A Steganographic Approach To Hide Secret Data In Digital Audio Based On Xor Operands Triplet Property With High Embedding Rate And Good Quality Audio, Krishna Bhowal, Debasree Chanda Sarkar, Sushanta Biswas, Partha Pratim Sarkar

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

In this paper, a unique and transparent data hiding algorithm based on XOR operands triplet (XOT) is proposed. In XOT, an XOR operation applied on any two members of a triplet provides the third member of the same triplet. Taking advantage of the low computational complexity and fascinating properties of the XOR operator, it is possible to embed 4-ary secret digits with negligible changes in the host digital audio. The proposed scheme has been designed to ensure that a minimum number of bit alterations happen in the host digital audio during the data hiding process, which also increases the security …

Sum Rate Enhancement And Interference Alignment For Mimo Channels, Sarmad Sohaib, Faqir Najam-Ul-Hassan, Junaid Ahmed

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Interference alignment (IA) is a cooperative technique used for multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) interference channels to confine the interference to a reduced signal space of the receiver. IA helps all nodes of the network to achieve half of the degree of freedom that can be achieved if there were no interference. In this paper an iterative alternating minimization algorithm is presented, which aims at providing the higher sum rate along with IA for more than three users having complete channel state information. In each iteration of the algorithm precoders and decoders are calculated to align interference in a reduced interference subspace. …

Modified Control Of The Matrix Converter-Based Drive For Voltage Sag Impact Reduction, Gytis Petrauskas, Gytis Svinkunas Jan 2017

Modified Control Of The Matrix Converter-Based Drive For Voltage Sag Impact Reduction, Gytis Petrauskas, Gytis Svinkunas

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Faults in transmission and distribution networks often cause voltage sags. Direct matrix converter (DMC)-based drives are a new generation of electrical drives. Unlike the conventional two-stage diode supply-side inverter drive, the DMC drive has no direct current (DC) link capacitor and no capacitor charging-time delay before operation. The absence of a DC link makes the DMC-based drive more sensitive to voltage sags. The above-mentioned faults in transmission and distribution networks could degrade the DMC drive's performance and reliability. This paper investigates possible kinds and levels of voltage sags, dependency on network configuration, and the behavior of the DMC-based drive under …

Automatic Reduction Of Periodic Noise In Images Using Adaptive Gaussian Star Filter, Seni̇ha Ketenci̇, Ali̇ Gangal

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The reduction of noise in images is a crucial issue and an inevitable preprocessing step in image analysis. Many diverse noise sources, which disrupt source images, exist in nature and through manmade devices. Periodic noise is one such disruption that has a periodic pattern in the spatial domain, causing hills in the image spectrum. In practice, quasiperiodic noise is commonly encountered instead of periodic noise. It has a more complex frequency spectrum, such as a star shape, in place of a pure delta shape in the frequency amplitude spectrum. In this study, we consider designing a star shape Gaussian filter …

Turkish Entity Discovery With Word Embeddings, Murat Kalender, Emi̇n Erkan Korkmaz

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Entity-linking systems link noun phrase mentions in a text to their corresponding knowledge base entities in order to enrich a text with metadata. Wikipedia is a popular and comprehensive knowledge base that is widely used in entity-linking systems. However, long-tail entities are not popular enough to have their own Wikipedia articles. Therefore, a knowledge base created by using Wikipedia entities would be limited to only popular entities. In order to overcome the knowledge base coverage limitation of Wikipedia-based entity-linking systems, this paper presents an entity-discovery system that can detect semantic types of entities that are not defined in Wikipedia. The …

Analysis And Design Of Grid-Connected 3-Phase 3-Level At-Npc Inverter For Low-Voltage Applications, Emre Avci, Mehmet Uçar

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

The 3-level T-type neutral point clamped (T-NPC) inverter has become the most popular multilevel inverter used in low-voltage applications. However, the realization of a bidirectional switch located at the midpoint leg of the T-NPC inverter is achieved using two insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) with two antiparallel diodes. Power dissipation in these switches is high since there are two semiconductors (an IGBT and a diode) in the current path at the midpoint leg. Switch losses can be reduced and thus the highest conversion efficiency can be achieved if the bidirectional switches in the T-NPC inverter are replaced by highly efficient …

A Marching Algorithm For Isosurface Extraction From Face-Centered Cubic Lattices, Yusuf Sahi̇lli̇oğlu Jan 2017

A Marching Algorithm For Isosurface Extraction From Face-Centered Cubic Lattices, Yusuf Sahi̇lli̇oğlu

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This work provides a novel method that extracts isosurfaces from face-centered cubic (FCC) lattices. It has been theoretically shown that sampling volumetric data on an FCC lattice tiled with rhombic dodecahedra is more efficient than sampling them on a Cartesian lattice tiled with cubes, in that the FCC lattice can represent the same data set as a Cartesian lattice with the same accuracy, yet with approximately 23% fewer samples. This fact, coupled with the good properties of rhombic dodecahedra, encouraged us to develop this related isosurface extraction technique. Thanks to the sparser sampling required by the FCC lattices, the de …

Investigation Of Adaptive Control Of Robot Manipulators With Uncertain Features For Trajectory Tracking Employing Hil Simulation Technique, Senthil Kumar Jagatheesa Perumal, Senthil Kumar Natarajan

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

This paper investigates the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation approach for dynamic control of a three-link rigid robot manipulator that possesses ambiguous dynamics and kinematics. The task with two adaptive control schemes has been realized with the objective of task space trajectory-tracking of the end effector of the robotic manipulator. Both proposed controllers are designed by considering the joint reference velocities and the additional separation property. Based on these, the controllers can be referred to as reference velocity (RV) and reference velocity separation (RVS) adaptive controllers, respectively. The RV adaptive controller can yield better performance with proper alterations, without the cost of …

The mathematical model of the equivalent circuit of a brushless DC motor switches during the operation due to commutation. This issue causes a sudden ripple in the output torque, which is called commutation torque ripple. Brushless DC motor drives suffer from commutation torque ripple, affecting the performance of the motor in practical applications. A discrete-time switched controller is proposed to reduce the commutation torque ripple in brushless DC motor drives. The proposed controller is a combination of two distinct controllers designed for two different working regions of brushless DC motors. In addition, the commutation delay is also considered in the …

Intelligent Reorganized Discrete Cosine Transform For Reduced Reference Image Quality Assessment, Tariq Bashir, Imran Usman, Shahnawaz Khan, Junaid Ur Rehman

Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences

Reduced reference image quality assessment does not require the presence of the original image for assessing the quality of a degraded image. This work proposes an intelligent method for reduced reference image quality assessment based on a reorganized discrete cosine transform (RDCT). A genetic algorithm (GA) is used to compute optimized estimation of the generalized Gaussian distribution (GGD), which then approximates the coefficient distribution in the RDCT domain. Experimental results validate that such an intelligent estimation produces far superior results compared to conventional empirical estimation methods as presented in the literature. We compare the proposed technique with a number of …
