Minneapolis Kinship Mentoring Program: A Descriptive And Exploratory Study, Susan J. Kramer
Minneapolis Kinship Mentoring Program: A Descriptive And Exploratory Study, Susan J. Kramer
Theses and Graduate Projects
Children are growing up with a diminished level of adult contact that affects their social and emotional well-being. Structured adult-to-youth mentoring programs provide stable, caring adult mentors for youth in need of additional adult support. This qualitative study describes the Kinship Program, its program population and explores the nature of mentoring relationships between children and mentors from the Minneapolis Kinship Program. For this thesis, personal interviews were conducted with parents whose children were matched with mentors from the Kinship Program. Fourteen interviews were completed; this was a 47 percent response rate. Interview results indicated that parents believed mentors developed trust …

Development Of A Workshop For Older Adult Volunteers Using A Life Strengths Guide With Clients, Karen A. Strom
Theses and Graduate Projects
The purpose of this project is to develop a training workshop that teaches older adult volunteers about a Life Strengths Interview Guide that can be used when working with clients. The framework of the workshop focuses on Erik Erikson's life cycle theory with a strengths perspective. The interview guide is divided into eight sections that relate to Erikson's eight psychosocial stages of life. Each section contains questions related to a specific stage in life and is intended to get the client talking about the strengths that are found in these specific areas of his or her life. The workshop is …
Becoming People Who Find Solutions, Eli J. Segal
Becoming People Who Find Solutions, Eli J. Segal
Special Topics, General
I asked a young boy in Maine why he thought spending six hours a month in a homeless shelter was an important part of his 5th-grade lessons. "Because I used to think that homeless people were really different and frightening," he said. "Now I know that a lot of homeless people are like me inside, but things didn't work out for them somehow. I'm learning about what they need."

The Anchor, Volume 108.21: April 19, 1995, Hope College
The Anchor: 1995
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). As of Fall 2019 The Anchor has moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Boston Marathon With The Red Sox, Richard C. Crepeau
Boston Marathon With The Red Sox, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
Last Monday was Patriot's Day in Boston, the day of the Boston Marathon. For who knows how long now, the Red Sox have played an early afternoon game in the shadow of the Marathon. It seemed almost unnatural to watch those marathon highlights and not see them followed by scenes from Fenway Park.
