The windows have all been broken and are either boarded up or covered with gratings. It is surrounded by overgrown vegetation and in some places, there are trees rooted into the walls.

What Kills Love? Factors Influencing The Ending Of Love In Romantic Relationships, Michelle Duda

Theses and Dissertations

This thesis reports the results of an online survey study that examined dimensions of love, positive behaviors, negative behaviors, and relationship satisfaction in current romantic relationships where the individual currently had a feeling of being in love with their partner ("still in love" or SIL group) versus in past romantic relationships where the individual once had a feeling of being in love with that person, but ceased loving - essentially, fell out of love with - that person over the course of the relationship ("fell out of love" or FOL group). An MTurk sample of 202 individuals (Mean age = …

Using Technology In Library Instruction: Mobility, Flexibility And Creativity., Jennifer Wright

Jennifer Wright Joe

The information age has brought the need for information literacy to everyone’s doorstep. With 24-hour news cycles, newspaper websites, and social media, it is more important than ever before that library patrons have a grasp on information literacy. Libraries can teach patrons how to search for information and evaluate the sources that they encounter. They can also use the same technology that inundates the patron with information to reach out to those patrons who may not see the gap in their knowledge. Speaking specifically about academic libraries, librarians can now use remote teaching tools to bring their library instruction into …

Cause For Optimism? Child Poverty Declines For The First Time Since Before The Great Recession, Marybeth J. Mattingly, Jessica A. Carson, Andrew P. Schaefer

Carsey School of Public Policy

New data released on September 18, 2014, by the U.S. Census Bureau indicate that child poverty fell by 0.4 percentage point between 2012 and 2013, to 22.2 percent. Though still significantly higher than in 2007 when the Great Recession hit (18.0 percent), and higher than at its conclusion (20.0 percent) in 2009, the decline from 2012 may be cause for optimism. Estimates suggest the number of poor children declined by roughly 300,000 between 2012 and 2013.

In Search Of A Cause: An Etiological Analysis Of Manubrial Porosity, Jose Sanchez Sep 2014

In Search Of A Cause: An Etiological Analysis Of Manubrial Porosity, Jose Sanchez

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

Few studies in paleopathology focus on the sternum as a unit of analysis to determine how it can contribute to disease diagnosis in the past. This thesis tested the null hypothesis that manubrial porosity was not associated with respiratory disease or pulmonary tuberculosis. One hundred fifty-four individuals from the Luis Lopes Skeletal Collection were assessed for manubrial porosity. This study sought to be as comprehensive as possible, and thus tested several variables to identify any significant associations with manubrial porosity. Using the odds ratio, 95% confidence interval, and chi-square tests, significant associations exist between manubrial porosity, adolescence, and sternal body …

Perceptions About Equity In Public Health: A Comparison Between Frontline Staff And Informing Policy In Ontario, Katherine E. Rizzi

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

Methods: The aim of this study was to understand public health frontline staff (FLS) perspectives on health equity and how these align with provincial public health policy documents. A qualitative content analysis design was used to examine transcripts from six focus group interviews with frontline public health workers and seven key provincial public health documents that have shaped or influenced public health program planning in Ontario. Perceptions …
