Whole Farm Analysis Of Low-Input Sustainable Farming Systems Using An Extension Farm Financial Management Package, Mark Leddy, Thomas Dobbs, Burton Pflueger

Economics Staff Paper Series

Farmers in recent years have been faced with economic hardships and an increasing awareness of the environmental impacts of conventional farming practices. These factors have led many farmers to consider "alternative" farming methods and practices to replace conventional farming practices. "Alternative" systems include those going by a variety of labels, not all of which always mean the same thing. Terms used include regenerative sustainable, low-input, and organic, among others. A recently established research and education program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture uses the term "low-input/sustainable agriculture" ("LISA"). Spain acquired Louisiana from France in 1763 but was initially unsuccessful in integrating the distant colony into the Spanish commercial system. Encouraged by the colony’s chief financial officer, Intendant Martín Navarro, the Spanish Crown introduced legislation on January 22, 1782 to promote commerce. Free trade was to be permitted for ten years with designated ports in France. The liberal character of the code fostered the growth of numerous merchant companies in New Orleans who found markets for all of Louisiana’s exports in France, England and the French West Indies. Unfortunately, Spain continued to absorb all of the administrative costs for …

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). As of Fall 2019 The Anchor has moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.
