Starting in 1769, the Spanish established missions in Alta California. A small band of soldiers, Franciscan priests and volunteers walked from Baja California to San Francisco Bay through semi-arid, scarcely populated land stopping occasionally to establish a location for a religious community. Usually two priests, a few soldiers and a few Indians from Baja California settled at the spot. Their only resources for starting an economy were themselves, a few animals and a nearby source of water. The majority of the American electorate is uninformed with regards to politics, and to compensate for their lack of knowledge, they take political cues from perceived experts. This study examines the impact of political cues from various sources, and considers how individuals analyze source credibility and framing. The study was conducted on Illinois Wesleyan University’s campus, via survey collection. Post data analysis, the surveys proved cues given by perceived experts were more compelling than non-perceived experts, and emotional cues were more compelling than rational cues. งานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่ออธิบายประสบการณ์การซื้ออาหารทางออนไลน์และเส้นทางการตัดสินใจซื้ออาหารจากร้านค้าออนไลน์ที่ไม่มีหน้าร้านของผู้บริโภคสตรีอายุ 20-39 ปี ด้วยวิธีการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกจำนวน 30 คน และการสนทนากลุ่ม 2 กลุ่ม กลุ่มละ 6 คน ผลการวิจัยที่สำคัญพบว่า ประสบการณ์ซื้ออาหารคาวพร้อมรับประทานผ่านทางออนไลน์ของผู้บริโภคสตรีมีทั้งความรู้สึกดีและไม่ดี แต่ยังคงซื้อต่อไป ซึ่งเกิดขึ้นจากสินค้า การจัดการและการบริการ ทั้งนี้มีการยอมรับและเข้าใจรูปแบบการบริการแบบนี้ สำหรับเส้นทางการตัดสินใจซื้ออาหารจากร้านค้าออนไลน์ที่ไม่มีหน้าร้านของผู้บริโภคสตรี เริ่มต้นเปิดการรับรู้เฉพาะที่ต้องการและตลอดเวลาผ่านช่องทางออนไลน์และออฟไลน์ ต่อมาใช้เกณฑ์พิจารณาเพื่อตัดสินใจซื้อ ได้แก่ ภาพลักษณ์หน้าร้านค้า สินค้า ความรู้สึกตัวเอง เมื่อสนใจร้านใดแต่อาจจะยังตัดสินใจไม่ได้ จะเริ่มสอบถามข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมจากร้านค้าและพูดคุยกับคนรอบตัว จากนั้นจะติดต่อร้านที่จะซื้อ หากได้รับการตอบรับที่รวดเร็วจากร้านค้า ได้คำตอบครบถ้วนในสิ่งที่ต้องการรู้ หรือมีความพึงพอใจในค่าส่ง จะตัดสินใจซื้อทันที หลังจากนั้นจะประเมินสินค้าอาหารที่ได้รับ การบริการและการจัดการของร้านค้า หากเกิดความประทับใจจะส่งต่อความรู้สึกที่ดีผ่านออนไลน์ บอกเล่าให้คนรอบตัวทางออฟไลน์ ในทางกลับกันหากไม่ประทับใจจะโพสต์ทางออนไลน์ บอกเล่าทางออฟไลน์เช่นกัน ข้อความสนับสนุนและข้อความด้านลบ จะเป็นข้อมูลบนเส้นทางการตัดสินใจซื้อของผู้บริโภคสตรีรายอื่นในช่วงสอบถามข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมก่อนตัดสินใจซื้อ โดยสรุปประสบการณ์ที่ดีในการซื้ออาหารทางออนไลน์มีความเกี่ยวข้องทุกขั้นตอนของเส้นทางการตัดสินใจซื้ออาหารทางออนไลน์ที่ไม่มีหน้าร้าน สำหรับประสบการณ์ที่ไม่ดีเกี่ยวข้องเพียงเฉพาะขั้นตอนการประเมินและการบอกต่อในด้านลบเท่านั้น

