Rule-Based Recommendation Model For Selecting Classifiers In Weka Based On User Specifications, Hussein Ali Azeez
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Machine learning field has many different algorithms; selecting an algorithm for non-expert user and aiming for maximizing empirical performance could be a tough task. This thesis considers the problem of selecting an algorithm based on the user specifications, for instance, training speed, memory, and interpretation. Specifically, considers the classification problem in the range of 20 models (2 meta-methods, 18 based classifiers) arising from 10 different families (Bayesian, Decision trees, Rule-based methods, Nearest neighbor methods, Logistic, multinomial regression, Neural networks, Support vector machines, Boosting, Bagging, and other ensembles), all implemented in WEKA. Different characteristics have been gathered for each model such …

Nowadays, recommender systems play a crucial role in our daily life as can be seen from numerous websites that utilize the systems to recommend interesting items for their visitors, such as lonelyplanet.com, netfliex.com etc. From operational viewpoint, the recommender system is embedded in several domains by which it is categorized based on their usage. For example, lonelyplanet.com is categorized as a Location-Domain while netflex.com is in a Movie-Domain. In fact, the interesting attractions from traveling websites or movie selections from movie online sites are part of the recommendation outcome. To analyze the user's preferences, many methods have been widely used …

Selection Problems In O-Minimal Structures, Saronsad Sokantika
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
In this dissertation, we improve the Definable Michael's Selection Theorem in o-minimal expansions of real closed fields. Then applications of this theorem are established; for instance, we prove the following statement: Let be an o-minimal expansion of and T be a definable set-valued map where n = 1 or m=1. If T has a continuous selection, then T has a definable continuous selection. Moreover, we prove the statement: Let be an o-minimal expansion of a real closed field and be a closed subset of Rn. If T: E --> Rm is a definable continuous set-valued map and T is bounded …
Designing Packing Boxes To Minimize Number Of Box Types, Teeradech Laisupannawong
Designing Packing Boxes To Minimize Number Of Box Types, Teeradech Laisupannawong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
In a product packing procedure, many types of packing boxes may be used if a factory has several kinds of goods or products. The cost spent for many types of boxes is added to the manufacturing cost. However, it would be more efficient in the aspects of the cost reduction and the production management if we can design reasonable box sizes and can minimize the number of box types for packing goods. In this work, we propose a heuristic rectangular box design algorithm for packing each kind of rectangular goods when the number of goods per box is given. The …

Microencapsulation Of Eugenol In Polyelectrolyte Complexes Of Chitosan And Alginate, Chamaiporn Supachettapun
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Eugenol is widely used in several applications such as food activity packaging to prolong shelf life of fruits and vegetables because of its antimicrobial activity. However, eugenol is easy to decompose, leading to reduce its activity. In this work, we prepared eugenol loaded alginate-chitosan microparticles in order to solve this problem and controlled release essential oil using ionic gelation technique. The effect of concentration of eugenol (0.1-0.5 g), calcium chloride (0.5 – 8 %W/V) and surfactant (2-10% W/V) was investigated. The results showed that the optimum condition was eugenol 0.1 g, calcium chloride 2% W/V and surfactant 4% W/V. The …

Water/Dust Repellent Coatings For Wood Surface From 3-Aminopropyltriethoxy Silane-Quat 188, Tanate Tubtimtong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Wetting and dust fouling on wood surface are big problems because of hydroxyl group and static charge on its surface. These problems could be minimized by surface modification which decreasing of hydroxyl groups and increasing of positive charges on wood surface. Many researches were reported about wetting issue but there were few studies directly involved to dust problem. In this research, 3-aminopropyltriethoxy silane (APTES) and 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride (Q188) were used to modify hydroxyl groups on wood surface to enhance wetting and dust repellency behavior of wood. The APTES-treated woods (AW) were prepared by immersion solution method and then were …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
A TiO2 compact (cp) layer or blocking layer (bl) plays a crucial role in a hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite solar cell (PSC) because it prevents the carrier recombination at the interface of fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) and perovskite layers. In this work, fabrication, characterizations of cp-TiO2 and their effects on the PSC were studied. The cp-TiO2 layers in this work were fabricated by radio frequency (RF)-magnetron sputtering method and spin coating method with various conditions. The cp-TiO2 layer was incorporated into the PSC device structure consisting of Au/spiro-OMeTAD/MAPbI3/mp-TiO2/cp-TiO2/FTO. For the sputtering method, cp-TiO2 could selectively block the transport of …

The general goal of this paper is to identify a transformation group that can be used to describe a class of feedback interconnections involving subsystems which are modeled solely in terms of Chen-Fliess functional expansions or Fliess operators and are independent of the existence of any state space models. This interconnection, called an output affine feedback connection, is distinguished from conventional output feedback by the presence of a multiplier in an outer loop. Once this transformation group is established, three basic questions are addressed. How can this transformation group be used to provide an explicit Fliess operator representation of …

Carbohydrate based small molecular gelators are important classes of compounds which can form useful soft materials with many practical applications. Although many different types of effective gelators have been reported, the rational design of a molecular hydrogelator is still challenging. In this research, we combined the structural features of two classes of monosaccharide based molecular gelators and obtained a new class of glycolipids that can function as molecular gelators. These new compounds were synthesized by introducing a triazole functional group to a protected 2-glucosamine through Cu(i) catalyzed azide/alkyne cycloaddition reaction (CuAAC). A series of eighteen new glycolipids containing 4,6-O …

