A new approach based on a selective charge transfer reaction with alizarin red S is described for the simultaneous determination of azithromycin and levo oxacin in their binary mixtures using an absorption-factor spectrophotometric method. Native absorbance was used for the determination for levo oxacin, while a charge transfer complexation of alizarin red S served as the basis for the quantitation of azithromycin. The reaction of azithromycin with alizarin red S was possible in methanol under neutral conditions within 15 min at 25 ℃. This study describes the selective synthesis of C36-dimer fatty acids, by reacting unsaturated fatty acid at 533 K for 6 h in the presence of montmorillonite and lithium chloride as the catalyst and cocatalyst, respectively. The catalytic performance of different montmorillonite and organic modified montmorillonite catalysts was investigated in the dimerization of technical grade unsaturated fatty acid, and the influence of the catalyst structure and composition on the catalytic performance was analyzed. A series of new derivatives of N-(1-methylpyridin-4(1H)-ylidene)amines, [L1]-[L5], were synthesized and characterized by FTIR, NMR, MS, and XRD analysis. These targeted compounds were synthesized by the melt reaction between N-methylated-4-chloropyridinium triflate and corresponding amines (1-naphthyl amine, o-ansidine, 2-nitroaniline, p-ansidine, and cyclohexyl amine) followed by the addition of sodium hydride in dichloromethane in the same pot. These highly electron-donating N-(1-methylpyridin-4(1H)-ylidene)amine ligands considerably improve the catalytic activity of palladium acetate towards Heck-Mizoroki carbon-carbon cross-coupling reactions.

Preparation of benzaldehyde by Swern oxidation of benzyl alcohol was carried out in a continuous flow microreactor system. Dimethyl sulfoxide (Me2SO) was used as oxidizing agent and oxalyl chloride or p-toluenesulfonyl (p-TsCl) chloride was used as the activating agent. Benzyl alcohol was oxidized to benzaldehyde by the Me2SO-activating agent mixture in the continuous flow microreactor system. In this work, surface-functionalization agents and various salts as auxiliaries were used to improve the adsorption capacity of biochars produced via hydrothermal carbonization of glucose, cellulose, and hazelnut shell. The effect of surface functionalization with different acids and bases as well as neutral salts on the adsorption of methylene blue and methyl orange was investigated using Boehm titration, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy techniques. In the present study the nanocapsulation of Haloxyfop-R-methyl in poly(methyl methacrylate) was success- fully performed. Poly(methyl methacrylate)/Haloxyfop-R-methyl nanocapsules were synthesized using a miniemulsion method and their surface morphology was studied by scanning electron microscopy and transition electron microscopy. The chemical characterization of nanocapsules was done by FT-IR spectroscopy. The herbicide loading and encap- sulation efficiency were also analyzed for the herbicide-loaded nanocapsules. Coumarinyl 1,3,4-oxadiazoles were synthesized from Schiff bases and acetic anhydride. All compounds were characterized by melting points and their structures confirmed by mass and $^{1}$H and $^{13}$C NMR spectrometry. These novel coumarinyl derivatives were subjected to antibacterial, antifungal, anta atoxigenic, and antioxidant activity. Their activity varied depending on their structure, where 2-(3-acetyl-5-(((4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl)oxy)methyl)- 2,3-dihydro-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)-1,4-phenylene diacetate showed significant antioxidant and antibacterial activity on B. subtilis. 4-(3-Acetyl-5-(((4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl)oxy)methyl)-2,3-dihydro-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)-1,2-phenylene diacetate was found to possess excellent antifungal and antia atoxigenic activity.

The kinetics and mechanism of silver(I)-catalyzed oxidation of allyl alcohol with peroxodiphosphate in acetate buffers have been studied. The rate is independent of allyl alcohol concentration. The effect of other reaction parameters such as hydrogen and acetate ions has also been studied. The rate law accounting for all experimental observations corresponds to the proposed mechanism. The energy and entropy of activation have also been evaluated by employing Eyring plots.

