A country's progress in all aspects like economic, educational, medical, defense, living standards of citizens is possible only through research and the platform for quality research is a university. The generation of knowledge and its transmission has been a requirement for long term progress of a university which is having a direct impact on a nation's development. Universities through research make the highest contribution to a nation's industrial and business growth than any other academic institutions. Library Science evolving as an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary field applying the practices, perspectives, and tools of management, information technology, education, in two …

The recent years have witnessed an upsurge in the number of published documents. Organizations are showing an increased interest in text classification for effective use of the information. Manual procedures for text classification can be fruitful for a handful of documents, but the same lack in credibility when the number of documents increases besides being laborious and time-consuming. Text mining techniques facilitate assigning text strings to categories rendering the process of classification fast, accurate, and hence reliable. This paper classifies chemistry documents using machine learning and statistical methods. The procedure of text classification has been described in chronological order like …

The collection, processing, and analysis of remote sensing data since the early 1970s has rapidly improved our understanding of change on the Earth’s surface. While satellite-based Earth observation has proven to be of vast scientific value, these data are typically confined to recent decades of observation and often lack important thematic detail. Here, we advance in this arena by constructing new spatially explicit settlement data for the United States that extend back to the early 19th century and are consistently enumerated at fine spatial and temporal granularity (i.e. 250m spatial and 5-year temporal resolution). We create these time series using …

Growth mindset is an important aspect of children's socioemotional development and is subject to change due to environmental influence. Orchestral music education may function as a fertile context in which to promote growth mindset; however, this education is not widely available to children facing economic hardship. This study examined whether participation in a program of orchestral music education was associated with higher levels of overall growth mindset and greater change in levels of musical growth mindset among children placed at risk by poverty. After at least 2 years of orchestral participation, students reported significantly higher levels of overall growth mindset …

Chronic adolescent exposure to Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is linked to elevated neuropsychiatric risk and induces neuronal, molecular and behavioral abnormalities resembling neuropsychiatric endophenotypes. Previous evidence has revealed that the mesocorticolimbic circuitry, including the prefrontal cortex (PFC) and mesolimbic dopamine (DA) pathway are particularly susceptible to THC-induced pathologic alterations, including dysregulation of DAergic activity states, loss of PFC GABAergic inhibitory control and affective and cognitive abnormalities. There are currently limited pharmacological intervention strategies capable of preventing THC-induced neuropathological adaptations. L-Theanine is an amino acid analog of L-glutamate and L-glutamine derived from various plant sources, including green tea leaves. L-Theanine has previously been …

Coming Together While Standing Apart Encouraging Community Ownership During The Isolating Days Of A Pandemic, Cora Scott
eJournal of Public Affairs
Because of the pandemic, the future feels difficult and uncertain, and few of us have much control over it, beyond doing our best to keep ourselves informed and those around us safe. The result is a lot of unhappy people. Gallup survey data show that pessimism about the future of the pandemic in the U.S. is rising. This is infecting our general outlook. This article explains on how one local government and health department successfully communicated during the pandemic and even increased community engagement. This was done through encouraging a sense of community ownership.

Since taking his oath of office on January 20, 2021, President Biden has quickly taken steps toward fulfilling his promise to make combating climate change a key policy priority for his administration. This agenda marks a dramatic change from the actions of the Trump administration, which systematically rolled back over one hundred environmental protections and regulations. One of the first steps President Biden took was to begin the process of rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, an international commitment to roll back carbon emissions. President Trump began the process of withdrawing the United States from the agreement in 2017. The central …

owners concluded a conference call regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. They believed that Commissioner Adam Silver would soon announce that games would proceed in empty arenas. While European soccer leagues had canceled matches, just the day before the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) had taken the more tepid step of announcing that the March Madness tournaments would be played without fans in the stands. There were only about a thousand confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United States at that time, and the NBA owners were divided on how to proceed. According to Ramona Shelburne’s (2020) reporting for ESPN, the respective …
Union Commitment And Participation, Tara Myers, Megan Paul
Union Commitment And Participation, Tara Myers, Megan Paul
Umbrella Summaries
What are union commitment and participation?
Union commitment refers to the extent to which employees are dedicated to their union (Cooper-Hakim & Viswesvaran, 2005; Gordon, Philpot, Burt, Thompson, & Spiller, 1980). Union participation is active involvement in the union such as attending meetings, serving on committees, holding office, campaigning, voting, assisting with contracts and negotiations, managing union funds, and filing grievances (Anderson, 1979). Many researchers consider union participation as part of union commitment (e.g., Gordon et al., 1980). Others have speculated that union participation is a consequence of union commitment (e.g., Parks, Gallagher, & Fullagar, 1995). Additional ways to conceptualize …

Influence Of Information Behaviour On Substance Use Of Undergraduates In Universities In Ogun State, Nigeria, Ruth Owolabi, Chinyere Nkechi Ikonne Dr., Adebowale Ifeoluwa Ojo Dr.
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Substance use in universities in Nigeria continue to thrive despite the government and non-government effort to create awareness on the risks involved in the use of substance. This could be attributed to the inability to identify relevant information, inability to use to information appropriately to control the use of substances and the inability to determine the risks and health implication of substance use on academic performance. Empirical work exists to support health risks of substance use among undergraduates but it is not apparent that a study in Ogun State, Nigeria has addressed the influence of information behaviour and substance use. …

Abstract
Quality healthcare delivery is imperative for sustainable socio-economic development and poverty reduction in any nation. It is a function of timely access to relevant and accurate patient health information by physicians, error-free prescription and medication, and the seamless transfer of patients from one level of care to another. However, the quality of healthcare delivery by physicians in Nigerian hospitals falls short of international best practices. The study investigated the influence of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) use on quality healthcare delivery by physicians in tertiary hospitals in Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted for the …

A Characterization For Optimal Bundling Of Products With Inter-Dependent Values, Soheil Ghili
Cowles Foundation Discussion Papers
This paper studies optimal bundling of products with inter-dependent values. I show that, under some conditions, a firm optimally chooses to sell only the full bundle of a given set of products if and only if the optimal sales volume of the full bundle is larger than the optimal sales volume for any smaller bundle. I then provide an interpretation of this characterization based on (i) the magnitude of the variation across consumers in how complementary they find different products, and (ii) how this variation correlates with price sensitivity.

Background: Mycophenolic acid (MPA) is a broad-acting immunomodulating agent that may be therapeutically beneficial for the treatment of immune-mediated diseases in canine patients.
Objectives: To determine the suppressive effects of MPA on T-cell proliferation, and to assess the feasibility of a canine-specific q24 h modified-release MPA formulation (OKV-1001b).
Animals: Fifteen healthy purpose-bred male beagle dogs.
Methods: Two nearly identical open-label fifteen-day studies were conducted in which dogs were randomized to receive mycophenolate mofetil (MMF; 10 mg/kg q12h), or two doses of OKV-1001b (270 mg and 180 mg; q24h). Serial pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) samples were collected on Days 1, …
