The Top Fives: An Internet Pathfinder For Law Librarians, Yolanda Patrice Jones Jan 1995

The Top Fives: An Internet Pathfinder For Law Librarians, Yolanda Patrice Jones

Journal Publications

Many law librarians are currently beginning to explore the Internet as a source of legal information. One of the most frequently asked questions after one gets an Interet connection is "Where do I go from here?" The following pathfinder is a list of what I consider to be the most important resources which will lead the legal researcher to the widest possible amount of legal information on the Internet. This list is purely subjective, and certainly not complete. I tried to stick to the 'top five' format as much as possible, but every so often I couldn't help myself from …

Using Section 337 Of The Tariff Act Of 1930 To Block Materially Different Gray Market Goods In The Common Control Context: Are Reports Of Its Death Greatly Exaggerated?, Margo A. Bagley

Faculty Articles

This Comment examines the primary reasons for trademark owners within the common control exception to revisit section 337 when faced with materially different gray market goods. Part One discusses the issues in and history of the gray market goods controversy, and the common control exception. Part Two focuses on section 337: how it works, its use in gray market goods cases, and how it has changed as a result of amendments in the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 and in the Uruguay Round Agreements Act of 1994. Part Three traces the changes in the gray market landscape favorable …

Review Of Skeletal Biology In The Great Plains: Migration, Warfare, Health, And Subsistence, Edited By Douglas W. Owsley And Richard L. Jantz. Washington, D.C.: Smithsonian Institution Press, 1994. 415 Pages., Alan J. Osborn

Department of Anthropology: Faculty Publications

First paragraph:

The editors and contributors to this large, impressive volume present thirty-two chapters that deal with Great Plains skeletal biology. The goal of these diverse investigations was to derive critical information from human skeletal remains about past inhabitants of the Plains, including prehistoric and historic Indians, as well as Euro-Americans. These contributions are organized topically into five parts: (1) archaeology; (2) demography and paleopathology; (3) biological distance measures and skeletal morphology; (4) diet and subsistence strategies; and (5) warfare. The studies represent the collaborative efforts of archaeologists, physical anthropologists, ethnologists, ethnohistorians, and physical scientists. A major impetus for these …

Effects Of Short-Term Volunteer Experience On Self-Perceptions And Prosocial Behavior, Richard A. Stevick, J. A. Addleman Jan 1995

Effects Of Short-Term Volunteer Experience On Self-Perceptions And Prosocial Behavior, Richard A. Stevick, J. A. Addleman

Psychology Educator Scholarship

Over the past 20 years, U.S. first-year college students have reported a declining interest in arriving at a meaningful philosophy of life, participating in their communities, and advocating for the well-being of the disadvantaged -- in contrast to a growing interest in becoming financially successful and gaining recognition (Astin, Green, & Korn, 1987; Dey, Astin, & Korn, 1991). A corrective that is frequently suggested as a remedy for this type of self-preoccupation is community service (Delve, Mintz, & Stewart, 1990; Hedin & Conrad, 1980; Kendall, 1990a, 1990b; Williams, 1980).

Thus, in the present study we attempted to determine whether students …

A Cost-Benefit Analysis For The Implementation Of Lean Logistics To Aircraft Structural Repair At The Air Force Material Command's Warner Robins Air Logistics Center/Depot, Richard J. Ruggiero

Masters Culminating Experiences (1993-2011)

This research conducts a cost-benefit analysis of the implementation of lean logistics to the repair of aircraft structural components at the Air Force Material Command's (AFMC) Warner Robins Air Logistics Center (WR-ALC). A literature review identifies new business practices in the automotive industry, collectively 'termed "lean production," that were translated by the RAND Corporation into a modified Air Force logistics system-- the "lean logistics" model.

Theoretical costs and benefits from the lean logistics model are translated into empirical costs and benefits associated with aircraft structural repair. The cost-benefit analysis results clearly demonstrate that express distribution costs for the sizable aircraft …

Concerns/Needs Experienced By Low-Income Mothers Following A Postpartum Hospital Stay Of Less Than Forty-Eight Hours, Karen S. Kujala

Masters Theses

The purpose of this study was to describe the needs and concerns that low income women experience during the first seven days at home following discharge from a postpartum hospital stay of less than forty-eight hours. Dorothea Orem's theory of self-care was the conceptual framework.; The sample (n = 50) consisted of Medicaid eligible postpartum mothers, 18 years of age or older, who were discharged with their infants in less than 48 hours after delivery. The mothers were contacted by telephone seven days after discharge to complete an interview regarding concerns they might have experienced.; Data were analyzed descriptively. The …
