This case study shows how a failure to follow accepted strategies for organizational crisis management preceded and contributed to the demise of Robert H. Schuller’s Christian ministry and the loss of its iconic church, the Crystal Cathedral. The case study illustrates how the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, which had already engaged in strategic planning for a new house of worship, was able to take advantage of Rev. Schuller’s situation and acquire his ministry’s property for a fraction of its value. Through enrollment in a capstone course in campaign management, Communications undergraduates become part of a student-run advertising and public relations agency. Seven formative and summative evaluations by students, graduate teaching assistants, instructors, and clients are used to assess students’ individual and collective concept knowledge and demonstration of specific skills. Indigenous women have long been engaged in unambiguous advocacy for a human rights-based approach to gender injustice in their communities and nations. Indigenous nations, for their part, have repeatedly and passionately posited collective human rights as necessary for the protection of cultural distinction. These projects should be reconcilable – but this reconciliation requires the political will to critically engage with historical and contemporary colonialism, and to address the internalization of patriarchy and sexism in Indigenous societies today. This study seeks to provide empirical evidence about how health-related questions are answered in text reference service in order to further the understanding of how to best use texting as a reference service venue to fulfill people’s health information needs. Two hundred health reference transactions from My Info Quest, the first nation-wide collaborative text reference service, were analyzed identify the types of questions, length of transactions, question-answering behavior, and information sources used in the transactions. This study reviews research themes and methods used in Information technology (IT) in government and e-government research. Although IT/e-government studies (including inward aspects of IT applications in government and e-government studies) continue to increase, they are not comprehensively understood as a subfield within public administration. Based on Rosenbloom’s three competing approaches to public administration (managerial, political, and legal), we investigated the major research themes of IT/e-government studies in public administration. We analyzed 248 IT/egovernment articles published in six major public administration journals from 1965 to 2010 to examine IT/e-government research trends in terms of research themes and methods.

This study was a replication of a previous study (in which) participants were given relaxation and deep breathing training to help manage test anxiety. The study examined the correlations between relaxation strategies, gum chewing and variables including socioeconomic status, class rank, GPA, and importance of going to college. Participants included 96 high school students (36 males, 60 females), preparing for the ACT (American College Testing). Results indicated that the relaxation intervention had a significant effect in reducing test anxiety.

This study investigated the effects of mentoring on selected attributes among high school mentors. Three attributes were explored: altruism, commitment to school, and student leadership. Seventy-four high school juniors and seniors participated as mentors to high school freshmen students. Mentors participated in a leadership training program prior to beginning their mentoring activities. Pre- and post-test measures of the three attributes were administered. Results showed no significant increase in altruism or commitment scores. Unexpectedly, the mentoring experience produced a significant decrease in the perception of leadership scores. Implications for implementing a mentoring program in a high school setting are discussed.

Esfahani (1991) shows that the statistically significant correlation between export promotion and economic growth in semi-industrialized countries (SICs) has been mainly attributable to the role of exports in reducing import ‘shortages’, which have impeded output growth in these countries. As a result, export-promotion policies as a superior development strategy in SICs play an important role in those that cannot secure sufficient foreign aid or investment. Esfahani (1991) also develops a simultaneous equations model to address the simultaneity bias between GDP and export growth rates. This paper examines the impact of the drivers of economic growth in developing countries. We modify the conventional neoclassical growth model to account for the impact of the increase in the number of people working relative to the total population and that of the increase in the value added per worker over time. Based on data from the World Bank for the 1995-2010 period and a sample of thirty-eight developing economies we find that the growth rate of per capita GDP is linearly dependent on technological progress, gross capital formation, the initial level of output per capita, and labour productivity …

In 2010, Booth Library began establishing an institutional repository, The Keep, an effort that involved multiple departments within the library. Potential content recruitment for the repository included large-scale digitization of archival materials and migration of previously created digital collections. Creation of the repository resulted in increased accessibility, better presentation of content that had existed on outmoded legacy web platforms, and the rescue of damaged content that had been disintegrating on other digital storage formats. This article reviews the electoral fortunes of Tea Party candidates for the House of Representative in 2012. Tea Party and Tea Party endorsed candidates are similar to other Republican candidates. Although they have served in the House for a shorter period of time, they have approximately the same financial resources, prior political experience and reelection rate as other Republicans. Multivariate analysis finds that Tea Party membership and endorsement has no significant impact on electoral outcome when other factors (incumbency, running for an open seat, quality of opposing candidate, prior political experience, financial resources and Obama’s vote) are controlled for.
