From April to June 2014, personnel from Prewitt and Associates, Inc., conducted an archeological and historical resources survey for Camino Real Fuels, L.L.C., of the North American Coal Corporation and the Dos Republicas Coal Partnership (DRCP) within 1,460 acres of land at the Eagle Pass Mine in Maverick County, Texas. The archeological survey resulted in the discovery and documentation of 16 previously unrecorded sites. Of the 16 sites, 15 are prehistoric Native American sites, and 1 is an artifact scatter associated with a complex of ruinous buildings. Three of the Native American sites are within floodplain settings and contain subsurface …

This report documents the substantive findings and management recommendations of a cultural resource inventory conducted by Integrated Environmental Solutions, LLC (IES) for the Bear Creek Industrial Phase I project in Euless, Tarrant County, Texas. As the project will occur on the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport property, the DFW International Airport will need approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to modify their Airport Layout Plan (ALP) to reflect the permanent alterations. This is considered a federal action and will subsequently require compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). In …

0n December 2, 2014, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to evaluate potential archeological impacts associated with the proposed construction of a new electrical substation within an approximately 20-acre (8-hectare) parcel in Little Elm, Denton County, Texas. Melissa M. Green (Principal Investigator) of Cox|McLain Environmental Consulting, Inc. (CMEC) carried out the survey for Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. (BEPC) and the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Utilities Service (USDA-RUS) under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), as amended. (TAS) archeologists assessed the cultural resource potential of a 2.1-mile long, 100-foot wide West Texas Gas (WTG) Benedum EP 46-19 ROW and pump station on University Lands (UL) in north central Crockett County. The proposed ROWs consist of an E-W poly line (0.6-miles long) and a N-S steel line (1.5-mile long) starting at an existing station and running south and southeast to an extant gas plant. An archaeological survey of the proposed 209 acre City of Temple Recycling and Disposal Facility Expansion Project in Bell County, Texas was performed by Ed Baxter Consulting in January and February of 2015. Edward P. Baxter was the Principal Investigator and the Project Archaeologist. This study was carried out under Texas Antiquities Committee Permit Number 7143. The project area was investigated using the pedestrian survey method supported by shovel testing. In all, the project area consisted of 209 acres. This report presents the results of an archeological reconnaissance survey for the proposed expansion and realignment of Farm-to-Market road (FM) 2478 (North Custer Road) in northwestern Collin County, Texas (CSJ 2351-01-017). The project involves the expansion of approximately 2.45 miles of FM 2478 from a two-lane undivided roadway to a six-lane divided roadway, the reconstruction of the existing bridge structures that span Wilson Creek and Rutherford Branch, and the realignment of approximately 0.54 mile of roadway from Rhea Mills Circle to FM 1461. This report documents the removal of individuals buried within Campbell’s Bayou Cemetery (41GV171) to avoid potential impact to the remains during implementation of remediation activities at the Malone Service Company Superfund Site (Site) in Texas City, TX. An oil recovery and waste processing facility had operated at the Site for more than 30 years, ending in the mid1990s. The facility had stored, processed, and disposed of industrial solid wastes and hazardous wastes. Coastal Environments Inc. (CEI) conducted a cultural resources remote-sensing survey of two areas adjacent to Shamrock Island, Nueces County, Texas. The northern-most of these covers 56.38 hectares (139.31 acres), while the southern-most survey area encompasses 44.8 hectares (110.69 acres). These are proposed locations of sand borrow areas to be used by the Nature Conservancy, Texas Coast Office for the Shamrock Island Restoration Project. Goshawk Environmental Consulting, Inc. (Goshawk) conducted a cultural resources survey of the proposed ±20,810-foot (6,343-meter [m]) Conan to Conan SWD 10-inch Water Line right-of-way (ROW) in Loving County, Texas at the request of EOG Resources, Inc. The Area of Potential Effect (APE) consisted of a 75-foot (23-m) wide ROW. The ROW consisted of a 50-foot (15-m) wide permanent water line easement and a 25-foot (8-m) wide temporary construction easement. One review area was identified within the proposed ROW located within the due diligence review radius of previously documented archeological site 41LV18. During early May of 2015, TAS Inc. conducted a pedestrian survey and shovel testing of the Comanche Trail Pipeline, LLC (Comanche Trail) San Elizario Crossing in southeast El Paso County, Texas. The project will connect a natural gas pipeline in Texas with a natural gas pipeline in Mexico. Because of the international nature of the project, the survey fell under jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The survey area was located south and west of Chicken Ranch Road, 1.8 miles south of San Elizario and was confined to FERC regulated areas northeast of the Rio Grande. The project …

The City of Seguin (City) is proposing to construct a new, replacement effluent outfall for the Geronimo Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. The City also proposes to abandon the existing outfall structure and existing pipeline in place. The proposed project will involve the extension of an existing 24 inch (in) (61 centimeters [cm]) wastewater treatment plant effluent line for a length of 535 feet (ft.) (163 meters [m]). The Center for Archaeological Studies (CAS) at Texas State University (University) conducted archaeological investigations for eight proposed undertakings on property owned by the University under Texas Antiquities Permit No. 6775 during the year 2014. Investigations were conducted to determine if intact cultural resources were present within the project areas and if they would be adversely affected by construction and development. Under a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Texas Historical Commission (THC) and the University, CAS is authorized to determine whether proposed undertakings have the potential to negatively impact cultural resources, and if so, to recommend to the University courses …

The proposed Loop 20 Project is a new location roadway in southwestern Webb County originating at the intersection of Loop 20 and US 59 and ending at the intersection of Loop 20 and International Blvd. The Area of Potential Effect (APE) has a calculated length of approximately 7.8 miles with a total area of approximately 378.2 acres. The project consists of approximately 7.4 miles of new Right of Way (ROW) immediately adjacent to the existing Loop 20 ROW. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) proposes to widen FM 48 from the town of Mobeetie Texas northward to the Wheeler/Hemphill County line. The Area of Potential Effects (APE) for the proposed FM 48 improvement project has a length of approximately 9.5 miles consists within the existing 100-foot ROW. The total area of APE is approximately 115.2 acres with no proposed new ROW or easements. The maximum vertical depth of impact will be approximately 5 feet for culvert replacements.
