Managing The Transition From Large-Scale Oral History Research To Digital Archive: The Digital Librarian’S Perspective, Cory K. Lampert
Managing The Transition From Large-Scale Oral History Research To Digital Archive: The Digital Librarian’S Perspective, Cory K. Lampert
Library Faculty Presentations
We live in an increasingly digital world. Preparing for this conference I composed my paper in word-processing software, e-mailed the draft to my co-presenters, selected digital images and screenshots for our presentation, and announced my travel plans on the library staff blog. Cultural materials are also riding the wave to go digital and oral histories provide intimate pathways into the stories of our world. Despite experience in digitizing other formats, many institutions (such as UNLV) are just beginning to explore partnerships with oral historians, IT departments, and libraries to tackle the work of mounting transcripts, images, audio, and video into …

Emerging adulthood has been characterized as an age of possibilities that involves heightened identity exploration and risk-taking. Although some scholars have investigated the relation between identity status and risk behaviors in emerging adulthood, less attention has been paid to the relation between identity status and prosocial orientations. Thus, the current study examined how emerging adults’ engagement in positive behaviors (i.e., prosocial tendencies, internalization of values, religiosity) varied as a function of identity status and gender. Results indicated that emerging adults who were in identity diffusion reported fewer prosocial tendencies, lower scores on internalization of values and lower religiosity, but emerging …

Giving Voice To The Religious, Seow Hon Tan
Giving Voice To The Religious, Seow Hon Tan
Research Collection Yong Pung How School Of Law
The relevance of moral values endorsed by religious persons in public decision-making has often been debated. The issue comes to the fore again in relation to the debate on Section 377A of the Penal Code dealing with acts of gross indecency between males. With the flourishing of diverse viewpoints that is a natural consequence of a liberal democratic society, and with greater participation by an increasingly sophisticated citizenry online and in the media, particularly in a nation in which those without religious affiliations make up only 15 per cent of the population, the ground rules of public discourse must be …

Carsey School of Public Policy
The author of this annual update on the state's workforce finds that wage growth in the state has not kept up with the rising cost of living in New Hampshire. This negative impact exists despite the state's low unemployment rates and high labor force participation rates. This brief was prepared in cooperation with the Economic Policy Institute.

Essays On The Evaluation Of Land Use Policy: The Effects Of Regulatory Protection On Land Use And Social Welfare, Kwaw Senyi Andam
Public Management and Policy Dissertations
Societies frequently implement land use policies to regulate resource extraction or to regulate development. However, two important policy questions remain unresolved. First, how effective are land use regulations? Second, how do land use regulations affect socioeconomic conditions? Three issues complicate the evaluation of land use policies: (1) overt bias may lead to incorrect estimates of policy effects if implementation is nonrandom; (2) the policy may affect outcomes in neighboring unregulated lands; and (3) unobservable differences between regulated and unregulated lands may lead to biased assessments. Previous evaluations of land use policies fail to address these sources of bias simultaneously. In …

The Anchor: 2007
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). As of Fall 2019 The Anchor has moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Entrepreneurial self-employment, however, would hold great promise for business-minded students, if they learn entrepreneurship in high school and can test out their innovative business plans on consumers in their own neighborhoods and beyond — especially Internet start-up ideas. The social and community networking success of MySpace opens a wide door for anyone to market a new idea or product to a myriad of potential customers instantly.
