Qualitative Perspectives Toward Relational Connection In Pastoral Ministry, Jon Young, Michael W. Firmin Jan 2014

Qualitative Perspectives Toward Relational Connection In Pastoral Ministry, Jon Young, Michael W. Firmin

Psychology Faculty Publications

We present the results of a phenomenological, qualitative research study in which 13 Southern Baptist (SB) pastors were administered in-depth interviews. The sample was selected from a total of 37 exemplars, identified in the quantitative component of a larger mixed-methods study, regarding the pastors’ perspectives toward relational connection in pastoral ministry. Three themes emerged from the data regarding relational connection in pastoral ministry. First, pastors indicated the need to be intentional about pastoral connection. Second, the pastors stressed the importance of being available to congregants who specifically desire pastoral connection. Finally, the participants related that pastors should give particular attention …

The More Things Change: An Analysis Of Recent Fourth Amendment Jurisprudence, Robert Vaughn Jan 2014

The More Things Change: An Analysis Of Recent Fourth Amendment Jurisprudence, Robert Vaughn

History and Government Faculty Publications

Perhaps no Constitutional amendment gets tried and tested more than the Fourth Amendment. Each year, thousands of criminal defendants bring legal challenges to the proceedings against them rooted in claimed Fourth Amendment violations. Changing technology and its use fuels a large part of this as new technology intersects with individual privacy in new ways. An oft heard argument in Fourth Amendment jurisprudence is that the Fourth Amendment must change in order to keep up with the progress of time and societal change. Through an analysis of recent case law examining Fourth Amendment protections and technology, this article concludes that the …

Background: “Interprofessional education (IPE) is defined as the process by which individuals from two or more health professions learn with, from, and about each other across the spectrum of their education to improve collaboration, practice, and the quality of health care.” [1] Interprofessional Education has recently gained interest as an important aspect of training in healthcare professions, attracting the attention and support of several key pharmacy organizations. Various models of IPE have been implemented to facilitate collaboration among medical, nursing, pharmacy, and social work students and professionals. An Exploration Of Young Adult Online Behavior Versus Their Face-To-Face Interactions, Andrea L. Caldwell Dec 2013

An Exploration Of Young Adult Online Behavior Versus Their Face-To-Face Interactions, Andrea L. Caldwell

Master of Education Research Theses

This non-experimental study examines the online behavior of young adults versus their face-to-face interactions. A social media survey was sent to undergraduate students of two private universities in the Midwest via e-mail. A total of 1,365 undergraduates participated in the survey. Analysis of the surveys found that 99% of the undergraduates considered themselves honest people. A chi square test comparing male and female responses revealed that honesty does not depend upon gender. A question of whether a person would say mean things to or about a person in a face-to-face encounter was compared with the question of whether a person …
