The Case For Personal Interaction: Drop-Off/Pick-Up Methodology For Survey Research, Carla Koons Trentelman, Jessica Irwin, Kyle A. Petersen, Nallely Ruiz, Caitlin S. Szalay

Journal of Rural Social Sciences

Researchers have struggled with decreases in response rates in surveys using traditional methods. Dropoff/pick-up (DOPU) surveys are an alternative that performs well in some research situations. For studies in small or compact geographic areas, DOPU has achieved higher response rates than mail surveys, although typically at higher costs due to labor and transportation. Other benefits include increased local awareness of research projects and improved outcomes for complex survey projects. Social exchange theory would explain the success of DOPU as due to the method’s personal interaction. Many researchers are unfamiliar with DOPU and prior instructive works are now dated. In an …

Mending Invisible Wounds: The Efficacy And Legality Of Mdma-Assisted Psychotherapy In United States' Veterans Suffering With Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Jonathan Perry

Journal of Law and Health

Though Veteran Affairs has provided crucial life sustaining—and often lifesaving—treatments to returning soldiers, the substantial and ever-increasing rates of veteran suicides, drug addictions, and criminal behavior indicate a need for broader options in treatment. One of the most profound discoveries uncovered through MDMA-assisted psychotherapy research is MDMA’s facilitation of the alleviation of addictive behavior in subjects, and, as a result, an alleviation of addictions in general. Addiction is one of the key symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and drug abuse plays a large role in the other afflictions suffered by veterans, namely criminal activity and a high rate of …

Focusing on two texts, "Big Trip to Europe" and "Passing through Tangiers, France and London," Pacini considers Kerouac's and his alter ego Duluoz's visions of Tangier and their journey to Tangier as many thresholds or …