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ มุ่งศึกษาถึงการเปรียบเทียบความแตกต่างของจุดประสงค์การเรียกร้องระหว่างกลุ่มสมาคมชาวเกาหลีเพื่อผู้หญิงที่ถูกใช้บำเรอทหารญี่ปุ่น กับ รัฐบาลเกาหลีใต้ ต่อกรณีหญิงบำเรอทหารญี่ปุ่น ในช่วงสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 ภายใต้การเรียกร้องเพื่อสิทธิสตรี โดยศึกษาวัตถุประสงค์ในการเรียกร้องของกลุ่มสมาคมชาวเกาหลี ซึ่งศึกษาจากพลวัตการรวมตัวของกลุ่มเรียกร้องและข้อเรียกร้องที่ทางกลุ่มต้องต่อรองกับรัฐบาลญี่ปุ่นหรือแม้แต่กับรัฐบาลเกาหลีใต้เอง เพื่อวิเคราะห์วัตถุประสงค์ของกลุ่มในการเรียกร้องในประเด็นหญิงบำเรอ โดยทำการศึกษาเปรียบเทียบกับวัตถุประสงค์ในการเรียกร้องในประเด็นหญิงบำเรอของรัฐบาลเกาหลีใต้ ซึ่งถูกใช้เป็นเครื่องมือเพื่อผลประโยชน์แห่งรัฐ โดยพบว่ารัฐได้ใช้การเรียกร้องทางสตรีนิยมมาเพื่อสร้างความน่าเชื่อถือรวมถึงเป็นการเรียกคะแนนนิยมแก่พรรคการเมือง และยังมีการยกประเด็นหญิงบำเรอมาเพื่อยุติความขัดแย้งระหว่างกับญี่ปุ่นด้วย

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการส่งเสริมการจัดทำงบประมาณ โดยคำนึงถึงมิติหญิงชาย (Gender Responsive Budgeting : GRB) ของสำนักงบประมาณ ซึ่งเป็นหน่วยงานที่มีภารกิจในการจัดทำงบประมาณของประเทศไทย ในการศึกษาวิจัย ใช้วิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยศึกษาข้อมูลจากเอกสารงบประมาณ การสัมภาษณ์บุคลากรจากกรมกิจการสตรีและสถาบันครอบครัว กระทรวงการพัฒนาสังคมและความมั่นคงของมนุษย์ และการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกกับข้าราชการสำนักงบประมาณตั้งแต่ระดับปฏิบัติการไปจนถึงระดับอำนวยการสูง จำนวน 11 คน ประกอบด้วยบุคลากรที่เกี่ยวข้องในกระบวนการจัดทำงบประมาณ 3 ด้าน คือ ด้านการวางแผนงบประมาณ ด้านการจัดทำงบประมาณ และด้านการติดตามและประเมินผลผลการวิจัยพบว่า สำนักงบประมาณได้รับการผลักดันเชิงนโยบายในการส่งเสริมการจัดทำงบประมาณโดยคำนึงถึงมิติหญิงชาย โดยอยู่ระหว่างการพัฒนาความร่วมมือระหว่างกรมกิจการสตรีและสถาบันครอบครัว สำนักงบประมาณ และสำนักงานสภาพัฒนาการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งชาติ ในการร่วมกันปรับปรุงแนวทางการจัดทำงบประมาณที่คำนึงถึงมิติหญิงชาย และข้อมูลจำแนกเพศ สำหรับผลการวิจัยด้านทัศนคติพบว่า ข้าราชการสำนักงบประมาณมีทัศนคติเกี่ยวกับความเสมอภาคตามแนวคิดเสรีนิยม (Liberalism) ที่มองว่าหญิงและชายต่างสามารถแข่งขันกันเพื่อความสำเร็จทางสังคม ซึ่งมีความแตกต่างจากแนวคิดความเสมอภาคในการจัดทำงบประมาณโดยคำนึงถึงมิติหญิงชาย ที่เน้นการสร้างโอกาสให้กับผู้ด้อยโอกาสในมิติเพศภาวะ ดังนั้นผู้วิจัยจึงเสนอแนวทางการส่งเสริมการจัดทำงบประมาณโดยคำนึงถึงมิติหญิงชายของสำนักงบประมาณโดยดำเนินโครงการนำร่องที่นำแนวคิด GRB มาใช้ในการจัดทำงบประมาณ

