Objectives: Cigarette smoking remains a major cause of death in China. Are health sciences libraries in China currently providing awareness, advocacy, or research support for the societal benefits of smoking reduction? Methods: Following institutional review board approval, Library contacts for Chinese schools of medicine, public health, and pharmacy were identified. A bilingual online survey was constructed to obtain respondents’ demographic detail and answers to questions about library resources and services that constitute academic awareness, advocacy, curriculum, or research support about tobacco and smoking. Access to relevant health information is essential for helping people to take good decisions to enhance their health and well-being. The research examined the importance, level and sources of access to health information for patients with chronic diseases in two Federal Government Teaching Hospitals in South East Nigeria. The research is a cross-sectional survey that used questionnaire to collect data. Sample was 784 patients in two Federal Government Teaching Hospitals in South East Nigeria. Using a combination of bibliometrics and social network analysis methods, co-authorship network of iMetrics was studied in the time spam of 1978-2014 and top researches in the field were identified. Then, the relationship between these researchers’ productivity, performance, and centrality indicators was investigated. Out of 5944 studied records, researchers such as Leydesdorff L, Glanzel W and Rousseau R gained the higher centrality measures. There was a significant relationship between productivity and performance. The paper examines 140375 global publications on world mobile research, as covered in Scopus database during 2007-16. The field of world mobile research witnessed an annual average growth rate of 1.68%. Life-long reading has positive effects on our lives and health. This study examines the ways in which adult library patrons read today. Using circulation statistics from four public libraries in the north suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, we explore the differences in reader preferences between traditional print reading (print book checkouts) and e-reading (eBook downloads). A correlational survey research design was adopted. The study aimed to explore the use and non-use of magazines and journals at Saint Mary’s University Learning Resource Center. Through a researcher-made survey questionnaire, data were gathered from 40 faculty and 46 student respondents from the four undergraduate schools. The descriptive method was used to determine the reasons for use and registration use of magazines and journals while qualitative method was used to elicit the recommendations for their effective use.

Authorship Patterns And Collaborative Research In The Journal Of Biofuels, 2010-2016, Kotti Thavamani

Abstract: This article analyzed the various components of the articles published in the Journal of Biofuels from 2010 – 2016. Various quality aspects of the 106 research articles and 376 authors were examined by growth of contributions by year and issue, authorship patterns by year and volume, authorship patterns, author productivity, authorship patterns by global, most prolific contributors and degree of collaboration. The average number of authors per paper is 3.462 and the average productivity per author is 0.288. The average degree of collaboration is 0.933 during the period under study.
