The shoreline inventory files have been generated to support the application of the Maryland Shoreline Stabilization Model (SSM), developed by the Center for Coastal Resources Management (CCRM), Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), to enhance and streamline regulatory decision making in Maryland. This shoreline inventory includes the features needed as inputs to run the SSM.

The data developed for the Shoreline Inventory is based on a three-tiered shoreline assessment approach. This assessment characterizes conditions by using observations made remotely at the desktop using high resolution imagery. The three-tiered shoreline assessment approach divides the shorezone into three regions:

Compiled Dataset From The National Reservoir Research Program 1989 Dataset, Nicky M. Faucheux, Leandro E. Miranda

This dataset was compiled from the National Reservoir Research Program 1989 dataset. The NRRP dataset includes data from rotenone and creel studies at reservoirs throughout the continental US during the 1980s. We compiled the species level biomass data into total biomass for each of five trophic guilds (piscivores, detritivores, herbivores, invertivores, and planktivores). This compiled dataset was used to investigate the Cascading Reservoir Continuum Concept across 16 river basins in a study conducted by the 2020 Management of Impounded Rivers Class.

One of the most important tasks in road maintenance is the detection of potholes. This process is usually done through manual visual inspection, where certified engineers assess recorded images of pavements acquired using cameras or professional road assessment vehicles. Machine learning techniques are now being applied to this problem, with models trained to automatically identify road conditions. However, approaching this real-world problem with machine learning techniques presents the classic problem of how to produce generalizable models. During December 2017, a 2-week research cruise was conducted on the vessel the Sea Princess by scientists from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, North Carolina State University, Mawlamyine University, and University of Yangon. Kuehl et al. (2019) and Liu et al. (2020) present some of the sediment core, and seabed mapping data from that cruise. The cruise also provided a unique opportunity to obtain Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data along several transects from the Gulf of Martaban and adjacent continental shelf offshore of Myanmar. The goal of this study was to characterize alloy nanoparticles with different bimetallic ratios of silver (Ag) and copper (Cu) by determining the composition and alloy structures. One specific objective was to determine how the composition affects the electrical properties of the nanoparticles in terms of electrical resistance and nanoparticle sintering. The desire for this study stems from the need to make conductive pastes for low-cost solar panel manufacturing. We performed experiments to develop the aqueous synthesis of core-shell bimetallic nanoparticles.

Freshwater mussels in western North America are threatened by water diversions, climate change, loss of required host fish, and other factors, and have experienced marked decline in the past several decades. All four of the primary lineages (potentially species) of freshwater mussels in the western U.S. and Canada are widespread and have somewhat generalist host fish requirements. Of these lineages, perhaps the most poorly understood and of greatest conservation concern is Gonidea angulata (Rocky Mountain ridged mussel). The externally imposed vertical drift in the F region is an extremely important driver of ionospheric dynamics but is very difficult to measure or map. Ionospheric servo algorithms have used hmF2 as F-region observable to infer the vertical drift. However, an even more plentiful observable is the total electron content (TEC) whose coverage over northern mid-latitudes has both spatial and temporal availability that matches those of the probable mechanisms responsible for vertical drift dynamics.

This ionospheric, first principle physics, study shows that TEC is a viable servo parameter at mid-latitudes in the noon sector. The servo relationship is shown to …