This thesis examines how global and local governance has combined to deliver effective and sustainable public transportation in cities by comparing Bogotá’s bus rapid transit (BRT) system, TransMilenio, with Medellín’s mass transit system, STIMVA, often referred to as Metro de Medellín. After considering the rationales used to justify local and global authority over climate change, this analysis problematizes the supposed benefits of empowering global and local actors by highlighting the conflicts of interest that plague the elites who mediate the global and the local. Foreign direct investment (FDI) statistics are widely used to study the impact of international capital movements and multinational enterprise (MNE) activities. FDI-intensity is also an important indicator of globalisation and economic integration. Datasets spanning long time periods and with broad country coverage have been employed in numerous studies to analyse various aspects of the determinants and consequences of FDI. Focusing on a relatively homogeneous group of six Western European EU countries, the present study finds major inconsistencies in the construction and coverage of these data both through time and across countries, leading to large discrepancies. Objectives: We explored how relations among juror gender, confession evidence, and empathy impacted verdicts for a juvenile defendant accused of a serious crime. Methods: Jury-eligible women and men (N = 128) participated in a mock trial involving a girl defendant who had either maintained her innocence, confessed voluntarily, or confessed under coercion. Participants reviewed case materials, received juror instructions, and reported their verdict and empathy for the girl defendant. A manipulation check ensured participants attended to details surrounding the confession and participants were grouped by whether they perceived the confession as voluntary or coerced. Established delivery companies and new startups are investing in technologies that reduce delivery times and/or increase delivery drivers’ productivity. In this context, the adoption of Sidewalk Automated (or Autonomous) Delivery Robots (SADRs) has a growing appeal. SADRs are pedestrian sized robots that deliver items to customers without the intervention of a delivery person. Debates over the effect of trade openness on inequality across regions in a country have been arising. Mainly apply on developing countries, such as Indonesia, trade openness affect different level of development across regions. This study is aimed at determining the effect of trade openness on inequality within provinces in Indonesia. A panel data analysis of 33 Indonesian provinces in the period of 2006–2015 has showed that trade openness has no significant effect on regional inequality.

Approximately 22% of HIV diagnoses in 2015 occurred among youth aged 13–24. Much is known about the risk factors and psychopathology present in youth living with HIV (YLWH), however, relatively little is known about resiliency in this population. The current study sought to assess factors related to resilience and vulnerability among YLWH as well as the impact of psychosocial factors on these constructs using existing clinical data from an integrated care clinic serving YLWH in the southeastern United States. Why do women protest? Why do women protest “as women”? Why do some women participate in protests but not others? In the wake of the Women’s March of 2017, perhaps the largest single day protest event in history, these questions are particularly timely and deserve scholarly attention. One important but understudied and undertheorized motivation for women’s protests is state sanctioned violence, particularly repression. This dissertation explicitly theorizes about how state perpetration of violence, particularly state use of repression, both motivates and shapes women’s protests on a global scale.

In this dissertation, I investigate two key questions: 1) What are the specific conditions under which economic inequality undermines democratic legitimacy; and 2) How does inequality map onto individuals’ perceptions of fairness and subsequently affect satisfaction with democracy and trust in political institutions? I first argue that individuals’ perceptions of distributive unfairness are key factors whereby economic inequality undermines democratic legitimacy. Inequality - and subsequent perceptions that the economic distribution is unfair - undermine political support by signaling that the democratic process is not functioning properly and by challenging people’s normative expectations about what democracy should do in practice.

The central theory guiding my research is that interstate conflict, at least as covered in mass media, leaves residual cultural attitudes that can shape the political context in which elites formulate policy. Specifically, U.S. interventionism in the Middle East has given rise to fundamental hostilities, founded on misguided biases, that shape involvement in the region today. I focus on one step within that broader theory, to test it empirically: the hypothesis that anti-Muslim stereotypes, when activated, will shape an individual’s foreign-policy preferences. A scientometric study has been conducted on the literature published on osteoporosis in children during the year 1950-2018. From the total literature 4837, it was found that during 2011-15, the maximum (855, 17.69%) of literatures were published and the minimum 7(0.145%) during 1950-55. The study has been done for authorship pattern and they are ranked. Journals are also ranked as per the number of articles published. Survey respondents were asked to rate the economic conditions in Hampton Roads today. The percentage of respondents who feel the economy is doing ‘excellent’ remains fairly steady at 6.6 percent (7.4% in 2018). On the other hand, the percent rating the economy as poor since 2015 has been on the rise, increasing from 6.8% to 10.9%. There is a relatively even split this year when combining responses for “excellent/good” (49.9%) and “fair/poor” (48.4%).

The overall quality of life in Hampton Roads has remained steady. The 2019 Life in Hampton Roads (LIHR) survey continues to show a generally good regional quality of life, though there has been a very slow decline over the past couple of years. The majority of those interviewed (68.2%) reported that the overall quality of life in Hampton Roads is excellent or good, while 31.3 percent found it to be fair or poor. The portion of respondents rating regional quality of life as good or excellent is slightly lower than last year’s portion (70.1%).
