Autocracy And Democracy: A Study In The Democracy Phenomenon In The Light Of The Failure Of “The Arab Spring”: Israel As The Case Study, Najeh Shaheen

Journal of the Arab American University مجلة الجامعة العربية الامريكية للبحوث

This research investigates democracy in the light of the failure of the wave of democratization that Arab countries were supposed to witness. It has become evident that democracy is not a compulsory path for all nations towards "progress" and modernity. This led us to develop the idea of democracy by proposing a theory to explain democracy and autocracy; we argue that there are three forms of social / political exploitation related to the success of democratization:

1. An opaque exploitation manifested in "advanced" industrial capitalism in the “western” countries where the public think that their welfare is their individual affair …

Digital Forensics: Crimes And Challenges In Online Social Networks Forensics, Bandr Fakiha

Journal of the Arab American University مجلة الجامعة العربية الامريكية للبحوث

The growth in online social networks (OSNs) has opened up communication and interaction between people and businesses across the globe. This open communication has improved international trade, but it has simultaneously created a channel for perpetrating cybercrimes such as cyberbullying and harassment, cyberstalking, slander spreading, copyright infringement and identity theft, and cyber-extremism. Despite the many cybercrimes on OSNs, challenges exist in investigating and prosecuting criminals behind these crimes. The perpetrators of these crimes use sophisticated anti-forensic techniques, legal challenges, and resource-based challenges to prevent prosecution. Scented Colours: Artistic Interest In The Crossmodal Connection Between Colour And Odour, Charles Spence Nov 2020

Scented Colours: Artistic Interest In The Crossmodal Connection Between Colour And Odour, Charles Spence

Baltic International Yearbook of Cognition, Logic and Communication

Artists have long been interested in the crossmodal links that exist between colour and scent. While traditionally envisioned as a kind of synaesthesia, contemporary accounts of the connections between this particular pair of senses have typically focused on explanations in terms of involuntarily-induced crossmodal mental imagery and crossmodal correspondences instead. A large body of empirical research now supports the view that the majority of non-synaesthetic individuals do indeed systematically match colours to odours, via semantic (or source-object based) matching, and/or on the basis of emotional-mediation or perceptual similarity. Universal agreement with regard to the best- matching colours for odours is, …

We develop a publicly available plan equity evaluation tool to investigate to what extent and in what ways local governments include goals and recommendations that would advance equitable outcomes in their comprehensive plans. Using plan content analysis, we find that most plans do not talk about equity, nor do they include many goals and recommendations that would advance equity. More recent plans, plans in communities with more planning capacity, plans in …
