Structural Phase Transition And Ferromagnetism In Monodisperse 3 Nm Fept Particles, Chuan-Bing Rong, Narayan Poudyal, Girija S. Chaubey, Vikas Nandwana, Ralph Skomski, Y. Q. Wu, Matthew J. Kramer, J. Ping Liu
Ralph Skomski Publications
FePt nanoparticles with a size of 3 nm and thermally stable room-temperature ferromagnetism are investigated. The monodisperse nanoparticles were prepared by chemical synthesis and a salt-matrix annealing technique. Structural and magnetic characterizations confirmed the phase transition from the disordered face-centered cubic structure to the L10 structure with the chemical ordering parameter of 0.62±0.05. Analysis in blocking temperature and fitting of temperature dependence of switching field reveals that the transformed 3 nm nanoparticles have a magnetic anisotropy constant of (2.8±0.2) x 106 J/m3, smaller than those for the bigger particles and the fully ordered L1 …

The Tennessee State University Automatic Spectroscopic Telescope: Data Processing And Velocity Variation Of Cool Giants, Joel A. Eaton, Michael H. Williamson
Information Systems and Engineering Management Research Publications
This paper discusses data reduction for an echelle spectrograph we have developed for an automatic telescope at Tennessee State University and are using to monitor radial velocities and line profiles of cool giant and supergiant stars. Although our approach to data reduction is rather conventional, we discuss flat‐fielding and extraction of velocities in ways that should be of general interest, establish a transformation to the IAU radial velocity system (+0.35 ± 0.09 km s−1), and determine the external precision for measured velocities (0.10–0.11 km s−1). Also, we present results of the first 2–3 years of monitoring radial velocities in about …

The Syntheses And Electrochemical Performance Of Nano-Mno_2 For Supercapacitor, Jun Ma, Ming-Sen Zheng, Quan-Feng Dong
Journal of Electrochemistry
Nano-manganese dioxide were prepared by two different methods which are low temperature solid reaction and chemical deposition. The products were characterized by XRD,SEM,BET and constant current charge-discharge tests. The result shows that there is a close relationship between specific capacitance and BET surface areas.Meanwhile the specific capacitance was impacted little by the structure of the nano-manganese dioxides. However, the product performance of high rates, was influenced by structure, the higher rate can be obtained with the more perfect crystal structure.

Inhibition Mechanism Of Imidazoline Derivate In Simulated Water From Deep Gaswell Containing Co_2, Yuan Lu, He-Xia Liu, Jing-Mao Zhao
Journal of Electrochemistry
The electrochemical method and atomic force microscope(AFM) were applied to study the inhibition mechanism of Im-D,an imidazoline derivate inhibitor, for mild steel in CO2 saturated solution. The imidazoline derivate can inhibit effectively CO2 corrosion, make the steel surface smoother and belongs to the anodic controlled mixed-type inhibitor. Its adsorption on the surface of mild steel is a spontaneous and exothermic process accompanied by the decrease of entropy and follows the Langmuir adsorption isothermal equation. The lower temperature will facilitate the process. The changes in the apparent activation energy(Ea) and the pre-exponential factor(A) of the corrosion reaction before and after the addition of inhibitor were also discussed.

Electrochemical Codeposition Of Ha/Collagen Coating And Preliminary In Vitro Tests, Yan-Li Xu, Long-Xiang Lin, Zhi-Wang Geng, Chang-Jian Lin
Journal of Electrochemistry
An electrochemical co-deposition technique has been developed to prepare a hydroxyapatite(HA)/collagen composite coating on Ti substrate. The SEM results show that the composite coating exhibits a homogeneous and porous morphology with nano-micro structure. And the XPS results demonstrate that the composite coating is formed by an organic-inorganic hybrization. In vitro cell culture tests reveal that, compared with pure HA and pure Ti,the HA/collagen composite coating exhibit a best biological properties.

Journal of Electrochemistry
A series of different dimensions regularly micropillar array hydrophobic Poly(dimethylsiloxane)(PDMS) surfaces were obtained by peeling off PDMS which was poured onto the silicon models. The silicon models were prepared by ICP etching technology. The results indicate that the water contact angle(WCA) was increased with the size and the height of the mocropillar, decreased with increasing the distance of the mocropillar when the height of the micropillar was relative small;if the height of the micropillar was relative big,WCA was decreased with increasing the size of micropillar, meanwhile, the distance of the micropillar was a complex factor to WCA,and the height of the micropillar have little influence. The …

Investigation On The Electrochemical And Spectra Properties Of Myricetin, Dong-Mei Wu, Shuang Liu, Hong-Fu Gao, Jin-Lian Li, Hai-Yan Liu, Qi-Chao Liang
Journal of Electrochemistry
The electrochemical mechanism of redox and stability of myricetin were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and electronic absorption spectra. Two oxidation reactions and two reduction reactions were achieved in B-R buffer solution. The oxidation reactions were both due to oxidation of 4′-OH on ring B and 3-OH on ring C within a one electron one proton process. The reduction reactions both correspond to the transformation of 4-carbonyl group on ring C to intermediate radical, and intermediate radical to hydroxyl group within a one electron one proton process, respectively. The redox of myricetin is pH dependent because of deprotonation, resulting in an increase of the antioxidant ability upon formation …

Optimization Of Control Source And Error Sensor Locations In Free Field Active Noise Control, Connor Raymond Duke
Optimization Of Control Source And Error Sensor Locations In Free Field Active Noise Control, Connor Raymond Duke
Theses and Dissertations
Previous work has shown that active noise control (ANC) can be applied to axial cooling fans. Optimization of the control source and error sensor placement is desired to maximize the attenuation using ANC. A genetic algorithm was developed to find the optimal placement of control sources for a given primary source. The optimal configuration of control sources around a single primary source was shown to be a linear arrangement of the sources. This holds true for both two-dimensional as well as three-dimensional configurations. The higher-order radiation of the linear arrangement has also been verified experimentally, but the improvement in the …
