Chemical Changes In Groundwater Of Northern Utah Valley, Utah, Paul E. Fairbanks
Chemical Changes In Groundwater Of Northern Utah Valley, Utah, Paul E. Fairbanks
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Northern Utah Valley is one of the fastest growing areas of Utah and has increasing needs for domestic, industrial, and agricultural water. To meet these needs, groundwater and surface water systems must be understood to maximize their use. Chemical studies of the sediment mineralogy and related water-chemistry give insight to the movement of the water.
There are three major aquifers present in the valley: shallow Pleistocene; deep Pleistocene; and Tertiary. They are composed of sands and gravels and are separated by confining layers (aquitards) composed mostly of clay. Along the flanks of the bordering mountains there are undifferentiated aquifers which …
Preliminary Groundwater Investigations In Relation To Soil Salinity At Fitzgerald, Western Australia, C J. Henschke
Preliminary Groundwater Investigations In Relation To Soil Salinity At Fitzgerald, Western Australia, C J. Henschke
Resource management technical reports
This study investigated soil salinity problems in relation to new land releases at Fitzgerald near the south coast of Western Australia. Fairly widely spaced set of bores was established to compare the groundwater hydrology regimes beneath cleared and virgin land. A large storage of soluble salts (over 100 kgm-2 in some profiles) was measured in the pallid zone clays under both cleared and virgin land conditions. Seasonal fresh to brackish perched watertables were found to overlie highly saline deep waterbles at a number of valley sites on land which has been cleared for agriculture during the past 15 years. Salinity …

A Faunal Analysis Of The Springs Of The Ouachita Mountains, Arkansas, Henry W. Robison
A Faunal Analysis Of The Springs Of The Ouachita Mountains, Arkansas, Henry W. Robison
Technical Reports
Spring ecosystems in Arkansas have historically received little attention. A faunal survey was made of 33 springs located in the core area Ouachita Mountains physiographic province. The study area was 135 x 80 km extending west from Hot Springs, Arkansas to the Oklahoma line. Springs in the Ouachita Mountain physiographic province were characterized as generally faunistically poor with often a single species such as the isopod, Lirceus h. hoppinae, being the dominant faunal element both numerically and with regard to biomass. A total of 40 species of invertebrate species and eight vertebrate species were collected from the spring environs during …

Geology And Groundwater Supplies Of Southern Dawes And Northern Sheridan Counties, Nebraska, Vernon L. Souders
Geology And Groundwater Supplies Of Southern Dawes And Northern Sheridan Counties, Nebraska, Vernon L. Souders
Conservation and Survey Division
The upland plain in southern Dawes and northern Sheridan counties of northwest Nebraska is underlain by rocks of Tertiary age. These rocks overlie those of Cretaceous and Jurassic ages in this region of about 2250 square miles . Strata of Tertiary age are a source of groundwater for most of the irrigation, municipal, stock, and rural-domestic needs of the area.
Nine stratigraphic units of Tertiary.age were defined by examination of test hole samples and logs and by examining electric logs of oil and gas tests, driller's logs of irrigation wells, and outcrops. Stratigraphic correlations are difficult in the area because …

Chemistry Of The Spring Waters Of The Ouachita Mountains Excluding Hot Springs, Arkansas, George H. Wagner, Kenneth F. Steele
Technical Reports
This report is based on the chemical analysis of the waters from 93 springs and 9 wells. Springs, when free from metal plumbing, provide an uncontaminated source of the ground water and it was desired to obtain water uncontaminated with metals. A few wells were added to the list, usually because of their unique location in the sampling grid.

Groundwater In The Wheatbelt, E P. O'Driscoll
Groundwater In The Wheatbelt, E P. O'Driscoll
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
In general six factors affect the occurence of groundwater; rainfall, topography, rock type, rock structurs, vegetation, and local evaporation.
Variation in even one of these can affect the potential yield of a bore or well, the groundwater salinity, and even whether any groundwater occurs at all.

State Of The Art Of Technology For Rural Water System Development, R. T. Alguire, Joe F. Nix, H. C. Macdonald, Robert E. Babcock
Technical Reports
The objective of this study was to review the current state of the art in rural water system technology. This was to be accomplished by a literature review of the Water Resources Scientific Information Center (WRSIC), National Technical Information Service (NTIS), and Smithsonian Science Information Exchange (SSIE). This literature search was to be augmented by interviews with consulting engineers, operating system managers and industrial literature. Both groundwater and surface water technology was to be reviewed. The technology was then to be grouped into four classes: (1) current technology, (2) technology which has been developed, but not currently being used, (3) …

Analysis Of Unsteady Flow Toward Artesian Wells By Three-Dimensional Finite Elements, Yang H. Huang, Shen-Jyh Wu
Analysis Of Unsteady Flow Toward Artesian Wells By Three-Dimensional Finite Elements, Yang H. Huang, Shen-Jyh Wu
KWRRI Research Reports
A three-dimensional finite element computer program was developed for analyzing unsteady flow toward artesian wells. The program is designed especially for determining the drawdown around an artesian well penetrating fully or partially a nonhomogeneous and anisotropic aquifer of irregular shape and cross section. It can also be used as a general program for aquifer simulation and evaluation. A major advantage of the program lies in the minimum amount of input data required. By assuming the top and bottom boundaries of the aquifer as two arbitrary planes, the aquifer will be divided into six- or eight-node elements, and their nodal coordinates …