Herein we synthesized Cu(II) immobilized on Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$ @Agarose functionalized with ethanolamine phosphate{ salicylaldehyde Schiff base (Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$ @Agarose/SAEPH$_{2}$ /Cu(II)) as a new and cost-effective nanomagnetic catalyst. The nanomagnetic catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, VSM, SEM-EDX, TEM, TGA, and ICP techniques and it was found that the particles were about 9-25 nm in size and spherical with entrapment of the Fe$_{3}$O$_{4}$ particles in the hollow pore structure of the agarose. The prepared nanomagnetic catalyst showed excellent activity for preparation of 2-substituted imidazolines, oxazolines, and thiazolines. As a starting material, 7-tert-butyldibenzo [b,e] [1,4] dioxine-2,3-dicarbonitrile was prepared by the reac- tion of 4-tert-butylcatechol with 4,5-dichlorophthalonitrile. Metallophthalocyanine complexes 4-7 were obtained by cyclotetramerization of 7-tert-butyldibenzo [b,e] [1,4] dioxine-2,3-dicarbonitrile. All compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and other spectroscopic methods (IR, UV/Vis, and $^{1}$H NMR). Phthalocyanine compounds remained nonaggregated in tetrahydrofuran at the studied concentration ranges. Metallophthalocyanines 4-7 were tested for their antioxidant activities. Zeolite-polymer mixed matrix membranes were prepared by lling polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with clinop- tilolite in various cationic forms of K, Mg, H, and Na. The membranes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy as well as measurements of O$_{2}, $N$_{2}$ and CO$_{2}$ gas permeabilities. The results indicated the presence of an optimum zeolite loading in the mixed matrix membranes maximizing permeability. The type of the cationic form of clinoptilolite used affected the permeabilities and ideal selectivities of the zeolite-polymer mixed matrix membranes investigated to some degree and some improvements were obtained when compared to the ideal selectivities of the original polymeric membranes.

In this work, a very simple, rapid, cheap, sensitive, and selective polymer film-modified electrode for vanillin determination in commercial food products was developed via electrochemical polymerization and overoxidation of pyrrole. The formation of both poly(pyrrole) and overoxidized poly(pyrrole) films on a glassy carbon electrode surface was characterized by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. This sensor is based on the electropolymerization of scopoletin or o-phenylenediamine in the presence of tyrosinase from mushrooms, which has a high homology to the human enzyme. In this research, a new series of ($E)$-3-(4-substitutedphenyl)-1-(4'-morpholinophenyl)prop-2-en-1-one derivatives 1-7 was synthesized, aiming to develop effective antiproliferative agents. The antiproliferative activities of compounds 1-7 were examined against HeLa and C6 cell lines at eight different concentrations using the BrdU ELISA assay. The activity results were compared with reference anticancer drug 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Compound 1 had almost the same antiproliferative activity as 5-FU. Compounds 1-7 were found to have greater effects against the C6 cell line than the HeLa cell line. These compounds were also tested in order to determine their effects on enzyme activities. Twenty-five new hydroxy- and methoxy-substituted 4,6-diarylpyrimidin-2(1H)-ol (20-34) and 4,6-diarylpyri\-midine-2(1H)-thiol derivatives (35-44) were synthesized from the reaction of the corresponding 1,3-diaryl-2-propene-1-one compounds (1-19) with urea or thiourea using the solid-phase microwave method. All the new synthetic compounds (20-44) were evaluated with regard to their $\alpha $-glucosidase activity. However, only compounds 22-25, 27,31,34, 35,37, and 40 exhibited a greater inhibitory effect than standard acarbose. The IC$_{50}$ values of the active compounds ranged between 2.36 and 13.34 $\mu $M. In order to investigate the interaction of graphene oxide (GO) with different cellulose polymorphs (I and II), we synthesized cellulose (I and II)/GO composites using the sonication method. Interestingly, no new peaks were observed in the FT-IR pattern of the cellulose (I and II)/GO composites, indicating that no chemical reactions took place between GO and cellulose. In order to take advantage of the Bronsted acidity of tungstophosphoric acid (TPA) and Lewis acidity of kaolin, TPA-loaded kaolin catalysts with varying percentages of TPA (10-50 wt.-%) were prepared by wet impregnation method. Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, X-ray diffractometer, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area analyzer, and scanning electron microscope characterizations were performed to confirm the successful loading of TPA on kaolin. Catalytic cracking of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), by employing TPA-loaded kaolin as the catalyst, produced a higher percentage of fuel oil (liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons) with a negligible amount of semisolid wax (1.0 wt.-%). Nano-NiO catalyzed acylation of mixed (methyl)(aryl)zincs with aromatic acyl halides in THF at room temperature provides a new facile route for aryl-aroyl coupling. Among NiCl$_{2}$.L$_{2}$ and NiCl$_{2}$.L (L = monodentate and bidentate phosphine ligand) catalysts, the lower catalyst loading of NiCl$_{2}$ (dppf) may seem attractive; however, nano-NiO, being the lowest cost catalyst, is more favorable for aroylation of (methyl)(aryl)zincs. This procedure also provides a supplement to Cu and Pd catalyzed acylation of diorganozincs.

