This study examines Black Minority Ethnic social care students’ experiences in Ireland and is located within the parameters of a number of key global events that occurred in the last decade. It provides critical insights into the students lived experiences of migration, resettlement, employment, higher education and social care scholarship.

Theoretically the thesis is grounded in Critical Race Theory (CRT) drawing on the key tenets of race as a social construction, interest convergence, White privilege, storytelling and intersectionality. Many initiatives use recruitment or retention numbers as their most obvious evidence of impact. In the public discourse around American slavery, there is an apologist evasion that can be summarized as such: that slavery was “just the way it was back then.” The word “just” in that phrase connotes a rather casual finality - that slavery in the American colonies, and then in the United States, could not have been avoided. This article considers the changes that have taken place in the Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) from the time of the USSR to today, when believers and their communities are having to fit into new historical circumstances. In peacetime JW occupied a relatively insignificant niche in the structure of religious life of Ukraine, overcoming the wary and sometimes openly negative attitude of the state, society, and other religious communities, formed by the Soviet regime. Conspicuous Wellness: How Acquired Identities Affect Conspicuous Consumption, Katherine S. Eu

This research provides evidence that individuals will conspicuously consume based on their acquired identities, which parallels similar conclusions drawn for conspicuous consumption based on ascribed identities. Using data from 653 respondents, I found positive marginal effects of the “that girl” wellness identity on product choices, accounting for an individual’s potential higher willingness-to-pay, demographics, and speed of making product choices. I conclude that the more an individual associates themselves with an identity, the higher the likelihood of choosing products which align and signal membership in an identity subculture.

Because science as it exists today is a cultural construction of the West, studies of neuroscience have often been limited by Western perspectives. In particular, the Western proclivity towards individualism has led to a field of neuroscience which has historically focused on studying single individuals, as opposed to social or collective neuroscience. For the most part, it has just been assumed that collective phenomena such as interpersonal emotions must be able to be reduced in terms of individual phenomena such as individual emotions. This paper conducted semi-structured in-depth interviews with seven influencers to examine the techniques they use to promote authenticity in content creation. The analysis identified two main techniques: (1) creating content in batches during designated “content days” and (2) incorporating mental health into their online persona. It is important to note that because sharing vulnerable information is a deliberate part of an influencer's strategy, personal mental health content should not be regarded as more authentic than other content. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is an insidious societal problem with potentially lethal ramifications. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, widespread conditions and virus risk mitigation procedures like social distancing and stay-at-home orders exacerbated factors that contribute to IPV such as poverty and substance use. In June 2022 the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, abandoning nearly 50 years of precedent, and removing federal protections for abortion access. In doing so, the Court drew on a lineage of explicit and implicit discourses that have constructed abortions, abortion providers, and pregnant and fetal bodies in ways that make overturning Roe seem inevitable. This thesis takes a reproductive justice perspective while conducting a feminist critical discourse analysis of the majority and concurring opinions in Dobbs. Two main findings stand out. Members of the Arab American community experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV) face unique barriers to help-seeking and have different comfort levels with using formal and informal resources. This thesis surveyed Arab-Americans to identify perceived barriers and comfort levels with IPV help-seeking. A culturally informed and centered approach was taken to examine connections between individual level factors, perceived barriers and comfort levels in using resources. To do so, I gathered data via an online survey with 82 Arab American participants. Structural and systemic mechanisms reinforce institutionalized racism, whiteness, and white supremacy in the United States. These mechanisms prove adaptable and resilient, shifting and changing to continuously restructure and reinforce the material reality that people experience within a racialized social order. White people's incomprehension of complicity in racism and privilege, along with color-blind ideologies, perpetuate racialized disparities resulting from this social order and render white superiority as "normal" and "universal." To date, research at the intersections of parenting, stress, gender, and mental health has yielded complicated and inconsistent results. The objective of this dissertation was to deepen our understanding of how parenting stress contributes to the mental health of both parents and their children, especially within the context of balancing work and family responsibilities. A three-study approach was used to assess differences by sex, gender role ideology, and household composition. Additionally, it explored the impact of parents’ characteristics on their children’s well-being in adulthood.

