Proton Conduction In Pvpa --Benzimidazole Hybrid Electrolytes, Fatma Sevi̇l, Ayhan Bozkurt
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Proton conducting properties of benzimidazole (BnIm) doped poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA) were studied. The doping ratio, x, which is the number of moles of BnIm per mole of polymer repeat unit, varied from 0.5 to 2. The samples were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and impedance spectroscopy. The IR study indicates the protonation of heterocyclic units from the "free nitrogen" side. The proton conductivity and thermal stability of the blends increase with x. Maximum conductivity of PVPA x BnIm blends is approximately 10^{-3} S/cm at 150 °C.

Voltammetric, Uv Absorption And Viscometric Studies Of The Interaction Of Norepinephrine With Dna, Mehmet Aslanoğlu, Necla Öge
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Voltammetric, UV-vis spectroscopic and viscometric methods were used to investigate the interaction between norepinephrine and DNA. The results of square wave voltammetric and UV-absorption measurements have shown that norepinephrine was bound to DNA. Besides the electrostatic interaction between DNA and norepinephrine, hydrogen bonds and intercalation may also exist. Viscosity measurements also suggest that NE is bound to DNA via an electrostatic mode of interaction at lower norepinephrine concentrations. However, at higher concentrations of norpinephrine, the increase in the relative viscosity of DNA indicated that the intercalation is also involved in the binding. The binding constant and the binding site size …

Extraction-Spectrophotometric Determination Of Trace Amounts Of Barium And Strontium By 18-Crown-6 And Rose Bengal Using Partial Least Squares, Jahan B. Ghasemi, Alireza Nikrahi, Ali Niazi
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Partial least squares modeling is a powerful multivariate statistical tool applied to extraction-spectrophotometric simultaneous determination of mixtures of barium and strontium. The method is based on the formation of the ternary complexes with 18C6 and rose bengal with barium and strontium. The 18C6-Ba-RB and 18C6-Sr-RB ternary complexes are quantitatively extracted into dichloromethane and the resolution of the mixtures is accomplished by partial least squares (PLS). In this study, the calibration model is based on absorption spectra in the 500-600 nm range for 25 different mixtures of barium and strontium. Calibration matrice's ranges were 0.05-5.50 and 0.03-4.50 \mu g mL^{-1} and …
Response Of Test Masses To Gravitational Waves In The Local Lorentz Gauge, Malik Rakhmanov
Response Of Test Masses To Gravitational Waves In The Local Lorentz Gauge, Malik Rakhmanov
Physics and Astronomy Faculty Publications and Presentations
The local Lorentz gauge represents a natural coordinate frame for an observer to analyze the effect of gravitational waves on detectors, and has been widely used to describe the response of resonant bars. Its application to laser interferometers has thus far been restricted to the long-wavelength regime, in which the separation between the test masses is much less than the wavelength of the gravitational waves. In this paper we show that the local Lorentz gauge can be used for calculations of geodesic deviations of the masses even when their separation is comparable to or greater than the wavelength of the …

Some Physical Properties Of \Gamma Irradiated Ge_X(As_2te_3)_{100 - X} Chalcogenide System, Afaf Abdel-Aal, Bahiga Abdel-Hameed Mansour, Hoda Mohamed Eissa
Turkish Journal of Physics
The effect of \gamma -radiation on the electrical conductivity, switching, and optical properties of the chalcogenide amorphous system Ge_x(As_2Te_3)_{100 - x} (where x = 0,1,5,10 atm %) have been studied. The results show that the radiation causes a shift of the optical gap,as well as a change in the electrical activation energy and the threshold voltage. As the \gamma -doses increase, the values of the allowed indirect optical energy gap E_{opt} for the different compositions decreases and the tail energy width increases.

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) is performed at different heating rates under non-isothermal conditions to study the glass transition kinetics of glassy Se_{1 - x}Sb_x (x = 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08 and 0.10) alloys. The activation energy of glass transition E_t has been calculated using the two different non-isothermal methods. One of the two methods is based on the theory of glass transition kinetics and structural relaxation as developed by Moynihan and other workers, while the other relation is well-known Kissinger's relation. The results show that the values of E_t determined from both the methods are in good agreement with one …

Petrography And Petrology Of The Calc-Alkaline Sarıhan Granitoid (Ne Turkey): An Example Of Magma Mingling And Mixing, Zafer Arslan
Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
There are many acidic intrusions of varying age in the northern and southern zones of the eastern Pontides, NE Turkey, and the Sarıhan Granitoid is one of these. The Maastrichtian Sarıhan Granitoid was emplaced into the pre-Permo-Carboniferous Pulur Massif, generally comprising medium-grade metamorphic rocks; the Liassic Hamurkesen Formation, that begins with the Dikmetaş conglomerate and continues upward into volcano-sedimentary rocks; and the Malm-Lower Cretaceous Hozbirikyayla Formation, comprising limestone and sandy limestones. The Sarıhan Granitoid crops out in an area of approximately 40 km2, has an ellipsoidal shape, and comprises mainly quartz monzodiorite, granodiorite and lesser quartz diorite. The pluton contains …

Most skarn deposits are directly related to magmatic activity, and there is a systematic correlation between the composition of causative plutons and the metal contents of the related skarns. This paper documents the composition of facies within the Evciler pluton and correlations between intrusion composition and the metal contents of associated skarns. There have been previous studies of mines (e.g., Cu mines) in the Evciler district, however, there have been no detailed geological investigations of such ore deposits or associated skarn mineralization. In the Evciler district both calcic exoskarn (garnet-pyroxene) and endoskarn (pyroxene-epidote) occur along the contacts between granitoid and …
