Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a neurophysiological procedure that offers immense clinical utility due to its cost effectiveness, ease of use, and mobile application. Using fNIRS to measure neurological reactions to personalized trauma-related cues might strengthen diagnostic screening, tailor treatment planning, and improve detection of remission among individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Odors elicit strong emotional responses but remain underutilized in clinical research. This fNIRS study examined whether personalizing combat-related odors and sounds to have a higher or lower match to distressing combat experiences increased the observed neurological effect among combat veterans with and without combat-related PTSD. This dissertation explores how traits of a mass casualty event and community institutionalization affect how a community demonstrates solidarity after a mass casualty event. A systematic examination of mass casualty events along these lines has not been conducted before. Theoretically, individual helping behaviors like altruism help explain individual involvement in demonstrations of solidarity while solidarity and resilience help in explaining group behaviors. A typology is proposed that breaks up mass casualty events into four different types: terrorism, criminal, weather and accidents. This research examined how information regarding a robot teammate's reliability and the consequences for mistakes made by a robot in its task influence reliance on the robot by a human teammate. Of interest in this research was the notion of appropriate reliance: relying on a robot teammate's decisions when it is performing well and not relying on its decisions when it is performing poorly. An experiment was conducted in which participants interacted with an autonomous robot teammate while performing a cordon and search operation within a virtual reality simulation environment. Concussions are the most common neuropsychological problem in the United States and are associated with sequelae such as cognitive complaints and depression-related symptoms. Recent research suggests that head trauma is associated with anhedonia and that concussions have the potential to damage axons and postsynaptic connections in neural circuits that play a role in reward processing. Anhedonia may be better understood as an overarching construct with multiple subtypes including motivational, decisional, and consummatory. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a trauma-informed school-based mental health counseling intervention (TI-SBMHCI) on students enrolled in three Title I elementary schools. This study aimed to examine the impact of a TI-SBMHCI on participants' social-emotional functionality, trauma symptomology, and academic behavior. Counselors-in-training provided a 10-week TI-SBMHCI based off of Bath's (2008) The three Pillars of Trauma-informed Care and data was collected at pretest (first session), mid (fifth session), and posttest (tenth session). On September 20th, 2017, category four Hurricane Maria rattled Puerto Rico, causing extensive damage throughout