Ilr Impact Brief - Workforce Alignment And Fluidity May Yield A Competitive Advantage, Lee Dyer, Jeff Ericksen

Lee Dyer

[Excerpt] The authors postulate that workforce scalability is the key competency necessary for ongoing marketplace success. Workforce scalability encompasses two factors: alignment and fluidity. The former is an ideal target that calls for the right number of the right type of people in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. The latter is the means by which organizations hit the target, and specifically refers to the speed and ease with which employees are moved around and adjust their behaviors to suit changing business requirements. Precious Pilgrims, Alan A. Mackenzie

Sometimes we find ourselves in meaningful group situations that change radically -- leaving us in a reflective space which can promote trasformational growth and change. This paper discusses possible reasons why group relations can help to facilitate individuation. It also incorporates Object Relations theory and observable group dynamics a la Bion, while exploring how work in the "here & now" (contemplative practices) can affect "containment & holding" of the group members.

Municipal Accountability : Should Regulations Similar To The Sarbanes-Oxley Act Apply To The Local Sector?, Douglas Ray Fink

FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations

As America moved into the 21" century financial scandals associated with large publicly traded corporations brougt widespread concern about the reliability of financial reporting. In response the U.S. Congress adopted the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX). Undergirding SOX was the belief that improvements in the reliability of an organization's financial disclosures would lead to increased trust in the issuing organization.

While SOX is aimed at publicly traded private sector organizations, the value of adopting SOX-like practices in the public and the nonprofit sectors have been recognized. Although SOX-like auditing practices have not at the time of this research become part …

Research/Therapy: A Review Of Adele Clarke’S Situational Analysis: Grounded Theory After The Postmodern Turn, Daniel P. Wulff

The Qualitative Report

Situational Analysis presents an iteration of Grounded Theory that incorporates the construction of a series of illustrative maps, conceptualizes a situation as inclusive of what usually has been considered context, and explicitly and systematically includes missing or otherwise silenced data. This review comments on how these attributes of situational analysis can also effectively inform the practice of family therapy. The potential of a research book to inform a clinical practice is an exciting development in advancing interdisciplinary studies and its related applications in the world.

The Remittance Environment In Nigeria, A. Englama

CBN Occasional Papers

This preliminary study is on the remittance environment in Nigeria which became compelling because of low availability of information and empirical research on the subject. The need to obtain evidence-based information to drive policy formulation on remittances inflow which grew from US$1.4 billion in 2002 to US$17.9 billion in 2007 and tap its potentials to promote economic growth in Nigeria were the rationale for the study. An understanding of the drivers, inhibitors, characteristics, cost of transaction and channels of the flows would promote policy formulation to improve the remittance environment. The objectives of the survey were to examine current trend …

The accident occurred because of carelessness of the deminer as he used chisel directly on the detected signal instead of [Demining group] standard excavating tool (scraper). The poor command and control is another contributing factor for this accident as he was not stopped by command group.

Ddasaccident635, Hd-Aid Nov 2008

Ddasaccident635, Hd-Aid

Global CWD Repository

The primary cause of this accident is listed as a Field Control Inadequacy because the Victim was a field supervisor who acted in breach of basic safety requirements by poking a mine with a stick, apparently as a joke. The secondary cause is listed as a Management Control Inadequacy because the demining group’s managers are responsible for the selection and training of appropriately responsible field supervisors.
