This study aims to identify the impact of the development of tourist areas on culinary businesses by taking the case of the program for the construction of facilities and infrastructure supporting tourism villages which was implemented starting in 2017 and looking at the influence of regional disparities on the effectiveness of assistance which is then compared between the regions of Java-Bali and outside Java-Bali. Using the Difference-In-Differences (DID), the study analyzed the impact of the support program on 115 tourism villages, comparing them to other tourism villages in the same sub-district that did not receive support. In 2022, based on Google Trends tools, Indonesia is ranked third as the country with the most searches related to Japanese anime. Wibu is a term that refers to someone who is outside Japan but likes and even tends to be obsessed with the culture of that country. This research aims explore how stereotypes of Wibu in Indonesia are constructed by digital media, specifically YouTube. Research findings show that Wibu in Indonesia is stereotyped as "smelling of onions", "Wibu Nolep", "perverted Wibu" and “pshycopath Wibu.” By conducting textual analysis on YouTube videos that are related to Wibu content, we argue …

Indonesia has been chosen to host the G20 summit in Bali in November 2022. Indonesia has prepared many agendas ahead of the execution of this summit. This preparation concerns the technical implementation of multilateral relations, which have undergone significant changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, Indonesia needs help hosting the G20 due to the fractured multilateral relations of several G20 member countries caused by the Russia-Ukraine conflict in early 2022. Absent But Present: Propaganda Strategies Of The Japanese Occupation In Indonesia As Narrated In Kamishibai In Djawa Baroe Magazine, Rouli Esther Pasaribu
International Review of Humanities Studies
This paper investigated the propaganda strategies in kamishibai (a paper play) story telling in Djawa Baroe Magazine. This study employed text analysis methods and propaganda theories from Jowett and Donnell on the seven kamishibai and found the following propaganda strategies. First, Western powers were portrayed negatively. Second, Japan was not explicitly featured in kamishibai stories. Third, local cultural elements in Javanese culture were used to convey propaganda messages. These findings indicate that entertainment media, such as kamishibai, can be used as propaganda media and subtly inserted using specific trivial strategies.

A descriptive survey research approach was chosen for the investigation. The method of inquiry was chosen since the researcher employed a questionnaire to collect information from respondents. The population includes 41 undergraduates with hearing impairment at Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, Imo State and 7 lecturers. The study sample consists of thirty-four (34) out of 41 students with hearing impairment who were registered for regular /evening programmes and, seven (7) lecturers who taught them remotely. This research paper examines the role of “fat talk” in relationships in Bruneian Chinese society. “Fat talk” refers to negative comments about one's weight or body shape towards oneself or others. Using qualitative research methods, the study explores the perceptions and experiences of Bruneian Chinese individuals regarding “fat talk”, factors leading to the discussion of the topic, and its impact on their relationships with their peers. The study aims to explore how the author conveys the ideology of handling trauma in children after earthquake disasters. The objects of the study are two picture storybooks titled "Yuzuchan" and "Yappari Ouchi Ga Ii Na." The research was conducted qualitatively using the documentary data search method. Specifically, I pay closer attention to how women's roles and experiences in stunting prevention campaigns are portrayed and enacted online in the context of the digital socialization of these programs. This article attempts to describe Simmel’s intellectual thoughts, particularly those related to the mode of human relationship. By applying a systematic literature review, this article demonstrates the uniqueness of Simmelian thought in comparison to other major classical sociological thinkers, like Emile Durkheim, Karl Marx, and Max Weber. For Simmel, a macro-level analysis on societal culture can be carried out by focusing on the micro dimension of the everyday life. This paper examines the national narrative presented in the biographical film Soekarno: Indonesia Merdeka (2014). The analysis employs a film studies approach to explore the interplay between visual and narrative strategies within the framework of Eisenstein's theoretical perspectives. Christian Metz's semiotic theory is utilized to decode the signs embedded throughout the film. Nonetheless, only the Western scientific perspective is typically considered, excluding other voices and leading to a very narrow vision of “sustainability”. The following article investigates the benefits to including indigenous knowledge and principles, considering their values rather than limitations and presents two specific case studies using the Mauri Model Decision Making Framework, a tool applied for environmental assessment, seen as a more cultural-friendly sustainable approach.

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is abuse by a partner or spouse. This study focused on IPV among Kenyan immigrants to the United States. Several studies reported connections between IPV and cultural tensions experienced during the acculturation process. Scholars disagree whether acculturation buffers against IPV by exposing immigrants to adaptive social norms or heightens risk factors among those facing challenges acclimating to new settings. This thesis examines how Netflix as a transnational Internet TV disrupted the media flow in Southeast Asia. As subscription to streaming platforms grew exponentially, the limited linear flow of contents in traditional TV was transformed into a more personalized viewing experience. Consumers binge-watching on a subscription video on demand service were given the agency to view diverse contents at a time and on a gadget they prefer while also being offered recommendations from the platform’s curated list.