the island. While the experiences, injuries, and deaths of humans resulting from Hurricane Maria have received both scholarly consideration and large amounts of attention from media sources, one critical area that has been overlooked by many, particularly academics, are the ways in which various media sources have reported on, described and discussed nonhuman animals impacted by the storm. The Maya believed there were multiple worlds in addition to the human world. Portals connected these worlds and allowed active engagement between the Maya and their gods. Without portals and the ability to communicate between the worlds the Maya belief system could not function. Evidence suggests the Maya believed reflective surfaces – mirrors and water surfaces – were portals to spiritual worlds. In this thesis, I examine the portrayal of mirrors as portals in Maya art, focusing on mirrors in scenes painted on ceramics. This thesis reexamines the effect of divided government on voter turnout originally posited by Franklin and Hirczy de Miño (1998), which suggested that each year of exposure to divided government resulted in a cumulative negative effect on voters leading to alienation and lower turnout. It reconsiders this argument using more recent data, given that voter turnout in U.S. presidential elections (as measured by the Voting Eligible Population) has increased since 2000, even though divided government has occurred during this period. The civilianization of government is often seen as a necessary prerequisite for successful democratization and healthy civil-military relations. This thesis explores the impact of integrating the military into political decision-making on the distribution of "guns" and "butter" – military spending and social spending - across dictatorships and democracies. Whereas a general consensus suggests that autocracies allocate greater goods to the military and fewer goods to the general public relative to democracies, an understudied variable is the military's integration into politics in both democracies and autocracies. Objective: Theoretical models that have guided the study of later-life depression include the vascular depression hypothesis, depression-executive dysfunction syndrome, and the CaR-FA-X model. Evidence suggests these can be integrated into a single developmental model of disordered mood (and its associated overgeneral memory feature) in later-life to delineate a mechanism of the vascular depression effect and identify modifiable intervention targets. Methods: In older adults, four serial mediation models evaluated the relationships between (1) vascular burden and depressive symptoms via executive control and rumination, and (2) vascular burden and autobiographical memory specificity (AMS) via executive control and rumination. Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common pathologies encountered in dry bone contexts. However, even with the wealth of publications on documenting the presence of OA from skeletons, these studies prove to be largely incomparable due to different scoring methodologies and procedures in calculating prevalence. The standardization of a new OA data collection procedure would mitigate variability in evaluating, scoring, and calculating the prevalence of OA, thus allowing accurate comparison between studies. There are many possible sources for youth to become educated about sexuality and reproduction, however the media are cited as particularly powerful and prominent sources of information (Jaworski, 2009). Particularly in an era in which abstinence-only messaging dominates sex education, media become a source to which young people turn and where they receive much of their sex-based messaging. The current protocols in fire debris analysis rely on ignitable liquid pattern recognition and the identification of target compounds. These practices allow fire debris analysts to determine whether a sample contains or is absent of ignitable liquid residue and to classify that type of ignitable liquid based upon subjective thresholds. A statistical approach using computationally mixed datasets was devised in this research to generate an objective approach to the classification of fire debris samples and to determine error rates. การประเมินความพร้อมและความสำคัญของเทคโนโลยีการลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจก เป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานที่สำคัญสำหรับการขับเคลื่อนให้เกิดการลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกให้เป็นไปตามเป้าหมาย ตามที่ประเทศไทยได้จัดทำแผนปฏิบัติการเพื่อลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกร้อยละ 20-25 จากกรณีปกติ ภายในปี ค.ศ. 2030 นอกจากนี้ยังสามารถใช้เป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานที่สำคัญสำหรับการกำหนดนโยบายการส่งเสริมงานวิจัยและพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีของประเทศไทยให้เป็นไปในทิศทางที่สอดคล้องกับแนวโน้มการเปลี่ยนแปลงของโลกและศักยภาพของประเทศไทย เพื่อให้เกิดความคุ้มค่าสูงสุด รวมทั้งเพื่อให้เทคโนโลยีการลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกมีความเป็นไปได้ในทางปฏิบัติ โดยพิจารณาความพร้อมในด้านต่าง ๆบนเป้าหมายที่ต้องการเพิ่มศักยภาพในการแข่งขันและทำให้เกิดการสร้างมูลค่าเพิ่มทางเศรษฐกิจ การพัฒนาด้านสังคมและการลดผลกระทบด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม ควบคู่กับความต้องการลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกไปพร้อม ๆ กัน งานวิจัยนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์ระดับความพร้อมและความสำคัญของเทคโนโลยีการลดการปล่อยก๊าซเรือนกระจกในแต่ละชนิด โดยใช้วิธีการวิเคราะห์แบบหลายเกณฑ์ (Multi-Criteria Analysis: MCA)

อุตสาหกรรมพลาสติกมีการขยายตัวและเติบโตขึ้นอย่างต่อเนื่องและรวดเร็วเนื่องจากพลาสติกถูกใช้เป็นวัสดุทดแทนวัสดุจากธรรมชาติ เช่น ไม้ โลหะ กระดาษ และแก้ว เป็นต้น อีกทั้งยังใช้เป็นวัสดุสำหรับใช้งานเฉพาะด้านในอุตสาหกรรมและในชีวิตประจำวันอีกด้วย ประกอบกับการที่พลาสติกเป็นวัสดุที่มีสมบัติเด่นหลายประการ เช่น ราคาถูก น้ำ หนักเบาและสะดวกต่อการประยุกต์ใช้งาน ผลิตภัณฑ์พลาสติกจึงถูกนำมาใช้อย่างกว้างขวาง แต่จากสภาพปัญหามลพิษและภาวะโลกร้อนที่ทุกประเทศทั่วโลกให้ความสำคัญเป็นอย่างมากในปัจจุบัน ส่งผลให้วัสดุที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม อาทิพลาสติกชีวภาพ (bioplastics) ซึ่งสามารถย่อยสลายได้ตามธรรมชาติ มีความสำคัญเพิ่มมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ เพื่อแทนที่การใช้งานพลาสติกทั่วไป (conventional plastics) ที่ผลิตจากปิโตรเลียม ซึ่งไม่สามารถย่อยสลายตามธรรมชาติและก่อให้เกิดปัญหาขยะตกค้างในธรรมชาติ อีกทั้ง การกำจัดโดยการเผาไหม้ยังก่อให้เกิดก๊าซเรือนกระจกที่เป็นสาเหตุของการเกิดปัญหาภาวะโลกร้อนตามมา