Clinical practice calls for reliable diagnosis and optimized treatment. However, human errors in health care remain a severe issue even in industrialized countries. The application of clinical decision support systems (CDSS) casts light on this problem. However, given the great improvement in CDSS over the past several years, challenges to their wide-scale application are still present, including: 1) decision making of CDSS is complicated by the complexity of the data regarding human physiology and pathology, which could render the whole process more time-consuming by loading big data related to patients; and 2) information incompatibility among different health information systems (HIS) …

Qos Recommendation In Cloud Services, Xianrong Zheng, Li Da Xu, Sheng Chai
Information Technology & Decision Sciences Faculty Publications
As cloud computing becomes increasingly popular, cloud providers compete to offer the same or similar services over the Internet. Quality of service (QoS), which describes how well a service is performed, is an important differentiator among functionally equivalent services. It can help a firm to satisfy and win its customers. As a result, how to assist cloud providers to promote their services and cloud consumers to identify services that meet their QoS requirements becomes an important problem. In this paper, we argue for QoS-based cloud service recommendation, and propose a collaborative filtering approach using the Spearman coefficient to recommend cloud …

Stochastic Invariants For Probabilistic Termination, Krishnendu Chatterjee, Petr Novotný, Dorde Zikelic
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Termination is one of the basic liveness properties, and we study the termination problem for probabilistic programs with real-valued variables. Previous works focused on the qualitative problem that asks whether an input program terminates with probability 1 (almost-sure termination). A powerful approach for this qualitative problem is the notion of ranking supermartingales with respect to a given set of invariants. The quantitative problem (probabilistic termination) asks for bounds on the termination probability, and this problem has not been addressed yet. A fundamental and conceptual drawback of the existing approaches to address probabilistic termination is that even though the supermartingales consider …

Schiff base derivatives NBAR and NSAR were developed for selective detection of Al$^{3+}$ in aqueous solution. UV-vis spectroscopic studies revealed that NBAR and NSAR showed marked sensitivity and selectivity to Al$^{3+}$ in acetonitrile (ACN)/water (v/v, 1:1, pH 6.80). The NBAR and NSAR receptors bound Al$^{3+}$ in a 2:1 stoichiometry with apparent binding constants 4.09 $\times $ 10$^{11}$ M$^{-2}$ and 1.65 $\times $ 10$^{12}$ M$^{-2}$, respectively. They also displayed distinct changes in color upon the alteration of free Al$^{3+}$ levels in solution with reversible responses and showed little interference with other metal ions.

Electrochemical properties of disulfiram, representative of highly significant bioactive compounds, were studied with a cyclic renewable silver amalgam film electrode (Hg(Ag)FE) using square wave cathodic stripping voltammetry (SWCSV). The influence of various factors such as pH, buffer concentration, buffer composition, and SWCSV parameters on current response was investigated. The optimum results in terms of signal shape and intensity were recorded in Britton--Robinson buffer (pH 7.5) at -0.5 V versus Ag/AgCl/3 mol L$^{-1}$ KCl. An elaborated electroanalytical procedure was used to determine disulfiram at the Hg(Ag)FE in the concentration range from 0.05 to 5.00 $\mu $M. Precision, repeatability, and accuracy of …

Various thioxo-quinazolino[3,4-$a$]quinazolinones were prepared and evaluated for their cytotoxicity in MOLT-4 (lymphoblastic leukemia) and MCF-7 (breast adenocarcinoma) cell lines. Synthesis of the target compounds was started from isatoic anhydride. Successive reaction of isatoic anhydride with benzylamine and 2-nitrobenzaldehyde, reduction of the nitro group, and reaction with CS$_{2}$ gave 12-benzyl-6-thioxo-6,7,11b,12-tetrahydro-13$H$-quinazolino[3,4-$a$]quinazolin-13-one. The latter compound reacted with various 2-chloro-$N$-substituted acetamides to afford the corresponding fused quinazolinone derivatives.

Synthesis And Characterization Of Magnetic Amidoximated Chitosan-G Poly(Polyacrylonitrile)/Laponite Rd Nanocomposites With Enhanced Adsorption Capacity For Cu$^{2+}$, Gholam Reza Mahdavinia, Ebrahim Shokri
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Magnetic amidoximated nanocomposites based on a combination of chitosan and magnetic laponite RD were prepared and examined for the removal of Cu$^{2+}$ from aqueous solutions. Magnetic laponite RD was prepared by an in situ method. In order to prepare magnetic amidoximated nanocomposites, acrylonitrile was grafted to chitosan in the presence of magnetic laponite RD. Then the nitrile pendants on magnetic chitosan-g-polyacrylonitrile/laponite RD (mChtioPANLap) were converted to amidoxime groups. We developed a polyamidoximated magnetic nanocomposite based on a mixture of chitosan/laponite RD, possessing a high adsorption capacity for Cu$^{2+}$. By introducing magnetic laponite RD the adsorption capacity of nanocomposites for Cu$^{2+}$ …

A series of batch lab-scale experiments were performed to investigate the performance of dead phosphorylated algal biomass of Spirogyra species for the bioadsorption of Cu$^{+2}$ ions from aqueous solutions. FT-IR and SEM analyses were performed to characterize the phosphorylated and raw algae. The SEM analysis indicated that the phosphorus content increases by about 5 times. The isotherm equilibrium data indicated that phosphorylation enhances the removal of Cu$^{+2}$ from water by about 20%. The experimental isotherms fit well to Langmuir models with $R^{2}$ values close to 0.99. Adsorption kinetic study was conducted to investigate the effect of initial Cu$^{+2}$ concentrations, pH, …
