ABOUT THE TEST REPORT AND USE OF THE DATA The test data contained in this report are a tabulation of the results of a series of tests. Due to the restricted format of these pages, only a limited amount of data and not all of the tractor specifications are included. The full OECD report contains usually about 30 pages of data and specifications. The test data were obtained for each tractor under similar conditions and therefore, provide a means of comparison of performance based on a limited set of reported data. EXPLANATION OF THE TEST PROCEDURES Purpose The purpose of …

Mass Dependent Loss Of Resolution In Radially Inhomogeneous Exb Ion Traps, Mark A. Capron, Susan S. Haskin, Curtiss D. Hanson
Mass Dependent Loss Of Resolution In Radially Inhomogeneous Exb Ion Traps, Mark A. Capron, Susan S. Haskin, Curtiss D. Hanson
Journal of the Iowa Academy of Science: JIAS
ExB ion traps, such as Fourier transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance mass spectrometers (FY:ICR), mass analyze sample ions based on differences in their cyclotron frequencies in a homogeneous magnetic field. The high resolution mass measurements of FT-ICR are based on the relationship between the frequency of the cyclotron orbit and the mass-to-charge (m/q) ratio of an ion. Both the orbit and the frequency/mass relationship result from the radial forces on the ion. Ions trapped by inhomogeneous electric fields experience different magnitudes of the radial electric fields at different positions resulting in a positionally dependent frequency. Such differences in orbital frequencies for …
Practices Of Waste Management In Iowa Public Schools, Catherine Mary Patzner
Practices Of Waste Management In Iowa Public Schools, Catherine Mary Patzner
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
The purpose of this study was to describe the waste management practices utilized in randomly selected Iowa public schools overall and stratified by student enrollment. The sample consisted of 100 public schools in Iowa. All public schools with enrollments of 900 or more were chosen. The remaining schools in this sample were selected based on stratified random sampling techniques. A questionnaire was constructed to ascertain the presence and extent of waste management in Iowa public schools. This questionnaire was used as the tool for collecting data. Of the 100 questionnaires mailed in this study, 76 were returned. The questionnaire was …

Displacement, Velocity, And Frames Of Reference: Phenomenographic Studies Of Students’ Understanding And Some Implications For Teaching And Assessment, John Bowden, Gloria Dall'alba, Elaine Martin, D Laurillard, Ference Marton, Geoff Masters, Paul Ramsden, Andrew Stephanou, E Walsh
Prof Geoff Masters AO
Student understanding of fundamental concepts in kinematics has been explored using the phenomenographic research method. University and high schoolphysics students were interviewed and their understandings of displacement, velocity, and frames of reference have been analyzed in particular problem contexts. Descriptions of the different ways students understand the concepts have been developed and relations between the different levels of understanding have been identified. The data highlight the contextual nature of learning and the need for teachers to focus on the nature of student understanding in specific contexts using questions that require qualitative explanation by students. In particular, it is demonstrated that …

Mathematical Sciences Technical Reports (MSTR)
During the summers of 1989, 1990, and 1991, eighteen undergraduates participated in a National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates program at Rose-Hulman for which the author was the principal investigator. This paper provides some examples of the mathematics discovered during these three summers and discusses the philosophy, environment and process which made these discoveries possible.

A Delphi Forecast Of 1996 Roles: Air Force Institute Of Technology Information Resource Management Graduates Assigned To Base Level, David O. Block
A Delphi Forecast Of 1996 Roles: Air Force Institute Of Technology Information Resource Management Graduates Assigned To Base Level, David O. Block
Theses and Dissertations
Graduates of the Air Force Institute of Technology's Information Resource Management master's degree program who are subsequently assigned to base-level positions believe their IRM expertise is wasted in base administration roles that preclude the use of their up-to-date technical educations in managing automated information resources. This research forecasts the role AFIT IRM graduates assigned to base-level positions will need to fill by the year 1996. The research further determined what changes are necessary to resolve the perceived differences between current and forecast roles for these graduates. The Delphi survey method of forecasting was selected as an effective method of discovering …

Oil In Bowling Green: A Lost Chapter In Wku's History, Jonathan Jeffrey
Oil In Bowling Green: A Lost Chapter In Wku's History, Jonathan Jeffrey
SCL Faculty and Staff Publications
Bowling Green became the center of a five-county oil boom in the late-1910s. Two men working on construction of Western Kentucky University’s Potter Hall were determined to not be left out of the action. Architect William J. Bray and contractor Walter Brashear formed a syndicate to lease local land for oil exploration. In August 1920, WKU’s Board of Regents granted their company, The Great Arch Oil Company, exclusive rights to drill on the school’s farm. The majority of the company’s investors were school faculty and staff. Of the three wells drilled, only one showed promise and it was soon abandoned …
