This best practices document is intended to assist catalogers in creating bibliographic records for objects, which RDA refers to as three dimensional forms, according to RDA instructions. This document provides guidance for the most common object situations encountered in libraries. Each section includes examples that reflect the RDA instructions. A list of resources and a selection of full MARC record examples illustrating common situations encountered in cataloging objects (of various types) completes the document. The Objects Task Force especially worked on the examples to provide a variety of materials that fall bibliographically under Objects. The Task Force found at least …
The Dog That Barks: Understanding Propaganda Campaigns On Territorial Disputes, Frances Yaping Wang
The Dog That Barks: Understanding Propaganda Campaigns On Territorial Disputes, Frances Yaping Wang
Research Collection School of Social Sciences
Why do authoritarian states promote media coverage of foreign disputes in some contexts, but censor coverage in others? The use of media on matters of foreign policy is prevalent in both autocracies and democracies, yet their functions, especially in autocracies, are not well understood. This dissertation seeks to explain a statecraft autocratic leaders are especially adept at and are commonly engaged in – propaganda campaigns on territorial disputes. This project thus provides a window into the domestic constraints and motivations of authoritarian foreign policy and the resulting statecraft in managing its domestic publics on foreign policy issues. In explaining the …

Public Accountability In Regulatory Governance, Christine Mae D. Hernando,
Public Accountability In Regulatory Governance, Christine Mae D. Hernando,
Journal of Public Affairs and Development
Assessing public accountability to improve public service delivery, local governance, and development has been an increasing global concern. The discourse and practice of accountability has been integrated in many disciplines such as public administration, political science, organizational development, and environmental management. But while some studies focus on accountability assessment in specific areas of public management and related concerns, the current academic literature of accountability reveals the paucity of studies on accountability assessment models in regulatory governance. This paper presents a review of relevant literature on public accountability, regulation and regulatory governance; issues and concerns affecting regulatory governance; and assessment perspectives …

A Symbolic Participation Of The Local Community In The Implementation Of A Proper-Based Corporate Social Responsibility (Csr) Program, Yosef Hillarius Timu Pera, Yusup Ridwansyah
Masyarakat: Jurnal Sosiologi
CSR practices continue to grow as a promising alternative development resource, yet still predominantly charitable in nature, preventing them from optimal community empowerment. Therefore, studies and policies at the national and global levels remain in search of the best format to optimize CSR programs’ role in community empowerment. A number of literature show less than optimal active participation and capacity-building of the community if a program is initiated by a directive, top-down approach, providing only a minimal participatory space based on the community’s potentials. Using qualitative method and in-depth interview techniques, this paper finds that the local community participation in …

In the Philippines, public wet markets are an integral part of the country’s history, culture, and economy. Self-Compassion As A Protective Factor Against Minority Stress For Lgbt Individuals, Morgan Christine Bowlen
Graduate Student Theses, Dissertations, & Professional Papers
Objectives: Research has found that anxiety, mood, and substance use disorders are more prevalent in LGBT individuals than heterosexual individuals (Fergusson, Horwood, & Beautrais, 1999). An explanation for these differences has been put forward by Meyer (2003), the Minority Stress Model, which is a theoretical framework that proposes that individuals who occupy a stigmatized minority status, such as LGBT individuals, may experience increased stress on the basis of stigmatization associated with this status. Results from multiple studies support the relationship between mindfulness and coping skills, life satisfaction, and positive health outcomes for LGBT individuals (Crews & Crawford, 2015; Gayner …

Remote Sensing Approaches To Predict Forest Characteristics In Northwest Montana, Ryan P. Rock
Graduate Student Theses, Dissertations, & Professional Papers
Remote sensing can be utilized by land management organizations to save money and time. Mapping vegetation using either aerial photographs or satellite imagery and the applications for forest management are of particular interest to the Montana Department of Natural Resources. In 2018, the organization began a pilot program to test the incorporation of raster analysis of remotely sensed data into their inventory program and had limited success. This analysis identified two areas of improvement: the selection method of inventory plots and the imagery used for classification and metrics. This study found that selecting inventory plots using a generalized random tessellation …

The decrease of customs clearance time is a form of reform and modernization of customs, through the policy of red line reduction. With a short customs clearance time, the velocity of goods in ports and airports become faster so as to support the smooth flow of national logistics. Smooth flow of goods will support the trade, which ultimately government revenue from import duties will be affected. This study aims to find the effect of the policy on the government revenue. The study used the data of 35 periods before and after the red line reduction policy was taken. The result …

Reproducing Inequality Under Title Ix, Deborah L. Brake, Joanna L. Grossman

This article elaborates on and critiques the law’s separation of pregnancy, with rights grounded in sex equality under Title IX, from reproductive control, which the law treats as a matter of privacy, a species of liberty under the due process clause. While pregnancy is the subject of Title IX protection, reproductive control is parceled off into a separate legal framework grounded in privacy, rather than recognized as a matter that directly implicates educational equality. The law’s division between educational equality and liberty in two non-intersecting sets of legal rights has done no favors to the reproductive rights movement either. By …
