This article addresses the purpose, the organization, and results of an experimental credit-bearing upper division service-learning course at a Master’s granting university, entitled LIBR 397: The Digital Divide. In addition to reviewing collegiate efforts on teaching the Digital Divide within the United States, this article also provides an overview of the challenges and successes associated with teaching such a course. This study has investigated the status of hardware, software, networking and IT support available in university libraries of Pakistan. Survey method of research was employed to collect the data through a questionnaire survey. This paper analyses the citation patterns of the Education & Educational research Spanish journals within the Journal Citation Report (JCR). The analysis is based on four indicators: the references’ type percentage, the mean reference per documents, the mean reference age and the journals’ citation frequency. The results show that the mean reference age is higher than eleven years. Moreover, the citation to journals represent less than the half of the total amount of references.

The present work is a bibliometric analysis of a leading journal in Palaeobotany and Palynology, ‘Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology’. The study, based on Web of Science TM as the tool reveals that 1821 authors have contributed 903 papers during the years 2003 to 2012. Our analysis includes the publications output, exponential growth rate, authorship patterns, collaborative co-efficient and prolific authors, country wise and organization-wise distribution of contributions.

The study reveals that multiple authorship with collaboration of three (25.47%) and two authors (25.36%) was dominant. The average degree of collaboration for study period was 0.87. The Collaborative Coefficient …

The article analyses the citations of doctoral dissertations in Commerce awarded by University of Kerala, India from 2001 to 2010. Data extracted include year of submission of thesis, title of the thesis, title of the cited work, year of the publication of the cited work type of the document and if journal title of the journals. The citations were divided into six categories; books, journals, conference papers, reports, theses/dissertations and electronic documents. The main purpose of this research was to identify strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats associated with information marketing and appropriate strategies for the development of information marketing in Iranian Faculties of Agriculture. The research population consisted of all staff employed in central libraries of in the selected Faculties of Agriculture (Universities of Tehran, Ferdowsi of Mashhad, Shiraz, Tabriz and Isfahan technology) (N=107). Library chain of operation is measured in this availability study. The function of acquisition, cataloging, circulation, library system and procedure is examined by a simulated search performed by librarian and library staff. A number of 100 titles is randomly searched in OPAC and effort to search initiated and findings are examined. The purpose of this study was to investigate academics’ use of scholarly electronic journal articles at Mzuzu University and assess the factors influencing their behaviour. A publisher of a research database controls the search algorithms of its database and, at a minimum, partially controls the indexing metadata attached to journal articles indexed in its database. A publisher of a journal partially controls the indexing metadata attached to articles in that journal. This article presents the results of a survey given to public and school library workers to gain a foundational understanding of censorship within the state of Idaho. Our population was asked questions regarding position demographics; experience with challenges; the tracking, reporting and assistance sought; and the contents of said challenge policies. Special attention was also given to the history of censorship, both nationally and statewide, and the demographic, political, and legislative characteristics of Idaho, to provide a conceptual framework for the findings. The results of this statewide survey address an important and uninvestigated segment of national challenges and Idaho librarianship.

This study reports the Internet usage, purposes, difficulties while using internet by the Post Graduate Sstudnets at Nishtar Medical College (NMC), Multan and also identifies the usage of different health related websites and databases to supplement learning by PGS. This study is based on comprehensive literature review and pre-tested questionnaire that was distributed among 210 PGS. The response rate was very satisfactory 85%. With a great deal of legacy metadata currently existing in the increasingly outdated MARC format, many institutions are searching for efficient ways to convert this data into formats that are more current, extensible and suitable for the description of digital and non-print materials. In this study, a group of digitized photographs from a Library of Congress collection with MARC records available is converted into a set of Dublin Core records to document the process involved in such a conversion. Successful tactics used, challenges encountered and the overall results of the conversion process are detailed.

The purpose of this paper was to highlight the role of libraries in the provision of information towards the attainment of the United Nation Millennium Development Goals (MDGS) in Nigeria. With the methodology of simple literature review, the paper made efforts to review related literature on libraries’ role in the provision of information for development. The relationship between libraries and the Millennium Development Goals was also discussed. Suggestions were proffered on ways libraries can contribute to the achievement of the MDGs. The study sought to ascertain the challenges and benefits of library automation and to recommend how the challenges could be addressed. The study employed single case study techniques as the research design. Semi-structured interview was used for the data gathering. Data was qualitatively analysed using a thematic approach.It highlights retrospective conversion, lack of local experts, lack of trained staffs, unstable power supply, desert of job, attitudinal problems as the challenges confronting the library. The study also shows that as a result of automation, the library is faster and efficient than before in its operations.
