Constancy And Change In The Women’S Funding Network: International Horizons And Core Values, Eleanor Brilliant
Constancy And Change In The Women’S Funding Network: International Horizons And Core Values, Eleanor Brilliant
The Foundation Review
This article is a case study of women’s advocacy funders and their network organization, the Women’s Funding Network (WFN). WFN developed in the context of alternative (targeted) private funding sources emerging in the 70s and 80s to support newly formed social action and identity groups, some of whom had been encouraged by federal programs before the Reagan era, but that in those years were also not receiving support from more traditional funders like the United Way and many foundations.
The author analyzes the evolution of the network and its member funds from 1985 to 2012 as they struggled for survival …

2015 Slac Presentation: Correlation Between Library Instruction And Student Retention, Mary O'Kelly
2015 Slac Presentation: Correlation Between Library Instruction And Student Retention, Mary O'Kelly
Presentations
Grand Valley State University Libraries has found a statistically significant positive correlation between librarian-led instruction and student retention. The libraries’ Head of Instructional Services and the university's Institutional Analysis department worked together to connect library instruction with student-level data and then analyze that data over several academic years. This presentation will outline the data collection process, analysis methods, limitations, and outcomes of a longitudinal study.

Characterization Of Fast-Scan Cyclic Voltammetric Electrodes Using Paraffin As An Effective Sealant With In Vitro And In Vivo Applications, Eric Ramsson, Albert Dionise, Daniel Cholger, Nicholas Poirer, Avery Andrus, Randi Curtiss
Funded Articles
Fast-scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV) is a powerful technique for measuring sub-second changes in neurotransmitter levels. A great time-limiting factor in the use of FSCV is the production of high-quality recording electrodes; common recording electrodes consist of cylindrical carbon fiber encased in borosilicate glass. When the borosilicate is heated and pulled, the molten glass ideally forms a tight seal around the carbon fiber cylinder. It is often difficult, however, to guarantee a perfect seal between the glass and carbon. Indeed, much of the time spent creating electrodes is in an effort to find a good seal. Even though epoxy resins can …

Evaluating Rv Campground Attributes Using Ipa Analysis, Kimberly Severt, Jill Fjelstul
Evaluating Rv Campground Attributes Using Ipa Analysis, Kimberly Severt, Jill Fjelstul
Journal of Tourism Insights
The objectives of the current study were to examine the perceived importance and performance of campground attributes from the perception of RV Association members. One of the benefits the RV association provides its members is a discount on parking fees for campgrounds affiliated with the RV association. This study used Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) to determine areas of differences in which improvement could be made. The study also compared motorized and non-motorized vehicle owner’s perceptions of camp ground attributes as well as female and male perceptions of camp ground attributes. The campground attribute ‘loyalty programs’ was the only attribute that showed …
Exploring Foodie Segmentation, Carol S. Kline, Jerusha Greenwood, Leah Joyner
Exploring Foodie Segmentation, Carol S. Kline, Jerusha Greenwood, Leah Joyner
Journal of Tourism Insights
Previous research studies have explored the activities, motivations, and outcomes for the culinary tourist, and researchers have theorized certain segments of culinary travelers (Boniface, 2003; Mitchell, Hall & McIntosh, 2000). Contrasting to this, investigation into “the foodie” and his or her activities at home has been strikingly infrequent. Exploring the foodie ‘at home’ or the foodie’s everyday behavior is critical to understanding different types of foodies, how to market to foodies, and their decision-making processes for culinary travel. The purpose of this study is to test, via an online survey, a scale that distinguishes between different types of foodies, and …
Developing A Tourism Opportunity Spectrum Scale, Joshua Carroll, Kelsey Hession
Developing A Tourism Opportunity Spectrum Scale, Joshua Carroll, Kelsey Hession
Journal of Tourism Insights
The Recreation Opportunity Spectrum (ROS) has been used in a multitude of recreation planning and management applications, and has led the way for the development of the Water Recreation Opportunity Spectrum (WROS) – its water based counterpart. More recently the Tourism Opportunity Spectrum (TOS) has been identified as a valuable tool for assessing nature-based tourism viability and host community-visitor relationships (Butler and Waldbrook, 2003). This tool relies on important tourism conditions of site access, compatibility of other uses, regimentation, tourism impacts, onsite management, and social perceptions of visitors and hosts.
This tool however, has its merits for application, but …
Festival Attendees’ Perceptions Of Green Hotel Practices, Jason D. Oliver, Alex Naar, Erin Harris
Festival Attendees’ Perceptions Of Green Hotel Practices, Jason D. Oliver, Alex Naar, Erin Harris
Journal of Tourism Insights
Lodging managers and festival organizers have an incentive to understand how festival attendees perceive hotels with green practices in place. Lodging managers that understand how to segment, target, and position their offerings to festival attendees, including sustainable practices, can maximize financial gains from festivals. Festival organizers have related interests: they want to minimize negative impacts on the physical environment and maximize positive customer experiences on- and off-site. To provide insights into festival attendees’ perceptions of green hotel practices that may assist both sets of stakeholders, the manuscript presents the results of a survey of convenience samples from two food festivals. …