Despite the beneficial impacts of drug court participation, access to these programs may not be equitable across racial groups. The reasons behind racial disparities in access to these programs are not well-documented in the current literature. This study investigates disparities in access to drug court and the possible reasons they occur. Chi-square tests are used to assess for disparities in admissions between Black and White individuals referred to drug court. การศึกษาครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาสภาพปัญหา รูปแบบ ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการเกิดปรากฏการณ์ล้มทั้งยืน (Rug Pull) ซึ่งเป็นอาชญากรรมบนเทคโนโลยีการเงินแบบกระจายศูนย์ (DeFi) เพื่อสร้างความเข้าใจให้แก่สังคมและนำไปสู่การแสวงหาแนวทางป้องกันที่เหมาะสม ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ด้วยการบูรณาการการวิจัยเชิงเอกสาร การสังเกตแบบชาติพันธุ์วรรณาดิจิทัลและการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกจากผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญของหน่วยงานรัฐ หน่วยธุรกิจและตัวแทนนักลงทุนสินทรัพย์ดิจิทัล จำนวน 16 ราย ผลการศึกษา พบว่า ปรากฎการณ์ล้มทั้งยืน (Rug Pull) เป็นอาชญากรรมไซเบอร์ที่อาศัยความน่าเชื่อถือและความปลอดภัยของ DeFi เจตนาหลอกลวงให้นักลงทุนนำสินทรัพย์ดิจิทัลมาฝากในแพลตฟอร์ม จากนั้นเกิดสถานการณ์ทำให้นักลงทุนสูญเสียเงินลงทุนบางส่วน หรือทั้งหมด หรืออาจจะไม่ได้รับผลตอบแทนตามที่กล่าวอ้าง ด้วยสภาพปัญหา 4 ด้าน คือ 1) ด้านโลกาภิวัตน์ ผู้ใช้งานสามารถทำธุรกรรมโดยไม่ระบุตัวตนของคู่สัญญาด้วยความรวดเร็วผ่านระบบนิเวศ DeFi การระบุพื้นที่ หรือเขตอำนาจศาลในการลงโทษผู้กระทำผิดจึงเป็นไปด้วยความยากลำบาก 2) ด้านสังคมความเสี่ยง เกิดขึ้นการจากนำเทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่ที่มีความซับซ้อน โดยมีสัญญาอัจฉริยะเป็นกลไกหลักในการควบคุมเงื่อนไขต่าง ๆ 3) ด้านกฎหมายและหลักเกณฑ์ที่เกี่ยวข้อง ไม่มีตัวกลางในการกำกับดูแล ทำให้ขาดการตรวจสอบและประเมินความเสี่ยงจากภาครัฐ เมื่อมีความเสียหายเกิดขึ้นจากการฉ้อโกง หรือให้บริการที่ไม่เป็นธรรม จึงไม่ได้รับการคุ้มครอง และ 4) ด้านความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศ ซึ่งขาดกระบวนการส่งต่อ หรือรับข้อมูลสำคัญที่จะนำมาใช้ในการติดตามตรวจสอบ สืบหาตัวผู้กระทำผิด ทั้งนี้ ปรากฏการณ์ล้มทั้งยืนสามารถเกิดขึ้นได้ 3 รูปแบบ คือ 1) การขโมยสภาพคล่อง 2) การจำกัดการซื้อขาย และ การลากและทุบ โดยมีปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการเกิดปรากฎการณ์ล้มทั้งยืน 3 ปัจจัยหลัก คือ 1) เกิดจากผู้ที่มีความสามารถในการก่ออาชญากรรม 2) เกิดจากนักลงทุนสินทรัพย์ดิจิทัล และ 3) เกิดจากขาดผู้พิทักษ์ที่มีความสามารถ ทั้งนี้ แนวทางการป้องกัน ได้แก่ การพัฒนาการกำกับดูแลและการบังคับใช้กฎหมายที่เกี่ยวกับสินทรัพย์ดิจิทัลบน DeFi ที่เป็นสากลและชัดเจน การสร้างเครือข่ายเพื่อเผยแพร่องค์ความรู้และสร้างความตระหนักเกี่ยวกับความเสี่ยงในการลงทุนสินทรัพย์ดิจิทัลบน DeFi การส่งเสริมให้มีการศึกษาวิจัยและพัฒนาเครื่องมือ หรือกลไกการป้องกันฯ ให้มีประสิทธิภาพ การออกมาตรการกำกับดูแลผู้ให้บริการตรวจสอบสัญญาอัจฉริยะ (Smart Contract Security Audit) สำหรับแพลตฟอร์ม DeFi และการสร้างกรอบความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศกับหน่วยงานบังคับใช้กฎหมายและผู้ให้บริการสินทรัพย์เสมือน (VASP) เพื่อป้องกันไม่ให้ประชาชนตกเป็นเหยื่ออาชญากรรมไซเบอร์รูปแบบใหม่ ซึ่งจะสามารถลดช่องโอกาสของการเกิดปรากฎการณ์ล้มทั้งยืน (Rug …

