Evaluating Video Modeling To Teach A Block Schedule Trial-Based Functional Analysis, Alyssa N. Zak Mar 2021

Evaluating Video Modeling To Teach A Block Schedule Trial-Based Functional Analysis, Alyssa N. Zak

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Functional analyses (FAs) are considered the gold standard for determining the function of behavior. However, behavior analysts have cited several perceived barriers that hinder the use of FAs, particularly a lack of time, dedicated space, and trained staff to conduct the analysis. Analyses such as the trial-based FA have been adapted from the traditional session-based FA in order to overcome some of these barriers. The block schedule trial-based FA (Gonzalez, 2018) has had one of the highest correspondence rates between the trial-based and the session-based FA to date. Research from past studies suggest that video modeling is an effective way …

Working Paper No. 51, On Dugger And Corporate Hegemony, Daniela M. Ávila Arévalo Mar 2021

Working Paper No. 51, On Dugger And Corporate Hegemony, Daniela M. Ávila Arévalo

Working Papers in Economics

This inquiry seeks to establish that in his writings, William Dugger offers insights into the phenomenon of subreption in his effort to clarify the emergence of corporate hegemony. Focusing upon the changing organizational structure taking place within U.S. corporations, especially in the second half of the 20th century, Dugger emphasizes how the corporation’s rise to dominance diminishes the influences from other institutions—thereby undermining pluralism. Corporate hegemony emerges through invaluation processes that Dugger identifies, resulting in the positioning of the corporation as the dominant institution in economy and society. Through processes associated with subreption there takes place the internalization of corporate …

Automated Cyber Ranges: Design Features, Architectures, Scenarios And Impacts, Dezhang Wen

Undergraduate Honors Theses

As cybersecurity becomes increasingly important in the digital world, the need for a virtual environment where security professionals can safely practice defending against real-life attacks is gradually rising. This thesis explores, participates in, and expands upon the design and implementation of such an environment, also known as a “cyber range”. We build a model where real-life attacks and defense can be successfully simulated, as well as further improving the process through automation. Ultimately, it proposes and experiments with the idea of an automated cyber range in order to enhance both the efficiency and effectiveness of a security testbed.

"To Hold The World Together": A Uinta Basin Homesteading History, 1905-1930, Casey Mcclellan Mar 2021

"To Hold The World Together": A Uinta Basin Homesteading History, 1905-1930, Casey Mcclellan

Undergraduate Honors Theses

The Uinta Basin’s history differs from much of Utah. Its early explorer report as a “wasteland” meant Mormon settlers avoided the area, which made an expedient decision to put the land aside as the Uinta-Ouray Ute Indian Reservation. Native peoples were forced to the undesirable desert in the mid-1860s. In 1905, the United States Government opened the Reservation for White homesteading. Homesteading was difficult, and countless anecdotes show the difficulties—many settlers moved away, “selling out” (giving up on their homesteads and selling to another homesteader) their newly-acquired land and returning to greener pastures. There have been few academic studies related …

The Bluff River Trail: A Community Land Ethic, Kelly F. Davis

Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies ETDs

The Bluff River Trail (BRT) is a future 10+ mile trail along the San Juan River corridor in the 4-Corners region of the Southwestern United States. By asking, what is the land ethic of the Bluff Community? this qualitative study identifies behaviors and beliefs, or land ethics, between seven Bluff residents and the San Juan River corridor. A land ethic contributes to the social re/production of space; therefore, third space theory contextualizes intersecting and contradicting spatialities evidenced in data. Data collection consisted of semi-structured interviews, questionnaires and focus groups. I used a qualitative content analysis pulling from grounded theory to …

Teams In Small Organizations: Conceptual, Methodological, And Practical Considerations, Roni Reiter-Palmon, Victoria Kennel, Joseph A. Allen

Psychology Faculty Publications

Research on teams and teamwork has flourished in the last few decades. Much of what we know about teams and teamwork comes from research using short-term student teams in the lab, teams in larger organizations, and, more recently, teams in rather unique and extreme environments. The context in which teams operate influences team composition, processes, and effectiveness. Small organizations are an understudied and often overlooked context that presents a rich opportunity to augment our understanding of teams and team dynamics. In this paper, we discuss how teams and multi-team systems in small organizations may differ from those found in larger …

An Evaluation Of Video Modeling And Video Modeling With Video Feedback To Enhance The Performance Of Competitive Soccer Goalkeepers, Alexandra Martina Capalbo

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Several studies have evaluated the effects of consequent and antecedent procedures on athletic performance, including video modeling plus video feedback (VM+VF) as a treatment package. Although the effects of the VF consequent component have been well researched, relatively scant literature exists assessing the effectiveness of the VM component as an antecedent strategy. Additionally, these interventions have not been studied to improve goalkeeping skills of soccer players. Therefore, this study used a multiple baseline across behaviors to compare the effects of VM to the VM+VF to train goalkeeper skills to soccer players. Task analyses were established for three goal keeping skills …

Preference For Social Stimuli: A Comparison Of Stimulus Modes Used In Preference Assessments, Shannon Wilson Mar 2021

Preference For Social Stimuli: A Comparison Of Stimulus Modes Used In Preference Assessments, Shannon Wilson

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Social stimuli are some of the most commonly used reinforcers in clinical programming(Graff & Karsten, 2012) and previous research shows that preference for social stimuli can be identified using variations of a paired stimulus preference assessment (PSPA; Fisher et al., 1992). Previous studies evaluating preference for social stimuli have employed video stimuli (Wolfe et al., 2018), pictures of the actual social stimuli (Kelly et al., 2014), and pictures of arbitrary shapes (Morris & Vollmer, 2019). To date, no study has evaluated the correspondence in preference for social stimuli across these three stimulus modes. Therefore, the purposes of this study were …

Study one assessed how political affiliation (dis)similarity between a rater and a fictitious job applicant affected perceptions of applicant hireability through the potential mediators of applicant liking and applicant …

Endangered Species Of The Physical Cultural Landscape: Globalization, Nationalism, And Safeguarding Traditional Folk Games, Thomas Fabian

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

Folk sports are the countertype of modern sports: invented traditions, bolstered by tangible ritual and intangible myth, played by the common folk in order to express a romantic ethnic identity. Like other cultural forms, traditional sports and games around the world are becoming marginalized in the face of modernization and globalization. In 2003, UNESCO ratified the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in an attempt to counter such trends of cultural homogenization. As elements of intangible cultural heritage, folk sports now fall under the auspices of UNESCO safeguarding policies. As such, the objective of this …

We focus on obtaining a better understanding of the extent of censorship practices within information institutions and the effects of restricted access to information on both individuals and communities. This article draws on several theoretical frameworks including regulative and constitutive censorship, information poverty, access as a human right, and the importance of individual autonomy. This research provides a more solid foundation for librarians and other information professionals …

Welcome Address, Paul H. Benson Mar 2021

Welcome Address, Paul H. Benson

Proceedings: 2021 Global Voices on the University of Dayton Campus

We are on a journey as a university to make progress toward genuine inclusion, toward equity in the life of our campus, toward the building of a more welcoming and just educational, intellectual, and residential community that realizes more substantively the guiding values of the Society of Mary, which founded and sponsors the University. This journey is fraught with peril and risk. It is painful; it entails hurt; it will provoke misunderstanding; it will invite resistance; it supplies ample reason for skepticism and distrust. But this journey is what our mission as a university requires of us. The steps in …