ถ่านชีวภาพ (biochar) เป็นวัสดุที่มีธาตุคาร์บอนเป็นองค์ประกอบหลัก โครงสร้างประกอบด้วยคาร์บอนที่ยึดจับกันเป็นโครงสร้างอะโรมาติก (aromatic structure) ทำให้ถ่านชีวภาพเป็นวัสดุที่มีความเสถียรสูง (Schmidt & Noack, 2000;Lehmann, 2007; Glaser et al., 2002) จึงถูกย่อยสลายได้ยากในธรรมชาติ (Preston & Schmidt, 2006; Gul et al., 2015)ถ่านชีวภาพเป็นผลผลิตจากกระบวนการย่อยสลายมวลชีวภาพด้วยความร้อนที่อุณหภูมิตั้งแต่ 350-700 องศาเซลเซียสในสภาวะที่ไร้อากาศหรือมีอากาศเพียงเล็กน้อย หรือที่เรียกว่า กระบวนการไพโรไลซิส (Wijitkosum & Jiwnok, 2019;Sriburi & Wijitkosum, 2016; Brassard et al., 2016; Liu et al. 2014; Lehmann & Joseph, 2009) ทั้งนี้ คุณภาพของถ่านชีวภาพ ขึ้นอยู่กับชนิดของวัตถุดิบ (feedstock) และกระบวนการผลิต (process/procedures) (Cao et al., 2017;Sriburi & Wijitkosum, 2016; Graber et al., 2014) โดยวัตถุดิบที่นำมาใช้ผลิตถ่านชีวภาพส่วนใหญ่เป็นสารประกอบอินทรีย์ (Wijitkosum & Kallayasiri, 2015; Yooyen et al., 2015; Qambrani et al., 2017) ซึ่งในการศึกษาวิจัยเป็นการเลือกใช้วัสดุเหลือใช้จากเกษตรกรรม เช่น แกลบ เศษไม้ และเหง้ามันสำปะหลัง เป็นต้น

ประเทศไทยมีการขยายตัวของปริมาณนักท่องเที่ยวและรายได้จากการท่องเที่ยวเพิ่มขึ้นทุกปี แตที่่น่าสนใจ คือ จำนวนแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่สามารถรองรับนักท่องเที่ยวมีจำนวนเท่าเดิมโดยเฉพาะแหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางธรรมชาติ ทำให้แหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางธรรมชาติที่สวยงามบางแห่งมีจำนวนนักท่องเที่ยวเข้าไปในพื้นที่มากจนเกินขีดความสามารถในการรองรับได้ ทำให้เกิดปัญหาความแออัดของนักท่องเที่ยวในพื้นที่ และปัญหาด้านต่าง ๆ ตามมามากมาย เช่น การบริหารจัดการด้านความปลอดภัยของนักท่องเที่ยว การใช้ประโยชน์ของทรัพยากรธรรมชาติ การทำ ลายความสวยงามและเอกลักษณ์ของธรรมชาติสาธารณูปโภคและสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกไม่เพียงพอ ส่งผลให้เกิดปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อม เช่น ขยะมูลฝอย น้ำเสีย มลพิษทางอากาศ มลพิษทางเสียง เป็นต้น ในขณะเดียวกันจำนวนนักท่องเที่ยวที่มากเกินขีดความสามารถของแหล่งท่องเที่ยวยังเป็นต้นเหตุของการเกิดความเสื่อมโทรมของแหล่งท่องเที่ยว และส่งผลกระทบต่อวิถีชีวิต คุณภาพชีวิต ความเป็นอยู่ของชุมชนท้องถิ่นในพื้นที่แหล่งท่องเที่ยวและพื้นที่ใกล้เคียง ตลอดจนส่งผลกระทบต่อทัศนคติและความพึงพอใจของนักท่องเที่ยวผู้มาเยี่ยมเยือน ซึ่งผลกระทบต่าง ๆ เหล่านี้จะนำไปสู่ความเสื่อมโทรมของทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อมภาพลักษณ์ด้านการท่องเที่ยวของแหล่งท่องเที่ยวนั้นๆ รวมทั้ง ภาพลักษณ์ของการท่องเที่ยวของประเทศด้วย

ประเทศไทยร่ำรวยด้วยทรัพยากรทางวัฒนธรรมอันหลากหลาย วัฒนธรรมไทยจึงเป็นที่สนใจแก่ชาวต่างชาติจนสร้างรายได้ให้แก่ประเทศผ่านอุตสาหกรรมท่องเที่ยวเพื่อเน้นย้ำจุดแข็งทางวัฒนธรรมอันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของไทย รัฐบาลได้ประกาศใช้ยุทธศาสตร์การส่งออกวัฒนธรรม เรียกว่า "5F" อันได้แก่ การส่งออกอาหาร(food) ศิลปะการต่อสู้ (fighting) แฟชั่น (fashion)เทศกาล (festival) และภาพยนตร์ (film) (กระทรวงวัฒนธรรม, 2559) โดยให้สื่อบันเทิงจำพวกภาพยนตรีและละครโทรทัศน์ทำหน้าที่เป็นช่องทางหนึ่งในการเผยแพร่วัฒนธรรมทั้ง 