Money And Baseball: The Salaries Keep Rising, Richard C. Crepeau
Money And Baseball: The Salaries Keep Rising, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
It was the late Senator Everett McKinley Dirksen of Illinois who once said, "a billion here, a billion there, pretty soon were talking about real money." This quaint observation came to mind over the past few days in baseball as it was "a few million here, a few million there." One wonders if we are now talking about real money.
The Fragmentation Of Self Within The Indian Novel, Michele Gibney
The Fragmentation Of Self Within The Indian Novel, Michele Gibney
Michele Gibney
With the novel Midnight’s Children, Rushdie forged a new path for novel-writing. In his epic story the main character became split into two in order to show the many facets of Indian culture. Instead of gaining an understanding of just one way of life, the reader became privy to all the stories being lived in such places as the Methwold estates, the surreal Sundarbans, and the Magician’s Ghetto. The story of one, single individual was lost in the cacophony of voices that each had their own tale to tell in Rushdie’s novel. This new form of writing, which favored the …

Effective Fathering And The Quantity And Quality Of Time Spent With Children, Joshua T. Payton Ma
Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)
Research into fathers' parenting is relatively new. New measures have been developed to assess the style and effectiveness of fathering. Many questions remain about the salient elements of effective fathering. The present study was focused on the quantity and quality of time that fathers spend at home and in contact with their children. The primary research questions were (a) What is the relationship between the quantity of time spent with children and the quality of time spent with children? (b) What is the relationship between effective fathering attributes and the quantity of time spent with children? and(c)What is the relationship …

The Leap Of Faith Exploring Social Workers' Role In Therapeutic Foster Care And The Impact Of Implementing The Strengths Perspective, Joshua M. Kent
Theses and Graduate Projects
The strengths perspective has received significant attention in recent years in both academic and practice settings. Examining its implementation will provide important information about how it can function as a practice model, and therefore facilitate the development of this emergent model. The present study focuses on the implementation of a pilot project designed to incorporate the strengths perspective in therapeutic foster care. The study examines how the strengths perspective affects social workers' roles and responsibilities in therapeutic foster care, and what can be learned about the strengths perspective by examining its implementation in an agency setting. The findings show that …
The Significance Of The Kicker In American And European Football, Richard C. Crepeau
The Significance Of The Kicker In American And European Football, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
One of the primary objectives in sport is to win. In American sport winning is too often the only thing. Coaches spend sixteen to eighteen-hour days in seven-day weeks searching for all those little keys to victory that are necessary to success. Owners too spend time, energy and especially dollars in the great quest for the glory that comes with winning.
