A Study Of The Relationship Between Alcoholism And Self-Esteem, Judy A. Astel

Theses

The relationship between the length of sobriety in the twelve step program of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and self-esteem level was examined for 27 recovering alcoholics. Participants included L3 male and 14 female members of AA who volunteered to complete the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory and a cover/survey letter that contained demographic questions. Where it was predicted that there would be no relationship between length of sobriety and self-esteem level, it was found that there was a positive relationship between the two for the total group and the female group. Summarizes information on wildlife viewing in Montana by residents and nonresidents, drawing from three studies conducted by the ITRR as well as the 1991 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-Associated Recreation. The report displays national trends in wildlife viewing, resident and nonresident viewer characteristics and participation patterns in Montana, and resident preferences for viewing area enhancements and for program funding sources.

The Effects Of Subsidies On Public Transit Long-Run Costs, Kofi Obeng, Wayne K. Talley, Christopher Colburn

Economics Faculty Publications

This paper investigates sources of public transit long-run cost increases attributable to transit subsidies. The sources include wage, vehicle capital price and service increases. Service expansion is found to be the major source. Transit cost increases related to subsidies are classified as input price, output and finance effects of these subsidies. Transit costs are more responsive to federal operating subsidies, followed in declining order by local operating, state operating and capital subsidies, respectively.

As the English and French grappled for North American hegemony in the first half of the eighteenth century, trade with the Indian groups of the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley transcended mere financial calculations and assumed a broader imperial significance. to the native peoples who exchanged their peltry for European manufactured goods, trade was the material manifestation of mutual obligation, political dialogue, and military alliance. This study focused on secondary school counselors employed in public schools in the state of Virginia. It investigated the direction and strength of the relationship of level of moral development, locus of control, HIV knowledge and HIV attitudes.;Locus of control was measured by Rotter's Internal-External Locus of Control Scale (I-E Scale). The Defining Issues Test (DIT) was used to assess counselor level of moral development. An HIV questionnaire examined counselor attitudes and knowledge. Kohlbery's theory of moral development provided the basis for the study.;It was hypothesized that the level of moral development would show a significant positive relationship with the …

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a social skills training program designed to improve the social status of isolated and rejected children. Subjects were fourth and fifth grade students from two different elementary schools. One school served as the control group and the other one was the experimental group.;The sample consisted of 91 identified students from both schools. A nonequivalent control group research design was used. Pre- and posttest information was gathered using the Piers-Harris Self-Perception Questionnaire, Achenbach's Teacher's Report Form, and Sociogram.
