See You On Tv: A Phenomenology Of Careers On Extension Television In Oklahoma, Austin R. Moore, Erica Irlbeck
Journal of Applied Communications
Extension specialists are under increasing pressure to interact with audiences through emerging digital media including video. In an effort to understand how such interactions affect the careers of engaged specialists, this study seeks to explore the career effects on Extension subject-matter specialists that resulted from long-term, regular participation in an Extension television effort. Using Cultivation theory and source credibility as a lens, a qualitative phenomenology was conducted by interviewing individuals who have contributed to one such program on a weekly or bi-weekly program for multiple decades. Participants reported improved career effectiveness via increased credibility in face to face communications as …

Journal of Applied Communications
In order to stay relevant in an online world, Extension must properly use social networking platforms to effectively reach diverse audiences regarding agricultural and natural resource issues. However, few studies have focused on how Extension uses Facebook to effectively accomplish its goal. This study’s purpose was to explore how Utah State University Extension Sustainability uses Facebook to engage followers. The researchers conducted a quantitative content analysis of 504 messages posted to the USU Extension Sustainability Facebook page. Graphics and links were the most common post characteristics used by the organization. Text-only posts and posts containing videos were utilized the least. …

No Science In Politics: A Qualitative Content Analysis Of Industrial Hemp Production In Florida Newspapers, Kevin W. Kent, Jarred A. Shellhouse, Angela B. Lindsey, Lisa K. Lundy
Journal of Applied Communications
This study examined how Florida newspapers framed the topic of industrial hemp production before and after the 2019 state legislative session. A total of 34 articles from the state’s largest newspapers were reviewed using qualitative content analysis to discover what frames were used, what scientific sources were cited, and what opinion leaders were quoted in the discussion of industrial hemp production. The analysis revealed the most frequently used frames within the study’s timeframe focused on politics or economic potential. Only one article cited science-based information. A majority of quotes were from political leaders and policy makers. Future research should be …

Fingering Behavior Of Flame Spread Over Solid Combustibles, Tsuneyoshi Matsuoka, Kentaro Nakashima, Takuma Kajimoto, Akihiro Yoshimasa, Yuji Nakamura
Progress in Scale Modeling, an International Journal
In this study, the fingering pattern formation and the following flamelet spreading over three different kinds of thick combustibles, i.e., Poly methacrylate (PMMA), Poly ethylene (PE) and Poly carbonate (PC) were observed and the effective Lewis number correlation was validated. Experiments were performed with a narrow channel apparatus. In addition to the kinds of solid fuel materials, the channel height and the oxidizer velocity were varied as experimental parameters. An image analysis method was developed to quantify the number, diameter and spread rate of the flamelets. Replacing the fuel thickness into the thermal thickness, the effective Lewis number which is …

Use Of Ecomaps In Qualitative Health Research, Veena Manja, Ananya Nrusimha, Harriet Macmillan, Lisa Schwartz Dr, Susan Jack
Use Of Ecomaps In Qualitative Health Research, Veena Manja, Ananya Nrusimha, Harriet Macmillan, Lisa Schwartz Dr, Susan Jack
The Qualitative Report
Qualitative health research plays a central role in exploring individuals’ experiences and perceptions of wellness, illness, and healthcare services. Visual tools are increasingly used for data elicitation. An ecomap is a visual tool that applies ecosystems theory to human communities and relationships to provide an illustration of the quality of relationships. We describe the use of ecomaps in qualitative health research. Searches across eight databases identified 407 citations. We screened them in duplicate to identify 129 publications that underwent full text review and included 73 in the final synthesis. We classified and summarized data based on iterative comparisons across sources. …
Exploring The Program-Site Alliance: Building Partnerships Between Counseling Programs And Fieldwork Sites, Tamara Tribitt, Steven J. Moody
Exploring The Program-Site Alliance: Building Partnerships Between Counseling Programs And Fieldwork Sites, Tamara Tribitt, Steven J. Moody
The Qualitative Report
Practicum and internship experiences are critical in students’ professional development in counselor education programs, and the dynamics that occur between programs and field sites can impact these experiences. A program-site alliance is a measure of how well these entities work together. Using Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis, the authors interviewed five site supervisors and found five themes (Site Supervisor Role, Communication Within the Program-Site Alliance, Independent Mutualism, Regulated Support, and Inconsistency Between Program-Site Alliance) capturing the essence of the program-site relationship. The authors explore implications for practice and future research.

This is very important considering that their daily lives are inseparable from gadgets, especially for Z generation children. The generation born in the early 2000s, namely the Z-generation, is a generation born at a time when technology is so rapidly developing and the beginning of the emergence and development of social media the passion of all generations. Psychologically, this condition makes this Z-generation to have its own personality, psyche and character which is different from previous generations who do not have the postmodern environment setting. Exploring Lenses Used In Case Study Research In Literacy Over Time, Diane Barone
Exploring Lenses Used In Case Study Research In Literacy Over Time, Diane Barone
The Qualitative Report
This study is a case study analysis where book length case studies were aggregated for review. The review focused on the lenses that researchers used to analyze their data. The results indicated most case studies used a neutral lens where careful description of a literacy event was the goal. A few researchers moved to a critical lens of positioning theory to describe their results. Historical shifts and issues were shared that included a focus on participants and lenses and views of teachers.
Intermittent Catheter Reimbursement In The United States: The Experience Of Nine Stakeholders Through The Lens Of Actor-Network Theory, Manon M. Schladen, Amanda K. Rounds, Terrence Mcmanus, Alexandra Bennewith, Henry Claypool, Suzanne L. Groah
Intermittent Catheter Reimbursement In The United States: The Experience Of Nine Stakeholders Through The Lens Of Actor-Network Theory, Manon M. Schladen, Amanda K. Rounds, Terrence Mcmanus, Alexandra Bennewith, Henry Claypool, Suzanne L. Groah
The Qualitative Report
A narrow interpretation of “medical necessity” can result in poorer health as well as a more restricted life for people with disabilities. We examined the impact of US policy on reimbursement of intermittent catheters (ICs) on the lives of people with neurogenic bladder (NB) who require catheters to urinate. We conducted in-depth, longitudinal interviews with nine stakeholders. Actor-Network Theory was used to describe interactions among human agents, IC products, and policies in the reimbursement arena. Restrictions on the type and quantities of ICs reimbursed emerged as the most potent inhibitor to health and wellbeing among consumers with NB. IC suppliers, …
