Improvement Of Solubility Of Celecoxib By Inclusion In Mcm-41 Mesoporous Silica: Drug Loading And Release, Şahi̇ka Günaydin, Ayşen Yilmaz

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Celecoxib is a poorly water-soluble nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Here we report four ordered mesoporous silica MCM-41 supports with different particle size, pore volume, and surface properties to investigate their loading capacity with celecoxib and their release abilities. Spherical MCM-41 mesoporous supports less than 50 nm in diameter were prepared and to compare the effect of the template removal process on morphology of samples, acid extraction and calcination methods were used. Moreover, nearly 500 nm sized rod-shaped MCM-41 mesoporous silica was obtained by changing the template concentration in preparation. Boron doping was performed to determine the effect of a heteroatom on …

Synthesis And Electrochemistry Of Phthalocyanines Bearing [(3,4-Dimethoxybenzyl)Oxy] Groups, İpek Ömeroğlu, Zekeri̇ya Biyiklioğlu

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

In this study peripherally tetra-substituted metal-free, metallophthalocyanines bearing (3,4-dimethoxybenzyl) oxy groups have been synthesized and characterized. Electrochemical properties of novel phthalocyanines 4, 5, 6, and 7 were determined by cyclic and square wave voltammetry in order to define their possible applications in different electrochemical technologies. Co^{II} and Ti^{IV}O metal ions behave as redox active cations in the core of the CoPc and TiOPc complexes, respectively. Voltammetric studies revealed that phthalocyanines have reversible/irreversible redox processes, which are the main requirement for the technological usage of these compounds.

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-allyl acetic acid) [p(NIPAM-co-AAAc)] microgels were synthesized in aqueous medium by free radical emulsion polymerization using N-isopropylacrylamide as monomer, allylacetic acid as comonomer, and N,N-methylene-bis-acrylamide as cross-linker. Silver nanoparticles were fabricated inside the microgels by in situ reduction of silver ions. Microgels were analyzed by UV-visible spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD, TEM, and DLS. The formation of silver nanoparticles was confirmed by UV-visible spectroscopy. UV-visible spectra of the Ag-poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-allyl acetic acid) hybrid microgels showed a prominent absorption peak at about 411 nm. This peak was due to the surface plasmon resonance effect of silver nanoparticles. The hybrid microgels were used as catalyst …

The preparation of polyaniline (PANI) microrod arrays in the presence of dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSAH), a structure-directing agent, and in the presence of periodic acid (H$_{5}$IO$_{6})$, an oxidant in aqua-acidic media, was investigated. DBSAH was performed to distinguish the roles of both surfactant and dopant. The method of preparation of DBSAH and H$_{5}$IO$_{6}$ doped PANI (DBSAH-PANI) microrods in a reversed micelle had previously not been reported. The characterizations of the PANI microrods were determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Based on the SEM results, we found that PANI microrods occur in …

A New And Simple Procedure For The Trace Determination Of Mercury Using Differential Pulse Polarography And Application To A Salt Lake Sample, Güler Somer, A. Cengi̇z Çalişkan, Olcay Şendi̇l

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A new and simple differential pulse polarographic procedure was established for the trace determination of mercury(II). An indirect method had to be used since no polarographic peak can be observed for its direct determination. According to their standard potentials, the reaction between SO$_{3}^{2-}$ and Hg(II) was suitable. The peak height of sulfite at about -0.70 V (pH 6, 7) was sharp, high, and very reproducible, enabling the accurate determination of low concentrations of Hg(II). It was found that sulfite concentration had to be 3 times larger than mercury at pH 6, in order to have a quantitative reaction. The procedure …

Kinetic parameters such as film resistance, pore resistance, and double layer capacitance were analyzed as a function of applied potential and polymer film thickness. The relation between kinetic parameters was discussed by combining electrolysis results. It was found that the optimum film thickness of polypyrrole was 0.73 $\mu $m and optimum potential for ammonia synthesis was -0.150 V under 60 bar N$_{2}$-pressure. The impedance responses under these conditions presented the lowest pore resistance value of ca. 2 $\Omega $ …

This study reports, for the first time, the fabrication of electrospun Cu$_{2}$ZnSnS$_{4}$ (CZTS) nanofibers using metal acetate precursors. Viscous poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) solution containing acetate or chloride salts of copper, zinc, and tin was electrospun onto a conductive substrate. The PVP nanofibers that have a mixture of metal salts were annealed at elevated temperatures. After calcination, these nanofibers were treated with the sulfur source and then annealed again in order to generate CZTS nanofibers. The CZTS nanofibers generated from acetate and chloride salts were characterized and compared. Belt-like and wire-like nanofibers were obtained when using metal acetate and chloride precursors, …

Tetraphenylsilane Group Containing Carbazoles As High Triplet Energy Host Materials For Solution-Processable Pholeds, Sali̇ha Öner, İlker Öner, Haydar Akdağ, Canan Varlikli

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A series of solution processable, wide band-gap host materials composed of carbazole and tetraphenylsilane groups were designed and synthesized. Their thermal, electrochemical, and photophysical properties were fully investigated. The introduction of bulky tetraphenylsilane and \textit{tert}-butyl groups around the carbazole led to high glass transition temperatures (T$_{g})$ between 120 and 204 $^{\circ}$C. The triplet energies (E$_{T})$ of the synthesized materials were examined by low temperature (77 K) photoluminescence studies and determined as E$_{T}>$ 2.6 for all compounds. Phosphorescent organic light-emitting devices with the ITO/PEDOT:PSS/EML/TPBi/Cs$_{2}$CO$_{3}$/Al device structure were fabricated by using synthesized materials as the host and two kinds of phosphorescent …