We report herein the first synthesis of biologically active natural bromophenols, namely 1-(2,3,6-tribromo-4,5-dihydroxybenzyl)pyrrolidin-2-one (2), 2RS-1-(2,3-dibromo-4,5-dihydroxybenzyl)-5-oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid (3), and 2RS-methyl 1-(2,3-dibromo-4,5-dihydroxybenzyl)-5-oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylate (4), along with their different derivatives (6 and 8-18). Among the synthesized compounds, , 4, and their derivatives (8 and 9) are yielded in racemic form. Radical scavenging assays of the synthesized molecules were investigated using various bioanalytical antioxidant methods including 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS$^{\bullet +})$ and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH$^{\bullet })$. In addition, the reducing power of the novel bromophenols was investigated by Cu$^{2+}$-Cu$^{+}$ reducing, Fe$^{3+}$-Fe$^{2+}$ reducing, and [Fe$^{3+}$-(TPTZ)$_{2}$]$^{3+}$-[Fe$^{2+}$-(TPTZ)$_{2}$]$^{2+}$ reducing capacity and ferrous ions (Fe$^{2+})$ chelating abilities. New azo dyes bearing 2-pyridone and benzimidazole moieties were prepared using diazotization of 4-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)aniline and coupling of the obtained diazonium salt with substituted 3-cyano-2-pyridones. Obtained compounds were characterized via UV-Vis, FT-IR, and $^{1}$H and $^{13}$C NMR spectroscopy as well as by elemental analysis data. The UV-Vis spectra of the synthesized dyes were measured in thirteen solvents of different properties at room temperature. Solvatochromism and tautomerism of novel azo dyes were discussed. An MTT (3,4,5-dimethyl-thiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide) test was performed to prove the biocompatibility of the investigated dyes. A facile synthesis of piperidinium 3,3'-(arylmethylene) bis (2-hydroxynaphthalene-1,4-dione) analogs as organic salts is described by the one-pot pseudo-four-component reaction between 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone, aromatic aldehydes, and piperidine. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis of these systems confirms that the stabilized predominant interactions are N-H\... O and O-H\... O hydrogen bonds. Mild and clean reaction conditions, high atom economy, and operational simplicity of this one-pot multicomponent reaction coupled with excellent yields and no need for column chromatography have transformed this procedure to be a superior synthetic route for the efficient formation of families of naphthoquinone-derived compounds.

Liquid-liquid extraction of Au(III) from aqueous sodium malonate medium using 2-octylaminopyridine (2-OAP) as an extractant in xylene was achieved. The current work explored the influence of several experimental parameters such as pH, weak acid concentration, extractant concentration, equilibrium time, stripping agents, and aqueous:organic volume ratio on the extraction of Au(III). The experimental results showed that the Au(III) was quantitatively extracted to about 99.5% by 0.05 M 2-OAP in 0.05 M malonate at 5.0 pH. A simple, rapid, sensitive, and low-cost spectrofluorometric method was developed for the determination of Au(III) using 5-(2,3-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole (L) in ethanol/water. The method is based on the change in the fluorescence intensity at 464 nm after excitation at 355 nm as a result of the reaction between the ligand and Au(III). The fluorescent emission of ligand at 464 nm decreased with the increasing of Au(III) concentration. The ligand concentration, pH effect, response time, and effect of foreign ions were determined. In this study, a novel and effective electrochemical sensor for determination of dopamine (DA) was successfully developed by the modification of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) using Pd nanoparticles deposited on (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane functionalized nanoceria (Pd@CeO$_{2}$-APTES) and nafion used as a protective membrane. The synthesized nanocomposites were evaluated using X-ray diffraction, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Moreover, the electrochemical properties of the modified electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance voltammetry, and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Recent synthetic works contain syntheses of monosubstituted, disubstituted, trisubstituted, highly functionalized, and condensed structures. Phase Transition Of Chemically Synthesized Fept Nanoparticles Under High Pressure, Telem Şi̇mşek, Özgür Karci, Şadan Özcan

We present the results of a study related to phase transformation of chemically synthesized FePt nanoparticles under high pressure from face-centered cubic into face-centered tetragonal structure. As-synthesized nanoparticles are around 4.5 nm and show superparamagnetic behavior at 300 K. After annealing under 60 bar pressure of hydrogen at 400 $^{\circ}$C for 2 h, nanoparticles exhibit strong ferromagnetic behavior with 5391 Oe coercivity. Results show that high-pressure annealing lowers the decomposition temperature of the surfactants surrounding nanoparticles and partially hinders agglomeration arising from heat treatment.