การศึกษาปัญหา อุปสรรค และแนวทางการพัฒนาประสิทธิภาพการปฏิบัติงานในการคัดกรองและตรวจสอบผู้โดยสารของตำรวจคนเข้าเมืองท่าอากาศยานดอนเมืองนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา 1) เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาและอุปสรรคของตำรวจตรวจคนเข้าเมืองในการป้องกันอาชญากรรมในการคัดกรอง และตรวจสอบผู้โดยสารที่เดินทางเข้าประเทศไทยผ่านท่าอากาศยานดอนเมือง 2)เพื่อเสนอแนะแนวทางการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการคัดกรอง และตรวจสอบผู้โดยสารที่เดินทางเข้าประเทศไทยผ่านท่าอากาศยานดอนเมืองใช้วิธีการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-depth interview) โดยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบกึ่งโครงสร้าง (semi-structured selection interview) สัมภาษณ์ผู้ปฏิบัติงานระดับผู้บริหาร ผู้ควบคุมการปฏิบัติ และผู้ปฏิบัติงานในการคัดกรองและตรวจสอบผู้โดยสาร ณ ท่าอากาศยานดอนเมืองที่เป็นผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ จำนวน 12 คน ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ปริมาณผู้โดยสารที่เดินทางเข้ามาในช่วงเวลาชั่วโมงหนาแน่น ทำให้ระบายผู้โดยสารได้ช้า หรือบุคลากรที่มีในหน่วยงานไม่เพียงพอ ระบบเทคโนโลยีไม่เสถียร ทำให้ไม่สามารถเก็บข้อมูลได้ครบถ้วน เป็นต้น แนวทางพัฒนาประสิทธิภาพการปฏิบัติงานควรมีการเชื่อมโยงฐานข้อมูลของหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องไว้ด้วยกัน เช่น ข้อมูลหมายจับ ข้อมูลประวัติบุคคลพ้นโทษ และมีการอัพเดทข้อมูลต่าง ๆ อย่างสม่ำเสมอเพื่อให้การตรวจสอบของเจ้าหน้าที่ตรวจคนเข้าเมืองเป็นไปได้อย่างถูกต้องและรวดเร็ว เนื่องจากเจ้าหน้าที่ตรวจคนเข้าเมือง ที่ปฏิบัติหน้าที่ในสนามบินและในหลายพื้นที่ต้องปฏิบัติ หน้าที่ตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง ซึ่งมีความจำเป็นต้องประสานตรวจสอบข้อมูลกับหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องอยู่เสมอ จึงควรมีช่องทางกลางในการประสานงานร่วมระหว่างหน่วยงานที่มีความเกี่ยวข้องใกล้ชิด และสามารถติดต่อสอบถามได้ตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง

Under this notion, these online communities generate an echo-chamber of information, to which certain individuals only surround themselves with people sharing similar values and opinions.