5หากมองเฉพาะในบริบทของละครโทรทัศน์ ผู้ผลิตของไทยได้ประสบความสำเร็จในระดับภูมิภาคมาแล้วอย่างมากมาย การศึกษาโดย อัมพร จิรัฐติกร (2562) บ่งชี้ว่าละครโทรทัศน์ไทยได้รับความนิยมในประเทศเพื่อนบ้านรวมไปถึงประเทศจีน เป็นระยะเวลาหลายปี นั่นแสดงว่าไทยมีศักยภาพจะเป็นมหาอำนาจด้านละครไม่ต่างจากผู้เล่นรายสำคัญของโลก กระนั้น หากต้องการให้ละครโทรทัศน์ไทยเผยแพร่ภาพลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมดังเป้าประสงค์ข้างต้นจำเป็นต้องมีการขบคิดไปอีกขั้นว่า ควรทำอย่างไรเพื่อให้ละครไทยสามารถประสบความสำเร็จในตลาดที่ใหญ่ขึ้นเหมือนในกรณีของสหรัฐอเมริกา ญี่ปุ่น และเกาหลีใต้การศึกษาวิจัยเบื้องต้นเผยว่า คุณภาพของละครโทรทัศน์ไทยยังเป็นอุปสรรคสำคัญสำหรับการส่งออก ขนาดใหญ่ เนื่องจากละครไทยไม่เป็นที่ยอมรับในตลาดสากลด้วยเหตุว่าความสร้างสรรค์ของผู้จัดละครติดกับดักโครงเรื่องและแก่นเรื่องที่ซ้ำซาก งานส่วนใหญ่ของไทยนำเสนอเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับการนอกใจ ประเด็นชู้สาว ความรุนแรงภาพนำเสนอบางอย่างบ่งบอกสภาพสังคมแบบชายเป็นใหญ่ หรือ มักกำหนดให้ตัวละครหญิงแสดงตนประหนึ่งวัตถุทางเพศ หรือ เป็นเหยื่อของความรุนแรงในขณะที่เนื้อเรื่องทั่วไปยังขาดค่านิยมเชิงวัฒนธรรมละครโทรทัศน์ไทยจึงยังไม่ใช่ผลิตภัณฑ์เพื่อการส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรมสำหรับตลาดสากลซึ่งมีแนวโน้มปฏิเสธเนื้องานลักษณะดังกล่าวเพื่อปรับเปลี่ยนสถานการณ์ คณะผู้วิจัยเล็งเห็นว่าจำเป็นที่จะต้องมีการถอดบทเรียนจากงานยอดนิยมของต่างประเทศ ทั้งนี้ เพื่อให้ได้แนวทางสำหรับพัฒนาเนื้อหาละครไทยซึ่งจะเปิดทางให้แก่การเผยแพร่วัฒนธรรมผ่านสื่อละครต่อไป ดังนั้น คณะผู้วิจัยจึงได้ศึกษาเทคนิคการสร้างสรรค์โดยเลือกมาจากกรณีศึกษาต่าง ๆ ไม่ต่ำกว่า100 กรณี คัดเฉพาะกรณีที่เผยแพร่ในช่วงคริสตทศวรรษที่ 2000-2010 และมีหลักฐานด้านความสำเร็จ การถอดบทเรียนอาศัยวิธีวิเคราะห์เนื้อหางานละครร่วมกับการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบระหว่างละครโทรทัศน์ของไทยและละครโทรทัศน์ต่างประเทศ ทั้งหมดช่วยให้คณะผู้วิจัยค้นพบเทคนิคสำคัญต่าง ๆ ที่เป็นประโยชน์แก่การผลิตในภาคอุตสาหกรรม

การนิยามคำว่าครอบครัวนั้นเป็นเรื่องที่น่าสนใจและมีความแตกต่างหลากหลาย ครอบครัวเป็นหน่วยที่เล็ก และเป็นหน่วยพื้นฐานของหน่วยต่าง ๆ ของมนุษยชาติ ปัจเจกบุคคลตีความคำว่าครอบครัว แตกต่างกันด้วยปัจจัยและมุมมองต่าง ๆ ทั้งมุมมองด้านสายเลือด ทางประเพณี ทางวัฒนธรรม อีกทั้งมุมมองในเชิงสัญลักษณ์ หรือเชิงเปรียบเปรย และเป็นการยากที่จะนิยามครอบครัว "ทั่ว ๆ ไป" อย่างไรก็ตามความหลากหลายทางรูปแบบของครอบครัวยังเพิ่มมากขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ ความก้าวหน้า ทางเทคโนโลยีช่วยการเจริญพันธุ์(Assisted Reproductive Technologies: ARTs) นั้นมีส่วนทำให้เกิดรูปแบบครอบครัวใหม่ ๆ โดยเฉพาะการทำให้พ่อแม่บางคนเลือกที่จะมีลูกโดยไม่ใช้วิธีทางธรรมชาติเลย พัฒนาการเหล่านี้ในทางวิทยาศาสตร์การเจริญพันธุ์เปลี่ยนแปลง และส่งผลต่อการตัดสินใจเรื่องการสร้างครอบครัว ซึ่งควรมีการพูดคุยถึงพัฒนาการเหล่านี้ในทุก ๆ ระดับ ทั้งในระดับนโยบายและระดับปัจเจก ซึ่งหมายรวมถึงเยาวชนด้วยเพราะเยาวชนเหล่านี้เป็นตัวแปรที่สำคัญว่าหน่วยครอบครัวของสังคมในภายภาคหน้านั้นจะเป็นอย่างไรการให้เยาวชนมีส่วนร่วมในบทสนทนาทางนโยบายสาธารณะที่เกี่ยวกับครอบครัวและเทคโนโลยีช่วยการเจริญพันธุ์จึงมีความจำเป็นและสำคัญบทความนี้กล่าวถึงมุมมองของเยาวชนไทยต่อเทคโนโลยีช่วยการเจริญพันธุ์ และอนาคตของคำว่าครอบครัว ในมิติด้านจริยธรรม กฎหมาย และสังคม (Ethical, Legal and Social Implications: ELSIs)โดยใช้กระบวนการสร้างการมีส่วนร่วม 3 ขั้นตอน
