattle market.
Utah choice and good steer prices (both direct and auction) were compared to the San Francisco wholesale meat market prices. Utah choice steer, good steer and choice heifer prices …
